Barbie, whooshing healing, comfort and blessings to Jake, you and the pooches. Deeply grateful that you were able to start us off for November despite all you’re going through. ((hugs held extra long)).
For all struggling with Medicare A, B, D, Medigap and/or Medicare C Advantage plans, contact your state SHIBA advisor for one on one counseling. https://www.shiphelp.org/about-medicare/regional-ship-location
    Thanks$Carol! :love: your maple. Do you know the variety? I often have to google Heather’s shopping list and menus, and sometimes the answers are inconclusive. Are escalopes veal cutlets or lamb chops? Your den project is inspiring. Taking it one wall at a time makes it seem possible… maybe… ;}
Okie yours, Beth’s, Machka’s et al’s to Allie about all the candy at the daycare. WOW.
Rebecca when do you visit Athena Rose and Eli again? Did y’all bob for apples at the clothing optional resort? :naughty: Had the same question as Carol about your new hair protocol. Will be interested to learn how it works out. What you said about not wanting to be a grumpy Gus with age, even despite pain. I think loneliness is another factor, without other people to give us positive energy it could be easy to become bitter.
Kay belated best birthday wishes. I’m with Lanette, who is that spiffily dressed and coiffed 40 year old?
Lanette do you think a sunset maple would produce such a brilliant show here on the southern Oregon coast? Is the color dependent on the environment, soil, weather? Thanks for the baking soda and white vinegar tip. Read it too late for the cleanup of Moose’s upchucking today. No idea what triggered it, maybe the deer leg he brought Joe yesterday. SMH. Con VERY gratulations on the labs! T’s grand daughter is another cute little punkin.
    Lisa love, your house. All your hard work really shows well. Love, love, that laptop runner, looks just like Egg! :laugh: Love, love :LOVE: the afghan you made for Corey. Never knew you could knit/crochet in plaid ;}
Machka I so admire your food resilience/independence, tireless research and caregiving. You are a true role model.
Heather ((hugs)). So hard to hear about your ex’s severely compromised health, hope the dialysis gives him some improved quality of life. Likewise to hear of your brother’s struggles. So brave of him to give flashes of his pre-cancer-treatment self despite the pain and vomiting. ((hugs held extra long)) Brava for all the writing! “GF Vegan Suet”? I thought suet was beef fat? You and Johnny inspire me to start Christmas baking… almond crescents first . . . Glad I no longer bake 17 lbs of fruitcake every Christmas, turned out I was the only one who liked it .
Annie does Jell-o count as liquid diet food? Beef bouillon? So sorry you’re going through this on top of your Dad’s issues. Would Teddy use a puppy pad? I believe all senior dogs need a safe place to go in an emergency. Saves them the guilt and makes the cleanup easier. Hope your sister will be there for the prep day too, it’s the worst part and you wouldn’t be able to help your dad from the throne…
Thanks Rita! Added headphones to my Amazon wish list. Such a sad story about Jim, and by extension so many other seniors who have no one left. Good luck with the PT and MIR!
Vicki thinking of you as you begin this new journey. Had to smile at the frozen broccoli Halloween treat ;)
Margaret thanks for understanding about paper work piles. Keep us updated on attic progress, I could use the inspiration. ;) Do those flamingo skeletons glow in the dark?
Allie congrats on the weight and its impact on the low grade lupus. Loved seeing Carmine and Seth sitting with her family. So relieved she is healthy, safe and probably happier than her expression would suggest ;) Oh that Delia, what a little punkin!
Mo and Flea have I told you both lately how much I admire the work you do every day? The world is a better place because of you.
Belated welcome @PDizzleB ! thie pic of Turbo in his shark costume.
Ginny ((hugs held extra extra long) and prayers sent for clear scans.
Beth yours bout medical life predictions.
Evelyn ((hugs)) it is sad to see the last of a generation pass, and a reminder of what’s in store for us. ((hugs))
Michele fingers X'd for favorable lab results.
    TMI UTI question
No burning but plenty of itching and a little whitish discharge, could it be a UTI?
    Gratitudes:
Friday-Joe had a fire going in the wood stove when I got home from Medford. It was very welcome as I was windswept and storm-soaked.
Thursday-Eye Dr said cataracts are not too bad to wait awhile for $urgery. Dermatologist said my skin was the second best she’d seen that day, best was a 13 yo boy. No zap gun!!!
No decluttering progress, Sorry for the long post, was gone from home yesterday and today. Will summarize October results and November intentions tomorrow.

