Hey all!

I've bene using this app consistently for a month now and I'm super proud of all the changes I've made in my eating habits, cut alcohol, lots of water and added lots of walking in. But the scale has not moved and I'm so discouraged!! Any advice??

Thanks!!

If not losing its 100% due to eating too many calories.

If I were you, I would reexamine what you're eating and scale it back. If you were in a deficit for a month, you would definitely shed some weight.

You’ve lost zero? Stayed absolutely the same, with no movement? I ask because sometimes people have the expectation that they’ll lose 5, 10, even 20 pounds in a month based on something they’ve seen or read. These ads “lose 50 pounds in a week with this one wierd trick!” worm their way into people’s psyche and mess with their expectations.

If you’ve lost something, rather than what you expected, take that as a win and adjust- within reason- from there. Fast loss is the path to failure.

You also don’t state how close you are to goal. I started well over 220. I easily lost ten a month the first few months. But the closer you are to “normal” BMI, the loss slows drastically. It can take a month or two to shed a couple pounds. If you’re already normal or very close to, very slow losses absolutely normal- and desirable.

Did you start a new exercise? Are you sore from walking? Thighs or calves burning? Doing the duck walk following unfamiliar exercise? Your body will retain water to heal and will eventually flush it out.

I work out quite a bit- weights, power yoga, swimming and more. Following a two week holiday, I was back in the gym Monday. By Tuesday my thighs were sore and painful- even after that short a hiatus. I “gained” five pounds overnight. It’s coming off a bit per day, as the pain subsides.

I didn’t even know this was a thing until I asked a question similar to yours when I began.

Also check out the NSV (non scale victories) thread over on Success Stories.

You’ve made so many wonderful changes, some of these thousands of micro-successes may resonate with you.

I’ve read every single one of them. They helped me through the frustrating times because I could identify with all of them.

Sometimes when we lose quite a bit our bodies just need an adjustment time. Keep on going, you'll get there. Have you recalulated your current weight and exercise to see how many calories should be eating. If you are to low or to high, it'll lead to not losing. Sometimes it can be 8 weeks plus when we hit a plateau. You are doing great!! Would you like to have some added support? Join us on the 5% Challenge!!
