Hi,
I'm Cindy. I'm 50, 5'4" and 159.6 as of Aug 1st. Lost 4.6 lbs in July. I didn't quite reach my goal weight for July, but I was close. I have fought with the same 10lbs for the last year.
So my doctor wants to put me on Wegovy or Zepbound. Between the cost and doing a little research, I don't think its a great solution for me. Looks like it might be a rest of life commitment. No thank you!
Started at the gym 7/3. Been going 5 days a week. Missed a few days due to life.
I see my doctor again at the end of August, so I want to loose at least 10 lbs by then to prove I can do it without meds. My ultimate goal is 135 lbs.
Starting weight: 164.2 (July 1, 2024)
August starting weight: 159.6

Aug 1st - 159.6 - Used the rowing machine at the gym for the first time. My friend and I liked it. Why aren't more people using it. No one is ever on it.
Aug 2nd - 160 - Probably the few bites of cookies I had after dinner last night. My daughter wanted Crumble Cookie. How could I say no after the crazy week we have had?

Aug 4th - 160.4 - not paying attention to what I ate yesterday and ate dinner late. Need to work harder this week on what I am putting in my mouth. Last week was a little crazy and I was trying to feed a bunch of young adults. Needed quick, cheap, and easy.
Aug 5th - 158.8 - Actually lost weight over the weekend!
Aug 6th - 157.4 - Not sure how that happened, but I will take it. Only did cardio at the gym yesterday afternoon. I was in a hurry. Had lots to do yesterday evening.

Aug 9th - 160.2 - Very tired this week. Not really sure what is going on except maybe stress. Still going to the gym, but mostly cardio this week and very little weights.
Aug 10th - 159 - Scale finally moving back the other direction.
Aug 11th - 159.2 - I knew it would go up this morning. Yesterday was really busy and only had energy by the end of the day to order pizza. I did have a salad for lunch anticipating being exhausted at the end of the day. Today will be better.
Aug 12th - 158 - Yay!
Aug 13th - 158.6 - Ugh! Why? Not looking good to meet my goal. I have my doctor appointment on the 27th. I'm afraid she will try to push the drugs again.

Aug 15th - 158.4 - The scale needs to move down! Weights and cardio for about an hour afterwork yesterday. Only ate a salad with tomatoes and cucumber last night for dinner. I won't say what I ate for lunch. I think the lesson learned is eat a lighter dinner and a heavier lunch.
Aug 16th - 157.8 - Makes a difference when I stay away from bread. Now for the weekend. Have party to attend for my husband's grandfather tomorrow. He will be 101 and still going strong. Drives and lives by himself. It will be pool side so I probably won't want to eat much because its Texas and it will be hot tomorrow.
Aug 17th - 157.4 - Yay! I made it to the gym 5 times this week. I always take Saturday and Sunday off, so just have to watch what I eat over the weekend. I have a week and a half until my doctor appointment.3 -

08/16-191.4-(Trend Weight 190.7)- I must apologize for my attitude and rant yesterday. I was in such a dark place. When the doctors tell me to limit my exercise due to my newest heart issues and to limit my water for the same reason, I just feel so lost. I mean, it is messing with two very VITAL parts of my weight loss plan, exercise and water!!! So today I turned off my alarm clock and decided to have a good attitude. I just need to change my exercise to mild cardio, maybe more walking. I need to drink less water and overall liquids, yes, but I can spread them out more evenly throughout the day so there may still be some effectiveness. THEN, I sat here, and continue to sit here, waitingโฆ..waiting (yet again) for my contractor to get here who was scheduled for 9:00. I stay up pretty late and am not normally an early riser (I like to sleep until about 10:00 in my retirement), but have been accommodating his schedule to get these jobs done. EXCEPT, he does this often enough to tick me off. Oh, how I could have used the sleep! And I donโt need sleep issues on top of exercise and water issues! So, in keeping my promise to myself to have a more positive day, I just want to say that Iโve pre-logged my food for the first time since July 31st, I have already done a Leslie Sansone walking video on youtube this morning and I am going to enjoy my DGS who is here with me for the weekend and Iโm going to avoid my daughters food offerings from her mobile grocery store. NSV, however, last night she pulled Russell Stoverโs sugar free 5 pc bag of chocolates out of her Mary Poppins bag for me. Sugar Free! Wow, thatโs a win! She heard me for once! Have a great weekend everyone!
08/17- DNW -(Trend Weight DNW)- I forgot my weekly Fosamax yesterday so I took it this morning, therefore, itโs a no-weigh Saturday. Yesterday was not good. I ended up skipping dinner because of too many snacks. Not healthy or right on any level. My stomach just seems to be a bottomless pit right now. Iโm hoping for a better day today but already I am staving off hunger. Choices will be key today. Too bad they werenโt key yesterday. I had all my food choices pre-planned and pre-logged but only followed through until lunch.