    Later, lighter, lovelies!

    2024: Strengthen: body, mind, heart-connections

On the 30th of tis month, at my sisters place in Oregon. I am excited! I video chatted with son earlier today and sweet Eli blew kisses at ne, laughed, and waved at me. 💖🤗. Be still my heart. He's just so precious! Athena was changing into actual clothes and Mom was doing her hair, so we chatted but not that much. They were heading out to a Costco run.
My hair routine was started because my hair just either felt greasy or dry. The more you wash your hair, the more the sebum oils increase, I was noticing an up tick in trying to keep it clean. So this no shampoo business is to just get my scalp to calm the F*#k down. My oil production has slowed way down and when I get my new boars hair brush, that will help to spread the oils out to the ends of my hair. Its crazy to think that not washing your hair with any product like shampoo or conditioner actually will help your head, but it does. Hair in general might get some dirt or dust in it, but as long as you massage the scalp, brush it to promote good scalp circulation, water is fine.
I know when I was watching my cousins dog without Lee around, or anyone in general I did experience loneliness. I needed the tv and lights on, and I was not happy.

Thank you, Rebecca! 😍 It is made exactly to his measure, to cover him in his favorite chair, from side to side and neck to toes. I think this is why I've had so much trouble wrapping my head around designing and creating bags, because I've always made what I make for those I love. Making them to sell is messing with me a lot. Part of why I've been up in my head - trying to figure out why I'm doing all this.

Sinuses acting up (no surprise, always happens when the weather changes) so I’ve been taking Sudafed which really dries me out. Plus, I am wide awake at 3a.m. Well...could be worse.

I would think jello would be considered clear liquid because you can have it when prepping for a colonoscopy. Just can’t have red jello

Walked down to Food Lion to get Vince bananas. I also bought an asian pear to eat on the way home.

Barbie – so glad to hear Jake is back home

Rita – what???? Jim was asked to leave the campground because he’d been there too long???? Of course, the campground was his home! Do you think the upper management people feel a wee bit guilty?

I can tell that Vince is excited about Jess bringing her cats/kittens. I can’t say that I’m as excited as he is, but I’m fine with them being here.

Better post this before Jess gets here.

    Yea Allie

Well, Jess came with her cats and dog. At first the little kitten was a bit overwhelmed. But he seems to be settling in. Tonight we put them in the back bedroom just so they have some peace and quiet. We're hoping that tomorrow night they can be in the house. Trying to get them to put them in the bedroom -- boy are they fast!

Took Ganon for a walk. By accident I dropped the leash but he came right back to the house. Guess he didn't want to go for a walk. Well, tomorrow a.m. we are going. Vince and I talked, I'll feed our cats, take Ganon out just to relieve himself, put him back in the crate, open the door for Pixel and Cosmo (Jess' cats), be sure they have food, then go downstairs to exercise. Afterwards, I'll probably take Ganon for a walk around the block.

So that's the plan for the early part of tomorrow

Barbie, I am sorry to hear about Jake. Is he in a Seattle hospital? A friend of mine is a heart surgeon and he was handling a complicated case yesterday involving a stent.

:) We live on the North Olympic Peninsula. Our local hospital is Olympic Medical Center. That's where Jake was on Friday night. His first cardiologist was in Seattle and Jake had his pacemaker/defibrillator surgery at Swedish Cherry Hill. Now his cardiologist is at St. Michael's in Silverdale which is much easier to get to for us than going to Seattle. For a variety of reasons, I can't drive too far so when Jake was at St. Michaels in August and September we had to have someone else drive. Same for appointments with the doctor.

    Good morning beautiful ladies!

Lisa Barbara and Michele yes jello is okay on my clear liquid diet. I just don't have any in the house. Amazon will deliver jello cups and powder. But the good news is that the pain is gone so I'm starting solids. A bit of rice last night and an egg this morning. I'm not good at pacing myself, so we will see how it goes. I'm relieved to get some protein, I was afraid my hair would fall out!

Rebecca so glad your youngest is into the planning stage. Sounds like he will have some good options.

Vicki hugs! Transitions are hard and scary, but you will thrive in the end!

Pip thinking of you running today. 13 miles! Wow!

Allie awesome weight loss! I bet those clothes are baggy! Good job!

Evelyn hugs for you and your family.

Barbara Yay for clear skin and for the wood stove! I miss my wood fireplace. A lot of work, but so cozy!

Kim hope things are settling down with the new roommate. There's bound to be some bumps at first, but you will find a way together.

