Hello, I’m starting my Low Glycemic Index journey. Has anyone else have success on this food plan? I'm have a big problem with blood sugar spikes and going low blood sugar where I get feeling bad. I tend to get cravings a lot. I’d love an accountability partner

One important reason hypoglycemia happens is because of the insulin response where that glucose is removed and inadvertently it takes out too much glucose and then blood glucose falls below base line causing people to be hungry, tired and angry and then people eat more to alleviate that condition which then elevates blood glucose and the rollercoaster begins.
A very low carb diet or ketogenic diet removes most carbs and blood glucose therefore isn't elevated very much and stays steady which reduces and basically eliminates hypoglycemia altogether, but it still can happen but it will be from things like exercise, medication, stress for example but dietarily removing carbs removes the main mechanism that causes large insulin spikes.
There's of course nuance to that and this is basically a simplistic explanation but I'm just generally saying that carbs and especially fast digesting ones are the actual mechanism. A ketogenic diet also acts upon our satiety hormones and most, almost all will experience their hunger disappear as well, so that basically eliminates the desire for carbs. It's tough to be on this diet so it's about how much your health and well being is important to you. Dopamine is a sexy thing and most like to eat things that increase the feeling of happy happy, and who doesn't like feeling that way and it looks like about 75% of the population. Low glycemic sounds good but it's still sugar in the end and the spikes might be smaller but they're going to still happen and the probability that that ice cream or cream tart looks good is pretty high, give it a try but if that doesn't work try lowering your carbs and also consume low glycemic and consume protein and fat before you consume carbs simply because that will also help reduce the insulin response. Good luck.0