Hello I'm Darlene. Retired, 64-year-old. Married (Greg), one adult daughter (Allyson), and one goldendoodle (Monty), back for another month with this supportive group. I have been on this weight loss journey since January 2023, and with this group since April 2023. I have lost 84.5 pounds since the beginning of my journey. This group (along with a couple others I am in) has played a very important part in me reaching my goals. Thank you @jm216 for setting it up again this month! My July Reflection for anyone who cares to read:July Reflection
July was a tough month for me. I do not really understand why I lost motivation this month, but probably a combination of not being able to do my normal exercise routine coupled with getting close to my goal and self-sabotage.
I lost 1.5 pounds this month. My goal was to at least lose 2% of my body weight which would have been about 3 pounds. I got close for a couple of days โ but then went over the top and gained some back. The good thing is that I got back at it right away and did not allow the one-day binges to continue into a weekend, or weeklong binge. Down 84.5 pounds since I started this journey.
Exercise was different for me this month as well. The doctor asked that complete non weight bearing exercises, so no real walking. My strength, cardio, stretch, and steps were all done in the chair most of the month. I did get the green light to start up again at the end of the month and am slowly transitioning from chair to standing.
Now for the good news โ I reached the 1,500-mile marker on my quest to walk 2,024 miles in 2024, logging about 150 miles in July (mostly seated). I found a place on my Garmin app which gives me the total intentional exercise time โ so much easier for me to track my second goal which was 2,024 miles of intentional exercise (I count 20 minutes as a mile). I was previously doing it on an excel spreadsheet โ which probably wasnโt too accurate. With this new calculation I am at 1,181 miles to date โ just where I should be to complete it for the year. I can do it.
There are a lot of obstacles in my way for the month of August. Family picnic this weekend, followed by my birthday, then a three-day girlโs trip to Turning Stone Casino, and then finally a three-day trip for my wedding anniversary. With that in mind am going to keep the same goal as July โ a 2% loss. Yes, I would love to see that ideal number (3.5 pounds), but that dangling carrot hasnโt helped me with my goals, so am going to shoot for that in September when it is much more reachable. It is also break time for both the Hogwarts and BLC challenges โ so need to motivate myself โ not as easy to do.
I have thought a lot about what my final goal should be. My initial goal was five pounds under the ideal range or 135 pounds. But when I look at myself, I still do not see fit. So am adjusting it to 100-pound loss or January 8, 2025 (my two-year starting date) whichever comes first.

PRIOR WEEKSAug 1: 142.8 ๐ ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ช ๐ฆ ๐ง I'll never get it - didn't really do anything different - but a nice swish. Nothing exciting happening - end of the month is reflection and budget day so spent a good amount of time at the computer. I added a new goal this month - declutter - thinking one declutter thing a week. We'll see how that goes on my goal to become more minimalistic. My Aunt cancelled the family picnic that was planned for this weekend. My other Aunt is up from Florida and we were all going to get together - but it is supposed to rain all day so she cancelled. I'm sorry to see it because I haven't seen a couple of my cousins in a long time - but one less temptation this month is probably a good thing as August is filled with one to many for me.
Aug 2: 142.7 ๐๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ฆต๐ซ ๐ฆ ๐งNice day yesterday, went out on the boat, a little dip in the water. I love our little lake (which only town resisdents can use). I counted the boats that were on the water - 2 boats, 1 jet ski, and a paddle board (plus us). My knee was feeling great yesterday, and I got in 17K steps. This was my daily goal pre knee injury so was so happy to see it. I'm feeling a little sore this morning though, so will curb it a little today.
Aug 3: 142.4 ๐๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ช ๐ฆ ๐งHot and Humid in Connecticut yesterday. Got our walk in, but was super sticky. We harvested our first pot of potatoes (we picked the little one to see how they were doing) and got seven good potatoes from the pot. Super happy with that. After a terrible garden year, it was nice to see some profits from our work. We talked about next year's garden and all we can seem to grown this year is tomatoes and potatoes (and ok arugula). Even the fruit trees - no apples, no pears - we do have peaches but the squirrels are taking them one by one before they are ripe. No big plans for today - it's also going to be a hot and humid one.
Aug 4: 142.5 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ฆต๐ซ ๐ฆ ๐งOne of my spare bedrooms has my treadmill in it and a weight machine. We had a twin sized bed in there as well (it was Allyson's room way back when). Finally decided to get rid of the bed. Also cleaned out the bureau - now the bureau is empty (going to move some things from my bedroom to make it so my closet isn't stuffed) and we moved the ab chair into the room. Threw away a big bag of stuff, another big bag going to good will and a couple bags of stuff for Allyson to go through. If she doesn't want it another two bags to goodwill. Now it is truely a workout room. ๐
Aug 5: 142.9 ๐ ๐ฅ ๐งโโ๏ธ๐งRest and stretch day for me. I also didn't get all my water in - hoping the uptick is just that. Tonight is bingo with the Mom and the gang. Celebrating my birthday (and one of the other in Mom's circle of friends). So will have a light eating day today to make up for the cupcakes tonight. Prelogged my day and if I stick to it should still end up with a deficit. Cleaned out the closet in the workout room - another two bags to goodwill.
Aug 6: 143.2 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ช๐ฆต ๐ฆ ๐งTotally expected, the cupcake sugar high made me ravenous and when I got home I binged - added another 650 calories of junk to the mix. Back at it today. Good thing is that I won for a change - went bingo twice, and won the $10 door prize.
WEEK TWO