Lisa so happy the Skyrizi is working! Yay!

Barbie hugs for you and Jake!

Katie glad your plateau is busted. Yay!

Michele hope your sinuses improve. That's quite a menagerie you have!

Debbie hugs for your MIL situation.

And hugs for all of us with election anxiety. This too shall pass.

Have a great day! May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Machka - Good to see you! Figured you were busy, and didn't want to yank on your shirt tail. Glad you're around, my friend.

Annie - Take it easy on your gut, my friend...

Rebecca - Speaking of gut issues, I'm so pleased they got a quick diagnosis for your son. It's kind of amazing what the right medications can do for this, and they have caught it early and that's a good thing. Part of the reason mine got so bad was because 60-year-olds aren't supposed to have Crohn's; it's ordinarily a young person's issue. That is part of why it took them two years to suspect it and another two to confirm it. Glad he's thinking about possible futures. My ex-Air Force son will be going back to school online (SNHU) for the third time on the VA's dime in January, so school is very much an option for your son.

Barbie - Many hugs for you and Jake and the pups. Glad he's home...

Allie - So pleased and proud for you, well done on the 40+ pounds! I know each one lost makes your life a little easier...

I'm typing to y'all while Corey mops the kitchen floor... I procrastinated long enough to skip it yesterday (😳) while we went to the grocery store. This morning, he asked me what I wanted to accomplish today, and I told him that was one of them, after I got a few other things done... and I ended up on the phone with my sister. Walked back toward the laundry room, after she hung up, and he's half done already!

    I'm keeping him. 😍

    Later, y'all,
    Love,
    Lisa in AR

They (the medical community) does state that undiagnosed, Crohn's can worsen.😥. I'm sorry they took their sweet time diagnosing you! Son did state that while Japan's medical opinions are that you use the infusions because its the most effective form of treatment, the Navy will most likely try other options when he gets to San Diego. Treatments that are seaworthy, so to speak, so he can still serve in the fleet. He is anticipating these times now as the high points in his treatment, and being kind of a Ginny pig in the states. He noted that he really doesn't have any "trigger foods" but he's eating what currently works well. In San Diego he said he'll eat whatever is all the galley, because out on the ship he would have to do the same thing. No real dietary pandering done.
Hugs, I am trying to get enough oooomph to turn on my vacuum. Making roast, potatoes, carrots and the last hunk of my bread, the heel, is like a huge rounded slice of heaven.

    Good afternoon ladies!

Annie - so glad you are doing better. <3

Rebecca- good that you talked to younger son and he got you caught up. Sounds there are good options for him down the road wherever the path leads. I also use ACV sometimes after a shampoo, it helps with an itchy scalp for sure. The only problem I ever encountered was when I was using my own homemade ACV and my head smelled like a salad, lol. So back to Bragg's.

Rita - Have a safe drive to PT!! Hope the county gets the roads and bridges taken care of quickly.

Debbie - No deli chickens in the cooler at Walmart, I didn't even see a spot for them anymore. I plan to hit town again early on Wednesday morning. If there aren't any then, I'll have to break down and roast a bird myself just like the olden days, lol. Burn the dust out of my oven. :p

Pip - ouch! Sorry Kirby had a tumble. Glad you did the "wifey" thing and helped him. Kudos to you both for doing any of these running events, no matter how long or far they are. When my DH's cousin was running in marathons, he was one of the oldest and he was in his 60's. As I recall, he had to stop due to some back pain. He always enjoyed it and liked the "high."

Seems like I was cooking all morning this morning once I got back from Walmart. It was a good trip in that the store wasn't crowded and I was able to take my time, but they were out of so many things that were on my list.

The organic Apple Cider Vinegar I use - out. The olive oil I use - out, and has been for weeks.. That's why, when I find these items I like, I buy several at a time. I might not see them for months again if ever. Thankfully I wasn't out of these things, I was just restocking the pantry.

The diabetic supplies are now locked in a glass case with a sign that the person in cosmetics has the key. Well, no person in cosmetics. I like to check my blood sugar in the morning sometimes. With this last round of labs, even though my A1C went down to 5.7, my FBS was at 107. Might try some ACV before bed and pushing breakfast off from 12 to 14 hours. We'll see.

The chickens and I are confused with the time change. They get out for their last walkabout 2 hours before sundown, so I'll need to let them out at 3 since sunset - when it gets dark enough they head to the coop to roost - is at 4:54 today.

    Reminder - Weekly Check-in tomorrow. :)
