Thoughts at the beginning of this challenge:

Last round I had my normal goal of a 12 pound loss which is approximately 4 lbs per month. That comes to about 90 days leaving the other 10 open for special holidays and social occasions. In theory, it’s a good plan. In practice it is a Mountain to Crawl, uphill, both ways. However, each 100 day round I am extremely grateful for any progress I CAN make, no matter how big or small. Sadly, I gained a little over 6 pounds last round. I hope to turn all that back around this round. After all, here in Northern Michigan I wait a very long time each year to finally get to good weather and more outside activity. I really want to capitalize on the good weather in the summer months and increase activity and drop pounds. I’m failing miserably with this so far in 2024. Time to maximize the rest of summer and early fall with challenge #20 and make the magic happen! I am so very grateful for all the support from all of you that I get on a daily basis. Working on my health has become my #1 priority. My main goals are to maintain my remission by staying cancer free and to keep my diabetes in control. Losing weight is key to both goals.

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

    Day 62-09/18-192.4-(Trend weight 192.3)

Day 63-09/19-194.6-(Trend weight 192.6) I got home so late last night that I didn’t have time to actually post but I did weigh yesterday morning and today so I’ve documented the weights. It was a long day doing the medical trip for my eye issues. My eye issues will eventually require surgery but it’s very risky and they want to wait until it is absolutely necessary so I’m to go back for rechecks every 6 months. The condition “eye pucker” is more common in women than men and is actually caused by old age. It’s an actual wrinkle in the back of the eye caused by an eyeball collapse of sorts. Old age….Humph. It’s more common in women because we usually live longer. They said I am pretty young (age 64) to have this condition but my eyes are aging more rapidly due to T2 diabetes. The surgery would involve removing the jelly in the back of my eye, pulling up a pucker and then filling the gap with an air bubble. What the scan looked like was an even line like a beach of sand going straight across and then suddenly a big triangular sink hole was in the center then back up to the straight beach line again. That sinkhole needs to be pulled back up. I will put a link below with what I found when I googled it this morning for anyone interested. I had never heard of this condition. I also have the start of a cataract in both eyes pretty evenly. That will also wait the doctor said as they are just beginning. Also, I have a large floater. Good news is that he did not find any bleeding vessels the other doctor told me I had. Gosh, this T2D has really wreaked havoc on me. Avoid it at all costs my friends! I was first diagnosed in 2007 when I quit smoking and very quickly gained a lot of weight. This makes losing weight all the more important to my body. I’m proud of how far I’ve come since then (I weighed 253 at one point for a very long time). However, I still have quite the road ahead. I’m planning a very careful day today to offset the overnight gain from yesterday’s trip. More travel tomorrow to my son’s dental which is about 75 miles each way. Lunch will likely be out again. I’ll try to keep it to one meal although it’s going to be another long day as I have quite a few things to do in that town in relation to my renovation. He’s the link I mentioned:

Good morning. Donna, a friend has what sounds like a similar eye condition ( macular puckering) for which she gets injections every 4 to 6 weeks. Good point about doing our best to avoid diabetes so I def need to get a handle on my weight issues; not a huge gain but am at top end of range and have been holding there for too many months. Just scrolled back and I've been in the 170's since July, 2023! that's a reality check!

Dawn, will be on the road early tomorrow so wishing you a "Happy Birthday" a day early. Lakes look fabulous .. you need to find a kayak!! love paddling shorelines with clean clear water. Here's wishing you a perfect zen walk in the woods. Hubby has been unwell so zero appetite; we never have 'normal' dinners anymore. I need to pull up my big girl panties and start planning and cooking real meals for myself. I used to juggle scales too when traveling away from home for work. now just stick with one but it HAS to be in the EXACT same spot for weighing. and I have to take my watch off too! Just a little anal :p

Avery, yeah! down into lower decade of numbers. I want to be where you are!

    Iradi, nice losses!

Tina, wow! admire your talent in knitting a sweater. I crochet but not good at knitting at all -- have huge tension issues. Last pair of socks I knit, well, one was like a leg warmer and the other like a tourniquet! But I crochet a mean dish scrubbie and afghans. great way to keep my hands off food, hmmm, maybe need to resurect a project.

    Week 9:

Sept 12: 173.2 Reflecting on how a situation with a miserable resident last Sunday should be handled. Management will “talk” to him but I think this will just feed into his mind as it will give recognition. I’ll try to just totally ignore him and his actions. If he’s looking for negative feedback then I’ll give him none.

Sept 13: 174.8 past days eating have caught up. Catching up on my “to do” list then ended day with some raking etc.

    Sept 14: 175.2
    Sept 15: 176.?

Sept 16: 175.8 Disorganized and tired, but just looking at stuff to do instead of dealing with it.

Sept 17: 175.2 Progress in booking appointments for hubby, vehicle and most important, hair cut for me!

Sept 18: 175.4 bit of a ‘blah’ day; spent time sorting out staff lottery tickets, bank account, and many phone calls. Loaded kayak but couldn’t find anywhere close to launch as there was a jack-knifed truck and boat trailer blocking the main launch. Water is down so other launches are deep mud. Came home, ate mushroom barley pilaf and drank wine. Phone calls started at 7:30 and con’t thru to 10! Need to let ‘them’ know I’m off-grid by 9pm.

Sept 19: 175 Have a list of “tasks” to complete so feel caught up with posting, want to prep veggies so easier eat healthier, need to get at least 30 min cardio in, plus want to catch up hemming a couple pairs of pants for work and 2 pairs new jeans ( a bit afraid to try them on in case they’re tight fitting). *sigh*

38 days until the end of this challenge. Goal, to be less than 170!