Aug 7: 142.9 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ซ ๐ฆ๐งGood day yesterday. Didn't get the expected amount of rain they were predicting, so got in my AM walk. We also took a drive to the shore, took a little stroll down the boardwalk at the mouth of the Connecticut River.
Aug 8: 143.4 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ช๐ฆตOver my sodium goal yesterday and my calorie limit was 12 calories over - I know not by much but the sodium on top of it and the scale shows every bit of my being off plan. I haven't been sleeping well either which I think contributes to the scale. Today is my actual birthday (64), but not doing much today - will celebrate tomorrow and Saturday when Allyson will be here.
Aug 9: 144.5 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ซ๐ฆตOut last night to celebrate my birthday. I logged everything and it wasn't pretty. But I did have a nice time.
Aug 10: 143.5 ๐ ๐ฅ ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ฆ ๐ก๐ง Back to where I started at the beginning of the month. Hopefully can make a dent downward before I leave on my trip on Thursday (three day girls outting). Rest day yesterday. Allyson stayed most of the day. She is writing a book and when she finishes a chapter she reads them to me. I got two this weekend. ๐ฅฐ Then we went out on the boat for a bit, took a little plunge in the water. Had our dinner at lunchtime, then Allyson headed home. I got a new tv for my workout room - so after she left set that up.

Aug 12: 143 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ซ ๐ฆ ๐ก๐งHarvested the potted potatoes yesterday - got about 15 pounds in the six pots. Still have a few plants that we sowed in the ground - we are leaving those for now - they don't appear to be finished quite yet. Yup, next year potatoes and tomatoes - that's all that seems to grow well. We have another woodchuck that just consumed the peppers and squash plants - Greg saw him crawl over the gate! It hasn't been a great year for the garden.
Aug 13: 142.6 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ช๐งโโ๏ธ๐ฆ ๐ก๐งWent for nice walk yesterday - we were going to our usual spot but the bridge over the river was closed so had to turn around. Stopped at Machimoodus state park. We haven't been here in a really long time.
WEEK THREE
Aug 14: 142.4 ๐ ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ซ๐ฆต ๐ฆ ๐ก Went to Allyson's yesterday AM, she was having issues with the new chromebook she bought - apparently the office 365 app not compatible - so since she bought it to work on her book during her lunchbreaks - it is being returned. I thought maybe I could figure out a way to get there on the web - but couldn't get it done. Then I got home and checked the garden, I was going to pull out the eaten squash and found a hiding squash in the one plant that wasn't demolished - HUGE - almost three pounds. They aren't as good when then get big. Oh well, tried a new skinnytaste receipe for Stuffed Zucchini. It was tasty. Tomorrow AM going on my trip with the girls - so won't be posting for the next few days. We are off to Turning Stone Casino for three days of fun and gambling. I met this milestone yesterday!
Aug 15: ๐ ๐ก Didn't think I would check in today because of my trip - but leaving later than I anticipated. Diisasterous day; I made cookies for the trip and of course had to taste them. Tasting led to a sugar binge - chip binge - a beer. Typical for me - I go off plan just a bit and it is like it is a freedom to do whatever I want. The good part of yesterday was that I tried my paddleboard. I didn't stand up on it - tried but the wobbling of it wasn't good for my knee and didn't want to re-injure it - so just did it kneeling; it was fun. My plan for the trip is to get up earlier than the others and head to the fitness room for a treadmill walk. If I still have time I might do some MFP (bringing my laptop) before my roomies rise. Hope I don't wake them. That's the plan anyway - we'll see if I can get my butt out of bed after a night out.

Aug 18: 147.3 ๐ฃ ๐ซI'm back and it isn't pretty; and I only have three days before my next trip. I am back at it full swing for the next few days - then going away for a couple days to celebrate our anniversary and then I'll have nine days to try to get back to my August starting weight. Yikes, it's going to be a tough one. I did have a wonderful time - spent a lot of $, obviously I ate a lot of junk, too much salt, too much sugar, no fruits and veggies to talk about, but it was nice to get away with the girls. We do this once a year and every year one of us has one big. I had my year last time so wasn't expecting it. My younger sister did well this time around!

Way above my calories and salt yesterday, and the scale reflecting it. It was the evening something-tasty-to-much-on-while-I-read monster! I had done well up to that point though. Darn flavor! ๐๐๐
Anyway, I actually don't feel horrible about it, I will try again to rein it in today. If the weather holds, I'll be playing disc golf๐ฅ with Allen and The Old Guys this afternoon. I'm looking forward to it.

Apparently it's an electrical short in the transmission. It's an automatic verses a stick shift, and Allen seems to know how to massage the pedals and tachometer, and so he's been stubbornly driving it back and forth to work! ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐คฆ๐คฆ๐คฆ
I'm hoping he takes some dedicated time to get under there and see what's going on, or take it to a shop, because I'm not comfortable driving it or riding in it until he gets it figured out. I've given him my thoughts and boundaries on the subject and now the ball is in his court.

