    Hello, my dears...

Got home from my doings yesterday, curled up on the couch after I ate some lunch, and was out for nearly three hours! Kinda wrecked my night's sleep tonight, but that's OK. I'll be headed back to bed shortly, I think.

Heather - The cruise looks wonderful. So did the art from all of you!

Tracey - It makes me so happy to see you posting how positive things are at your new job. You so deserve that appreciation.

I realized a couple things about that jacket I bought earlier - I seldom buy new clothes, and when I do, they're usually just more of the same. I am not a clothes horse now and I never was. But I was really delighted with the new jacket, not just for the price, but for the color and the fit. So I took a picture. One more sign of feeling better, too, I think. I feel as if I'm coming back to life in a lot of ways.

    Later, my dears,
    Love,
    Lisa in AR

Its a great jacket, and better yet, it looks great on you! Its your color! I bought a fuzzy white sweatshirt jacket, with a cool hood that has the ramen shop logo on it. Sadly it just doesn't fit the sides of me. Its great in arms, chest, head, but its a 2X and the sides are long and snug. I have never had this happen to me, so not quite sure how to solve it. Thinking of just opening the sides, and just sewing under. I can't return it because I took off tags, and don't have the bag anymore.

And just like that, we went from mild autumn temps to 8 inches of snow. Leash-loving cat is not happy.

@dlfk202000 have you considered investing in a robot vacuum. I have one with a self emptying tower. It cost under $90. It has been one of the best things I've ever gotten. Yes it gets itself stuck from time to time, but I happily rescue it. Lol

haha- he has a couple of those too. Always looking to upgrade but keeping the others because they work perfectly.

The other thing he does the same with is 3D printers. He did give one away to a co-worker that was interested in starting out. Dh doesn't really have room for more but that didn't stop him from ordering the newest style(prints in a circle)

If it is from a Ramen shop, I am assuming it is from China/Japan/etc. Their clothes tend to run smaller than usual and a lot smaller around the middle. At most, I wear a XL but in bathing suit I bought online from an Asian company, had to get a 4X and that was snug- no room for hips or boobs in it.

I used to love vacuuming and cleaning on a regular basis. I get so lazy now. It’s funny if I do clean Rodger asks me what he’s done, because I used to love a good mad clean. πŸ˜‚

Machka - I guess a break isn’t helpful. Hopefully it all gets caught up soon.

Bedroom - None of that stuff. I do need to declutter in there but it’s mostly stuff I don’t know what to do with, but also don’t want to get rid of. Like furniture. Also, this time of year the Christmas gift collection has started so that’s bugging me.

Closet - I go through my clothes every season. I have a very tiny closet that I share so there is no room for extras. Drawers are the same I go through it too. I’ve never owned hats or scarves.

Bathroom - I need to go through that again, it’s been a while.

Kitchen- I do need to go through to check outdated food. It’s been a few months.

I don’t have a freezer or office. My craft room I’m working on though.

Lisa - I love that coat.

Heather - what a relief to hear from your brother.

Penny - I have heard others complain about beef and greasy foods after gallbladder surgery. I still have mine so no personal experience.

Allie - I remember after you were done at the dental clinic you looking after Jean’s mom and her bullying you.
Kyle sure knows how to cut deep.

Rori - we had snow yesterday morning but it’s all melted now. Supposed to be +12 tomorrow.

I debated and debated on posting this last night, and realized that the story could be about anything and we would all be aghast. I’ll put it in a spoiler.
we have a resident that doesn’t believe that there is anything wrong with him. He is inappropriate and difficult in numerous ways.
Yesterday the men at the table were talking about what they thought would happen in your election.
He says, β€œwell he’s a businessman, you put a woman in there and there’s just going to be too much chatter to get anything done”. I thought we had moved past that mentality. He is younger than my Dad when he passed and my Dad never thought that way thankfully!

I got my flu shot today. I have been waiting for the announcement that they were doing them, but unlike my previous home they don’t schedule it the same way. My arm is a bit sore tonight, I’m sure it will be fine by morning.

Rodger has burned 40 ornaments the last couple of days. I will be doing a lot of painting this weekend.

Michele - when will you have all of your decorating complete?

I’m off to bed. This time change is kicking my butt this week.

Pop a bicycle in that, make it into a card, and I'd be tempted to buy it!

I don't have any of the things on Machka's lists, apart from 'scarves I don't use'. I live in hope that I will use them, as they have come back into fashion.

    Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Scarves have been in fashion here since I moved to Australia in 2009, and probably before. Many buildings are not well insulated so they become quite cool in winter. I have a collection of scarves I used to wear, but in 2016, I became hot and haven't worn scarves, pullovers, or heavy socks since.

I keep my scarves hanging on a coat rack along with some handbags.

Has anyone else here had thier gallbladder removed find that beef stalls thier weight loss?

