I don't want a goal but I want to track calories- just to get perspective. How do I remove the goal?

Apologies, but it's not possible to remove the calorie goal at this time.0

About the best you can do is to set it to something meaningless - maybe something so high you'll never reach it? - then ignore it. Don't use the "close diary" button. It doesn't do anything other than give you weight predictions, which you wouldn't want anyway if you don't have a real calorie goal.
As an old IT gal, I'm a big believer in using apps in whatever way works for us, as long as the software doesn't literally stop us from doing that. Be a rebel. Ignore the calorie goal, get the tracking insights you want.
Best wishes!1 -
You could set your calorie goal to neither lose or gain weight. And then just never look at the totals.1

I'm curious what you plan to do with the insight you gain from tracking with no goal.
If you're just looking for perspective, what about this approach:- Pick a weight. Any weight. Ideally it will be a weight you think you'd like to be or the weight you already are.
- Go into the set-up and figure out what the calories needed for someone at that weight to neither gain nor lose. Use the right activity settings or just play around with them.
- An alternative might be to visit www.sailrabbit.com/bmr to look at what some calorie budgets might be with various settings.
- Pick one of those numbers and put that in as your goal.
- Track your food.
- Ignore whether you're over, under, or on track.
This will give you perspective. Just ignore the part about how you're doing with respect to the "goal."
This is actually a very good approach for someone just starting out. Don't try to make changes to your way of eating, just track what you ARE eating for perspective. You can then see where your calorie budget gets spent.
Rest assured - even if you came up with the ideal calorie goal, you'd have to change it from time to time for a few reasons. Just pick a goal. It will still give you perspective. I mean, how would you know what any of the tracking data mean without something to compare it to?
It's kind of like writing checks. Anyone remember those? Let's say you just decided to write down the checks you write in your check register, just for perspective, and never bothered to calculate your balance or any deposits like paychecks. You could just track how much you spent using checks. You would have no idea if your next check would bounce or if you had $57,244 in the bank that you might want to put into some investment other than a checking account.
I think you'll get a better perspective if you have a goal. You'll change that goal. You will. So pick a good one but don't get caught up with it. It's just a goal after all.0 -
I think you can set your goal to any number you want. Just go to Goals > Edit
If this is about that "feature" which kind of reprimands you at the closing of the day's FOOD diary, just don't close it. It affects absolutely nothing.0