I'm Cindy. I'm 50, 5'4" and 159.6 as of Aug 1st. Lost 4.6 lbs in July. I didn't quite reach my goal weight for July, but I was close. I have fought with the same 10lbs for the last year.
So my doctor wants to put me on Wegovy or Zepbound. Between the cost and doing a little research, I don't think its a great solution for me. Looks like it might be a rest of life commitment. No thank you!
Started at the gym 7/3. Been going 5 days a week. Missed a few days due to life.
I see my doctor again at the end of August, so I want to loose at least 10 lbs by then to prove I can do it without meds. My ultimate goal is 135 lbs.

Aug 1st - 159.6 - Used the rowing machine at the gym for the first time. My friend and I liked it. Why aren't more people using it. No one is ever on it.
Aug 2nd - 160 - Probably the few bites of cookies I had after dinner last night. My daughter wanted Crumble Cookie. How could I say no after the crazy week we have had?

Aug 15th - 158.4 - The scale needs to move down! Weights and cardio for about an hour afterwork yesterday. Only ate a salad with tomatoes and cucumber last night for dinner. I won't say what I ate for lunch. I think the lesson learned is eat a lighter dinner and a heavier lunch.
Aug 16th - 157.8 - Makes a difference when I stay away from bread. Now for the weekend. Have party to attend for my husband's grandfather tomorrow. He will be 101 and still going strong. Drives and lives by himself. It will be pool side so I probably won't want to eat much because its Texas and it will be hot tomorrow.
Aug 17th - 157.4 - Yay! I made it to the gym 5 times this week. I always take Saturday and Sunday off, so just have to watch what I eat over the weekend. I have a week and a half until my doctor appointment.

08/17- DNW -(Trend Weight DNW)- I forgot my weekly Fosamax yesterday so I took it this morning, therefore, itโs a no-weigh Saturday. Yesterday was not good. I ended up skipping dinner because of too many snacks. Not healthy or right on any level. My stomach just seems to be a bottomless pit right now. Iโm hoping for a better day today but already I am staving off hunger. Choices will be key today. Too bad they werenโt key yesterday. I had all my food choices pre-planned and pre-logged but only followed through until lunch.

My July Reflection for anyone who cares to read:July Reflection
July was a tough month for me. I do not really understand why I lost motivation this month, but probably a combination of not being able to do my normal exercise routine coupled with getting close to my goal and self-sabotage.
I lost 1.5 pounds this month. My goal was to at least lose 2% of my body weight which would have been about 3 pounds. I got close for a couple of days โ but then went over the top and gained some back. The good thing is that I got back at it right away and did not allow the one-day binges to continue into a weekend, or weeklong binge. Down 84.5 pounds since I started this journey.
Exercise was different for me this month as well. The doctor asked that complete non weight bearing exercises, so no real walking. My strength, cardio, stretch, and steps were all done in the chair most of the month. I did get the green light to start up again at the end of the month and am slowly transitioning from chair to standing.
Now for the good news โ I reached the 1,500-mile marker on my quest to walk 2,024 miles in 2024, logging about 150 miles in July (mostly seated). I found a place on my Garmin app which gives me the total intentional exercise time โ so much easier for me to track my second goal which was 2,024 miles of intentional exercise (I count 20 minutes as a mile). I was previously doing it on an excel spreadsheet โ which probably wasnโt too accurate. With this new calculation I am at 1,181 miles to date โ just where I should be to complete it for the year. I can do it.
There are a lot of obstacles in my way for the month of August. Family picnic this weekend, followed by my birthday, then a three-day girlโs trip to Turning Stone Casino, and then finally a three-day trip for my wedding anniversary. With that in mind am going to keep the same goal as July โ a 2% loss. Yes, I would love to see that ideal number (3.5 pounds), but that dangling carrot hasnโt helped me with my goals, so am going to shoot for that in September when it is much more reachable. It is also break time for both the Hogwarts and BLC challenges โ so need to motivate myself โ not as easy to do.
I have thought a lot about what my final goal should be. My initial goal was five pounds under the ideal range or 135 pounds. But when I look at myself, I still do not see fit. So am adjusting it to 100-pound loss or January 8, 2025 (my two-year starting date) whichever comes first.