Additionally I didn't reveal to y'all before that I am recovering from a torn Achilles. It makes excercise painful and infrequent. I am hoping to see a physical therapist soon. The weight keeps reinjuring it. I am over 300 pounds.

Have a great day everyone! Good luck!

I still have my gallbladder but when I eat things like beef, pork, eggs, and fatty food, I have a lot of pain and feel sick. Those sorts of things are just not good for me.

I had some food from Factor delivered. It is a meal plan company. The meals are good and I am eating more vegetables...but I really don't eat the meat so probably is not a good financial decision for me. I am not a vegetarian. I just don't like meat.

    Me neither. And it hurts.

She wants to stay some place memorable and she wants views.
    Best,
    Rosemarie from Georgia

For me, the memorable places are rarely hotels.

    Memorable places are:
    - the log cabins in the mountains,
    - the huge converted barn,
    - the basic little hotel in Taiwan with the lovely lady who ran the place,
    - the Japanese hostel where we slept, ate, etc. on the floor,
    - the fascinating B&Bs and pub hotels throughout the UK,
    - the converted army base in Utricht,
    - the gorgeous little in on the Rhine with a balcony and air conditioning! (it was very hot there)
    - the wonderful hostel in Switzerland with very few other guests
    - the fabulous cabin on the west coast of France

I could go on ... but chain hotels don't stand out to me. If someone told me they wanted to stay some place memorable, I'd be looking for something quirky! Maybe a yurt!

John is out for lunch today, with his cricket friend. They are meeting at a halfway point, at a pub. I have a few hours to watch stuff I recorded, but is not John's thing. :p
I think I might have porridge for lunch. I adore it, but rarely have it. I like it with salt and cold butter.

This morning I finished off the GF Christmas Pudding. I had it all wrapped up, in the saucepan for steaming, when I realised I had forgotten to put the GF suet in it. So I had to get it out, unwrap it, and stir the suet in. Caught it just in time! Loads of washing up! I was knackered by the time I finished.

Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

    Good morning beautiful ladies!

    Lisa what a pretty jacket!

Rosemarie thank you. A new puppy! How exciting!

Terri I love the colors in the phoenix. You really made it shine!

I think I missed some, hugs to all of you, my friends. I'm just feeling off today.

I have a couple beautiful scarves from my fiber art days. But I don't wear them. I just bought a purple Paisley scarf to go with my fall jacket, which is a lavender hoodie with Sherpa lining. But I never go anywhere where anyone cares what I look like. Most of my trips are dropping Dad at the senior center and picking him up, or Starbucks runs. But at least now that I dropped twelve pounds being sick, my size large clothes aren't so tight.

I'm still avoiding fiber to rest my gut. It's an odd way of eating and I haven't found good substitutions for my normal diet. Plus the Halloween candy! I'm not exercising yet. I feel like a lump, which is when I start to think about exercise. Maybe some yoga.

I read the perfect little fluffy cute no-conflict romance, so now I'm ready for a brutal gruesome murder mystery. I enjoy them more when I alternate.

My group of old military friends is talking about getting together again next year. I probably won't go because of my dad. But who knows what will happen. I just hesitate to put down a deposit.

Dad is obsessed with cleaning up the leaves. But he also has a new puzzle.

Have a great day! May you be happy, healthy, safe, and free!

    Hello, all...

Had to drag myself through the day yesterday, when I desperately wanted to take a nap, but because I held out, was able to sleep through the night last night, and that left me feeling a bit better.

Rosemarie - It's good to see you! Hope you have a wonderful trip with your friend. You are much more patient and accommodating than I ever was or ever will be. I can't give that kind of control to other people - it's just no longer in my nature.

Rori - The snow just looks cold and wet to me! Don't miss that part of the eight years I spent in Montana. We usually get one snow in January here, and that's more than enough. We're in the 70s all the next two weeks and sunny. If your friend wants to get some golf in while you're together, y'all may need to fly south! πŸ₯°

Tracey - Not offensive, and in the end, not political - just an overall outlook from his generation that is so outdated as to be nearly funny. I did love the Facebook reel. Food used to be a drug for me. I would walk in a restaurant down, depressed, quiet, and a few bites of good food, I'd be talkative, happy, and smiling. I've had servers comment on my change after a meal, it was that dramatic. It became much less stark after I had my hysterectomy, oddly enough. It was like food was tied directly to my uterus. Very odd! πŸ˜›πŸ‘€πŸ«€

Penny in TX - Had my gall bladder out nearly 20 years ago now, and it didn't seem to affect my weight loss or gain one way the other. Not sure why it would. Sorry about the Achilles tendon, I ruptured one last century and it was painful as all get out. You can definitely work around it, though - do you have it in a stabilizing boot?

Machka - It has definitely been a crazy busy year for you.

Terri - Love the sketches - are they with alcohol marker?

