Type 2 Diabetes and weightloss

Is there anyone here with Type 2 Diabetes, managing this and also losing weight?

Recently diagnosed, I have lost 20 kg in 15 weeks (without exercise as I've also recently had a heart attack and had 2 stents implanted, also without the use of Ozempic or similar).

I noticed quite quickly that there weren't many recipes or cookbooks available, and to find a recipe that was flavourful as well as having the right carbs, low fat and low sodium was near impossible! So, I set out to develop my own, and have!!

I'd be interested in hearing how you're going, if you're staying on track and how you're dealing with it all.

Not me, but my mother had a heart attack and when she was hospitalized in critical care her doctor told her she had developed Type II Diabetes.

She had a lot of weight to lose, and she was a smoker until that heart attack. She started going to the pool and doing pool aerobics and not only did she lose weight but she gained some friends. She got a little obsessive about fats in food (fair enough!) but she did lose the weight and kept it off for the rest of her life. I was really happy for her.

    Hi there
    I’m a new type 2 diabetic as well. I’m 66. It happened in 2021, a year before I retired.

I’m working in My Fitness Pal to try and maintain. A healthy blood sugar.