PRIOR WEEKSAug 1: 142.8 ๐ ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ช ๐ฆ ๐ง I'll never get it - didn't really do anything different - but a nice swish. Nothing exciting happening - end of the month is reflection and budget day so spent a good amount of time at the computer. I added a new goal this month - declutter - thinking one declutter thing a week. We'll see how that goes on my goal to become more minimalistic. My Aunt cancelled the family picnic that was planned for this weekend. My other Aunt is up from Florida and we were all going to get together - but it is supposed to rain all day so she cancelled. I'm sorry to see it because I haven't seen a couple of my cousins in a long time - but one less temptation this month is probably a good thing as August is filled with one to many for me.
Aug 2: 142.7 ๐๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ฆต๐ซ ๐ฆ ๐งNice day yesterday, went out on the boat, a little dip in the water. I love our little lake (which only town resisdents can use). I counted the boats that were on the water - 2 boats, 1 jet ski, and a paddle board (plus us). My knee was feeling great yesterday, and I got in 17K steps. This was my daily goal pre knee injury so was so happy to see it. I'm feeling a little sore this morning though, so will curb it a little today.
Aug 3: 142.4 ๐๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ช ๐ฆ ๐งHot and Humid in Connecticut yesterday. Got our walk in, but was super sticky. We harvested our first pot of potatoes (we picked the little one to see how they were doing) and got seven good potatoes from the pot. Super happy with that. After a terrible garden year, it was nice to see some profits from our work. We talked about next year's garden and all we can seem to grown this year is tomatoes and potatoes (and ok arugula). Even the fruit trees - no apples, no pears - we do have peaches but the squirrels are taking them one by one before they are ripe. No big plans for today - it's also going to be a hot and humid one.
Aug 4: 142.5 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ฆต๐ซ ๐ฆ ๐งOne of my spare bedrooms has my treadmill in it and a weight machine. We had a twin sized bed in there as well (it was Allyson's room way back when). Finally decided to get rid of the bed. Also cleaned out the bureau - now the bureau is empty (going to move some things from my bedroom to make it so my closet isn't stuffed) and we moved the ab chair into the room. Threw away a big bag of stuff, another big bag going to good will and a couple bags of stuff for Allyson to go through. If she doesn't want it another two bags to goodwill. Now it is truely a workout room. ๐
Aug 5: 142.9 ๐ ๐ฅ ๐งโโ๏ธ๐งRest and stretch day for me. I also didn't get all my water in - hoping the uptick is just that. Tonight is bingo with the Mom and the gang. Celebrating my birthday (and one of the other in Mom's circle of friends). So will have a light eating day today to make up for the cupcakes tonight. Prelogged my day and if I stick to it should still end up with a deficit. Cleaned out the closet in the workout room - another two bags to goodwill.
Aug 6: 143.2 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ช๐ฆต ๐ฆ ๐งTotally expected, the cupcake sugar high made me ravenous and when I got home I binged - added another 650 calories of junk to the mix. Back at it today. Good thing is that I won for a change - went bingo twice, and won the $10 door prize.
WEEK TWO
Aug 7: 142.9 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ซ ๐ฆ๐งGood day yesterday. Didn't get the expected amount of rain they were predicting, so got in my AM walk. We also took a drive to the shore, took a little stroll down the boardwalk at the mouth of the Connecticut River.
Aug 8: 143.4 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ช๐ฆตOver my sodium goal yesterday and my calorie limit was 12 calories over - I know not by much but the sodium on top of it and the scale shows every bit of my being off plan. I haven't been sleeping well either which I think contributes to the scale. Today is my actual birthday (64), but not doing much today - will celebrate tomorrow and Saturday when Allyson will be here.
Aug 9: 144.5 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ซ๐ฆตOut last night to celebrate my birthday. I logged everything and it wasn't pretty. But I did have a nice time.
Aug 10: 143.5 ๐ ๐ฅ ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ฆ ๐ก๐ง Back to where I started at the beginning of the month. Hopefully can make a dent downward before I leave on my trip on Thursday (three day girls outting). Rest day yesterday. Allyson stayed most of the day. She is writing a book and when she finishes a chapter she reads them to me. I got two this weekend. ๐ฅฐ Then we went out on the boat for a bit, took a little plunge in the water. Had our dinner at lunchtime, then Allyson headed home. I got a new tv for my workout room - so after she left set that up.

Aug 12: 143 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ซ ๐ฆ ๐ก๐งHarvested the potted potatoes yesterday - got about 15 pounds in the six pots. Still have a few plants that we sowed in the ground - we are leaving those for now - they don't appear to be finished quite yet. Yup, next year potatoes and tomatoes - that's all that seems to grow well. We have another woodchuck that just consumed the peppers and squash plants - Greg saw him crawl over the gate! It hasn't been a great year for the garden.

Aug 14: 142.4 ๐ ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ซ๐ฆต ๐ฆ ๐ก Went to Allyson's yesterday AM, she was having issues with the new chromebook she bought - apparently the office 365 app not compatible - so since she bought it to work on her book during her lunchbreaks - it is being returned. I thought maybe I could figure out a way to get there on the web - but couldn't get it done. Then I got home and checked the garden, I was going to pull out the eaten squash and found a hiding squash in the one plant that wasn't demolished - HUGE - almost three pounds. They aren't as good when then get big. Oh well, tried a new skinnytaste receipe for Stuffed Zucchini. It was tasty. Tomorrow AM going on my trip with the girls - so won't be posting for the next few days. We are off to Turning Stone Casino for three days of fun and gambling. I met this milestone yesterday!
Aug 15: ๐ ๐ก Didn't think I would check in today because of my trip - but leaving later than I anticipated. Diisasterous day; I made cookies for the trip and of course had to taste them. Tasting led to a sugar binge - chip binge - a beer. Typical for me - I go off plan just a bit and it is like it is a freedom to do whatever I want. The good part of yesterday was that I tried my paddleboard. I didn't stand up on it - tried but the wobbling of it wasn't good for my knee and didn't want to re-injure it - so just did it kneeling; it was fun. My plan for the trip is to get up earlier than the others and head to the fitness room for a treadmill walk. If I still have time I might do some MFP (bringing my laptop) before my roomies rise. Hope I don't wake them. That's the plan anyway - we'll see if I can get my butt out of bed after a night out.