Heather - Just putting suet out for my birds later, but I doubt it's the same kind! πŸ˜‚πŸ₯°

Annie - I started putting earrings in and brushing my hair even when I'm staying home - I do it for me. The better I look, the better I feel. Put on the scarf, put on the nice sweater! Even if you're not going anywhere. 😍 I don't wear makeup, and that's genuinely all I do to "gussy myself up," but it really does make a difference in how I feel. Glad for you for the weight loss, but not a good way to lose it!

Finishing up a few chores, and back to my bag-building. Was pulling one apart for the umpty-umpth time yesterday, and got disgusted and just began again from scratch. πŸ˜ΆπŸ«€πŸ˜› Sometimes, I'm just going the wrong direction. Did dream of a way to fix future ones where I'm embedding paintings, but not sure I can fix the ones I'm working with right now. Frustrating, but creation isn't always pretty and definitely isn't always a straight line.

Thanks for the compliments on the jacket, everyone. I'm wearing it this morning, and it's definitely lifting my spirits. Will have to take it off if I do any painting! The last hoodie I bought, I got yellow paint on the very first time I wore it. It's now in the "donate" box. I wore it for seven years, that's enough - and if something comes in now, I try to make sure something goes out.

Pizza for dinner - need to get my no-knead focaccia dough going so it can rise and then pre-bake before dinner. Super easy to make, and makes enough for two dinners, as I freeze half the crusts after they're par-baked. I think I'll add some Italian herbs to this batch.

Well I've lost half this post twice, and I'm going to get it posted before I lose it again. The first time, it was Egg, the second time, it was me. Don't remember who asked if she would move from one place to another with my changes, and the answer is - she's not sleeping on the new wireless keyboard, but she does walk on it. She's very aware of how to get my attention, and has no scruples whatsoever about doing so. πŸ˜ΉπŸ‘€πŸ₯°

Rosemarie ~ It really sounds like the trip you and your friend have discussed sounds like something you will not enjoy. I too am ready to go home after 3 days so can see where you are coming from.

Lisa ~ You look tiny, tiny in your new purple jacket. It looks great on you.

Terri ~ Your sketches are very good...especially the phoenix. You are one busy lady with all your interests and know that keeps you young.

Heather ~ Your Christmas pudding sounds like our old fashioned fruit cake. Haven't made one in a few years.

    Good morning gang!

Lisa - cute jacket, great color for you. :p What a find! I picked up a nice jacket at Walmart on the sale rack several years ago - it was marked as a medium but was actually a large, maybe that's why it never sold. They were practically giving it away. It's one of my favorites too.

Penny - gall bladder removal ten years ago, and initially beef was hard for me to digest. But these days, beef and all types of meat comprise a large part of what I eat since I'm increasing protein decreasing carbs a bit on my diabetes prevention diet. It all digests great and really helps keep me full longer.

Michele - great job on your labs. The other day I was looking through my labs, my fasting glucose has been between 100 and 110 for decades, even when my A1C was 5.2. I'm guessing it was the "dawn phenomenon" where the liver starts kicking out glucose in anticipation of needing energy to start the day.

You have me thinking about getting a Christmas tree now. I recall Debbie picked up one or two last year at a great price. This is probably the time to start looking.

My current laptop here is acting funny again, I'm guessing it might be nearing the end. 4 years old now. So looking for another backup to have onhand.

Have any of you used a Chromebook which uses the Chrome OS? Walmart has them for a good price. I mainly want something to run my Excel budget spreadsheets, access some Word documents and of course a few websites, some social media and YouTube. I don't do anything too fancy. Input appreciated.

    Hi, Lanette.

I use a chromebook at work to teach class. I think it works great. It's not the same as an actual computer, but for the functions you are talking about, I think it should be fine. Because I use it for class, I primarily use it to project my slides (Art History!) and access my campus email and learning management system. Sometimes showing youtube videos. All class related activities.

We are 35 this morning. I was a little shocked. I didn't expect that much cold after being in the low 60s yesterday evening.

Lanette - I picked up a used Chromebook through Walmart's 3rd-party vendor for $52, just to use for YouTube in my craft room - but I also use it for YT music, with my bluetooth speaker, and if I don't feel like getting on my main laptop, I use it to read and write here on MFP. No idea if it will work with Excel, but supposedly you can access can: https://highland.edu/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/How-to-install-and-run-Microsoft-Office-on-a-Chromebook.pdf The built-in virus checker is also very robust, little need for paid virus programs. My old wireless mouse worked on it just fine, as well. I'd buy it again.

@Lanette before buying the Chromebook, are you installing Office or using the online version? Consider how you are going to save your documents, etc. I used a Chromebook when I was sub-teaching and it was great but didn’t have much space to save anything. You really couldn’t install anything or save anything on it. You had to use the Google cloud. The ones the school had did not have any USB slots or slots of any kind to attach external drives too. Please consider space you need on the Chromebook itself and how/where you will store pictures, documents, etc. This laptop is great for cruising the internet and using the cloud. Just my experience. There could be others with drive space out there. Never really looked at any other than the ones the school used.
