    Hate to be the bearer of bad news, Josh, but muscle gain is simply NOT fast. Under ideal conditions, new lifters MIGHT gain up to half a pound / quarter kilo of muscle per week, and experienced lifters only a fraction of that. If you keep up, over time this slow gain can add up to impressive results: imagine yourself a year from now with 12-24 pounds of muscle added, you'll look like a new man! BUT it takes time, it takes discipline, it takes consistency, it takes patience.

    Now, to your question about what foods are best for muscle growth? You need two things to grow muscle: the building blocks for the body to use, and a reason for the body to choose to make muscle instead of fat. The building blocks come in the form of calories above maintenance, including a hefty dose of protein; aim for 250-500 calories per day over maintenance, with at least 0.7g of protein per pound of bodyweight. The body will want to store these additional calories as fat unless it has a reason to choose muscle, and you provide that reason through a strength-training regimen (aka lifting weights).

    Try to gain weight fast, most of the weight gained will be fat, not muscle. Skip the lifting, the gain will be fat, not muscle. So take it slow, lift smart, you will get results.