I am back at it full swing for the next few days - then going away for a couple days to celebrate our anniversary and then I'll have nine days to try to get back to my August starting weight. Yikes, it's going to be a tough one. I did have a wonderful time - spent a lot of $, obviously I ate a lot of junk, too much salt, too much sugar, no fruits and veggies to talk about, but it was nice to get away with the girls. We do this once a year and every year one of us has one big. I had my year last time so wasn't expecting it. My younger sister did well this time around!

I have been on this weight loss journey since January 2023, and with this group since April 2023. I have lost 84.5 pounds since the beginning of my journey. My July Reflection for anyone who cares to read:July Reflection
July was a tough month for me. I do not really understand why I lost motivation this month, but probably a combination of not being able to do my normal exercise routine coupled with getting close to my goal and self-sabotage.
I lost 1.5 pounds this month. My goal was to at least lose 2% of my body weight which would have been about 3 pounds. I got close for a couple of days โ but then went over the top and gained some back. The good thing is that I got back at it right away and did not allow the one-day binges to continue into a weekend, or weeklong binge. Down 84.5 pounds since I started this journey.
Exercise was different for me this month as well. The doctor asked that complete non weight bearing exercises, so no real walking. My strength, cardio, stretch, and steps were all done in the chair most of the month. I did get the green light to start up again at the end of the month and am slowly transitioning from chair to standing.
Now for the good news โ I reached the 1,500-mile marker on my quest to walk 2,024 miles in 2024, logging about 150 miles in July (mostly seated). I found a place on my Garmin app which gives me the total intentional exercise time โ so much easier for me to track my second goal which was 2,024 miles of intentional exercise (I count 20 minutes as a mile). I was previously doing it on an excel spreadsheet โ which probably wasnโt too accurate. With this new calculation I am at 1,181 miles to date โ just where I should be to complete it for the year. I can do it.
There are a lot of obstacles in my way for the month of August. Family picnic this weekend, followed by my birthday, then a three-day girlโs trip to Turning Stone Casino, and then finally a three-day trip for my wedding anniversary. With that in mind am going to keep the same goal as July โ a 2% loss. Yes, I would love to see that ideal number (3.5 pounds), but that dangling carrot hasnโt helped me with my goals, so am going to shoot for that in September when it is much more reachable. It is also break time for both the Hogwarts and BLC challenges โ so need to motivate myself โ not as easy to do.
I have thought a lot about what my final goal should be. My initial goal was five pounds under the ideal range or 135 pounds. But when I look at myself, I still do not see fit. So am adjusting it to 100-pound loss or January 8, 2025 (my two-year starting date) whichever comes first.

PRIOR WEEKSAug 1: 142.8 ๐ ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ช ๐ฆ ๐ง I'll never get it - didn't really do anything different - but a nice swish. Nothing exciting happening - end of the month is reflection and budget day so spent a good amount of time at the computer. I added a new goal this month - declutter - thinking one declutter thing a week. We'll see how that goes on my goal to become more minimalistic. My Aunt cancelled the family picnic that was planned for this weekend. My other Aunt is up from Florida and we were all going to get together - but it is supposed to rain all day so she cancelled. I'm sorry to see it because I haven't seen a couple of my cousins in a long time - but one less temptation this month is probably a good thing as August is filled with one to many for me.
Aug 2: 142.7 ๐๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ฆต๐ซ ๐ฆ ๐งNice day yesterday, went out on the boat, a little dip in the water. I love our little lake (which only town resisdents can use). I counted the boats that were on the water - 2 boats, 1 jet ski, and a paddle board (plus us). My knee was feeling great yesterday, and I got in 17K steps. This was my daily goal pre knee injury so was so happy to see it. I'm feeling a little sore this morning though, so will curb it a little today.
Aug 3: 142.4 ๐๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ช ๐ฆ ๐งHot and Humid in Connecticut yesterday. Got our walk in, but was super sticky. We harvested our first pot of potatoes (we picked the little one to see how they were doing) and got seven good potatoes from the pot. Super happy with that. After a terrible garden year, it was nice to see some profits from our work. We talked about next year's garden and all we can seem to grown this year is tomatoes and potatoes (and ok arugula). Even the fruit trees - no apples, no pears - we do have peaches but the squirrels are taking them one by one before they are ripe. No big plans for today - it's also going to be a hot and humid one.
Aug 4: 142.5 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ฆต๐ซ ๐ฆ ๐งOne of my spare bedrooms has my treadmill in it and a weight machine. We had a twin sized bed in there as well (it was Allyson's room way back when). Finally decided to get rid of the bed. Also cleaned out the bureau - now the bureau is empty (going to move some things from my bedroom to make it so my closet isn't stuffed) and we moved the ab chair into the room. Threw away a big bag of stuff, another big bag going to good will and a couple bags of stuff for Allyson to go through. If she doesn't want it another two bags to goodwill. Now it is truely a workout room. ๐
Aug 5: 142.9 ๐ ๐ฅ ๐งโโ๏ธ๐งRest and stretch day for me. I also didn't get all my water in - hoping the uptick is just that. Tonight is bingo with the Mom and the gang. Celebrating my birthday (and one of the other in Mom's circle of friends). So will have a light eating day today to make up for the cupcakes tonight. Prelogged my day and if I stick to it should still end up with a deficit. Cleaned out the closet in the workout room - another two bags to goodwill.
Aug 6: 143.2 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ช๐ฆต ๐ฆ ๐งTotally expected, the cupcake sugar high made me ravenous and when I got home I binged - added another 650 calories of junk to the mix. Back at it today. Good thing is that I won for a change - went bingo twice, and won the $10 door prize.
WEEK TWO
Aug 7: 142.9 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ซ ๐ฆ๐งGood day yesterday. Didn't get the expected amount of rain they were predicting, so got in my AM walk. We also took a drive to the shore, took a little stroll down the boardwalk at the mouth of the Connecticut River.
Aug 8: 143.4 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ช๐ฆตOver my sodium goal yesterday and my calorie limit was 12 calories over - I know not by much but the sodium on top of it and the scale shows every bit of my being off plan. I haven't been sleeping well either which I think contributes to the scale. Today is my actual birthday (64), but not doing much today - will celebrate tomorrow and Saturday when Allyson will be here.
Aug 9: 144.5 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ซ๐ฆตOut last night to celebrate my birthday. I logged everything and it wasn't pretty. But I did have a nice time.
Aug 10: 143.5 ๐ ๐ฅ ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ฆ ๐ก๐ง Back to where I started at the beginning of the month. Hopefully can make a dent downward before I leave on my trip on Thursday (three day girls outting). Rest day yesterday. Allyson stayed most of the day. She is writing a book and when she finishes a chapter she reads them to me. I got two this weekend. ๐ฅฐ Then we went out on the boat for a bit, took a little plunge in the water. Had our dinner at lunchtime, then Allyson headed home. I got a new tv for my workout room - so after she left set that up.

