Is sub 1000 calories a good deficit to be in to lose body fat

I’m 5,11 and weigh 193 pounds. I’d like to get to 180 quickly as I’ve been struggling with my body fat percentage for awhile now

    Do you mean to set your weightloss goal to 2lbs per week and hence have a 1000 calories deficit, or to eat less than 1000 calories? For a male, it should never be less than 1500 calories daily. And even with your normal weight fast weightloss would lead to losing a lot of muscle. You don't have a lot to lose. Set your weekly weightloss goal to 0.5-1lbs per week, and eat that amount. Log your exercise and eat back a part of that. Re-evaluate after 4-6 weeks.

    You are not overweight enough to run that big of a deficit. If you were obese, it would be one thing but you’re not. You may want to stick with a 1 pound per week loss. Any more than that and you’ll run into all kinds of issues it’s not that it can’t be done. It’s just not the best way to do it, muscle loss will be one of the main issues, regardless you need to be lifting weights when you’re in a deficit otherwise you’ll just end up looking like a smaller version of your current self when the actual goal is to lose fat and not muscle and a good lifting program will prevent losing muscle and that combined with enough protein will be the best way to approach your goal