Aug 12: 143 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ซ ๐ฆ ๐ก๐งHarvested the potted potatoes yesterday - got about 15 pounds in the six pots. Still have a few plants that we sowed in the ground - we are leaving those for now - they don't appear to be finished quite yet. Yup, next year potatoes and tomatoes - that's all that seems to grow well. We have another woodchuck that just consumed the peppers and squash plants - Greg saw him crawl over the gate! It hasn't been a great year for the garden.
Aug 13: 142.6 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ช๐งโโ๏ธ๐ฆ ๐ก๐งWent for nice walk yesterday - we were going to our usual spot but the bridge over the river was closed so had to turn around. Stopped at Machimoodus state park. We haven't been here in a really long time.

Aug 14: 142.4 ๐ ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ซ๐ฆต ๐ฆ ๐ก Went to Allyson's yesterday AM, she was having issues with the new chromebook she bought - apparently the office 365 app not compatible - so since she bought it to work on her book during her lunchbreaks - it is being returned. I thought maybe I could figure out a way to get there on the web - but couldn't get it done. Then I got home and checked the garden, I was going to pull out the eaten squash and found a hiding squash in the one plant that wasn't demolished - HUGE - almost three pounds. They aren't as good when then get big. Oh well, tried a new skinnytaste receipe for Stuffed Zucchini. It was tasty. Tomorrow AM going on my trip with the girls - so won't be posting for the next few days. We are off to Turning Stone Casino for three days of fun and gambling. I met this milestone yesterday!
Aug 15: ๐ ๐ก Didn't think I would check in today because of my trip - but leaving later than I anticipated. Diisasterous day; I made cookies for the trip and of course had to taste them. Tasting led to a sugar binge - chip binge - a beer. Typical for me - I go off plan just a bit and it is like it is a freedom to do whatever I want. The good part of yesterday was that I tried my paddleboard. I didn't stand up on it - tried but the wobbling of it wasn't good for my knee and didn't want to re-injure it - so just did it kneeling; it was fun. My plan for the trip is to get up earlier than the others and head to the fitness room for a treadmill walk. If I still have time I might do some MFP (bringing my laptop) before my roomies rise. Hope I don't wake them. That's the plan anyway - we'll see if I can get my butt out of bed after a night out.

I am back at it full swing for the next few days - then going away for a couple days to celebrate our anniversary and then I'll have nine days to try to get back to my August starting weight. Yikes, it's going to be a tough one. I did have a wonderful time - spent a lot of $, obviously I ate a lot of junk, too much salt, too much sugar, no fruits and veggies to talk about, but it was nice to get away with the girls. We do this once a year and every year one of us has one big. I had my year last time so wasn't expecting it. My younger sister did well this time around!

Aug 20: 143.5 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ช๐ซ ๐ฆ ๐ก๐ง Another great day, another swish from the girls trip bloat. Down to my August starting weight. I skipped bingo night out with Mom and the gang so no goodies! We leave for our Anniversary trip tomorrow (37 years). I expect a rise again, but not as bad as the girls trip. We are going to Mystic, Connecticut for 2 nights (you might remember the village from the movie Mystic Pizza movie from the 80's). It's just a 50 minute drive away, but still a get away for us. Then when I get back - no more obstacles for a bit! Phew! I hope to at least lose this month, even if it's just a couple tenths of a pound.

@ozdeelite That downwards streak looks good on you! I have been doing the 2 meals a day thing since I got back from my trip and yes, it makes a difference. I don't know if I could do the one meal. I had a lot of success at the beginning of my weight loss journey eating in an eight our window - don't know why I stopped that - I should defintely start doing that again.
@cattherien Have you ever tracked how the double shifts affect your weight loss? Just wondering what impact it had if any.

Hi,
I'm Cindy. I'm 50, 5'4" and 159.6 as of Aug 1st. Lost 4.6 lbs in July. I didn't quite reach my goal weight for July, but I was close. I have fought with the same 10lbs for the last year.
So my doctor wants to put me on Wegovy or Zepbound. Between the cost and doing a little research, I don't think its a great solution for me. Looks like it might be a rest of life commitment. No thank you!
Started at the gym 7/3. Been going 5 days a week. Missed a few days due to life.
I see my doctor again at the end of August, so I want to loose at least 10 lbs by then to prove I can do it without meds. My ultimate goal is 135 lbs.

Aug 13th - 158.6 - Ugh! Why? Not looking good to meet my goal. I have my doctor appointment on the 27th. I'm afraid she will try to push the drugs again.

Aug 15th - 158.4 - The scale needs to move down! Weights and cardio for about an hour afterwork yesterday. Only ate a salad with tomatoes and cucumber last night for dinner. I won't say what I ate for lunch. I think the lesson learned is eat a lighter dinner and a heavier lunch.
Aug 16th - 157.8 - Makes a difference when I stay away from bread. Now for the weekend. Have party to attend for my husband's grandfather tomorrow. He will be 101 and still going strong. Drives and lives by himself. It will be pool side so I probably won't want to eat much because its Texas and it will be hot tomorrow.
Aug 17th - 157.4 - Yay! I made it to the gym 5 times this week. I always take Saturday and Sunday off, so just have to watch what I eat over the weekend. I have a week and a half until my doctor appointment.
Aug 18th - 156.6 - Can't believe it. Getting super close to my goal. I might just make it by the day of my doctor appointment.
Aug 19th - 157.6 - And my body says just kidding. Ugh!
Aug 20th - 158 - No gym yesterday. Had to take my daughter to the dentist after work. Ate Frito Pie for dinner. Too much salt. Surprised my gain wasn't more. Will be at the gym after work today, so hopefully will be back down tomorrow.2 -

Met all my daily goals except salt yesterday, and the scale is trending down again. ๐ I planned a reading snack into my calories this time, so it wasn't a guilty pleasure, just a happy one.
I did decide to continue reading the Harry Potter series into book 4, The Goblet of Fire. The story line takes a much darker turn from this novel onward, and I'm not sure I will continue with it, but I'm going to give it a shot. If I start having any nightmares, I'll switch stories into Stephen Lawhead's Pendragon series, or The Belgariad series by David and Leigh Eddings.
I am in avoidance mode with sewing again. I need to do some YouTube research on using my daughter's baby serger. I've never had success the few times I've tried an overlock machine. But I have some knit sweaters that I want to shorten the sleeves, and I know an overlock stitch is the right choice. I'm just afraid to ruin them and feel defeated. Hence avoidance. ๐คฆ
My coworker is in the hospital, so I worked a double shift yesterday; I work today, usually my day off, a morning shift. Then I need to take a short mind-cleansing nap, then go grocery shopping and do what meal prep I can, for the rest of the week. I work doubles Wed -Fri, then a single on Saturday. If the coworker isn't able to come back to work next week, and it sounds like that's gonna be the case, then I'll need to rinse and repeat my work schedule next week.

I haven't worked doubles in about 4 years, I've avoided them if I can because they're emotionally so draining. But back then, I wasn't specifically tracking the effect they had on my weight, though I was tracking the scale at the time.

@cattherien The windows are done and we are still waiting for the roofing supplies to arrive by delivery. Right now he is working on a deck in the backyard. He will also be doing a much smaller one off a doorwall on the side of the house connected to my patio door in my bedroom. The siding is all done except for the 4 dormers on top of the house. The roof needs to be done first so that can tie in. I'm ordering 6 new outdoor lights. I will also be ordering a new back door, new front door, and new patio slider door that will lead to the new back deck. Some flower boxes for front of house and probably for deck too will be built. Lots of finishing touches to be done on the outside. Exhausting!

Trying again today and hoping to reach that better mindset when the skies become dark and night time surrounds me. I finished the 2 season series โFirefly Laneโ last night on Netflix. Wow. It will stay with me for awhile.
08/20- 189.4 -(Trend Weight 190.9 )- I made homemade jalepeno poppers last night for dinner at 9:30 pm. They were so rich with the cream cheese that I couldnโt snack later except for a square of 70% dark chocolate hours later. I ate the number of poppers that I usually do, but it seemed too much this time. Next time I will make less, so I call that a NSV. I stayed within all my macros. I released a lot of water too, but why does it have to happen in the middle of the night? Sleep was still more hours than usual even though constantly disrupted. Iโm feeling hopeful today after this scale drop. I also feel like I know where I really am on the scale without the bloat in my ankles. I woke up 30 minutes before my alarm and used the extra time to do a youtube video workout. Yay me when I do the right things!
