@Surfergirl1982 Yes I totally see a difference in my skin and even my hair when I am drinking. My skin is nice and soft and not red now at day 14 AF. And my hair is softer and shinier. This is because alcohol is a major dehydrating substance. Not only will it suck the moisture out of your skin and hair, it sucks it out of your brain. From AI:

    Alcohol is a diuretic
Alcohol causes your body to remove fluids from your blood more quickly than other liquids. This can lead to dehydration if you don't drink enough water with alcohol.
Dehydration causes the brain to shrink
When your body is dehydrated, your brain shrinks in volume. This can cause headaches, dry mouth, and moodiness.
    Alcohol damages brain cells
Alcohol can damage brain cells, especially if your body doesn't have enough water.

    So....yikes

That's a definite "Yikes"! I'm going to try not to drink tomorrow. I know it will be tough. But, I'll do my best.

@Womona You said that right..."Ewww!" I'm looking a bit haggard myself lately. I know when I quit drinking, it won't take long for my skin and hair to start looking nice again. Every cell in our bodies are replaced every so many days (I don't remember the exact amount of days. But it's not long). I plan on getting a haircut. Not this week, but next. I have a routine doctor appointment on Monday the 27th. Fortunately, no labs are required.

I'm going to try to be AF tomorrow. Unless, I have major withdrawal symptoms. For me, at the worst times, my withdrawal symptoms would be anxiety and restless, shakiness, and itching. I would sit down on the couch for 30 to 60 seconds and get back up and pace back and forth a few times, sit down for 30 to 60 secs and get back up and pace and repeat. And, the shakes would be so bad. I'd ask my hubby to go at 9 am to get me some whiskey. And, I couldn't pour it into the shot glass (too shaky), so I would just pour some into the glass. At times, it was so bad, that I had to hold my glass with both hands. And, then the itching. It's miserable. But I don't think it will be that bad tomorrow. I have a feeling that I'll be OK.

BTW...did you know that coffee is actually good for your liver?

@globalhiker That's great that you're able to go to the bar without ordering an alcoholic drink. For now, I'm trying to stay out of bars. But once I have some AF days under my belt, I'll probably be able to do that too.

Fortunately, especially with the younger generation, drinking is becoming less popular. That's a good thing!

Thanks @Michieb125 I really appreciate the positive thoughts and prayer. I just finished the drink that I still had before I dumped the rest of the whiskey out. For a minute, I thought, "you should have waited to dump it out". But, no...I really don't need anymore and this is what has to be done.

For electrolytes, I have no sugar added Zico coconut water. If you read the ingredient label, it really does have all the electrolytes that you need. I'm not crazy about it. It's not something I'd reach for if I wanted something to drink. But, it doesn't taste bad or anything. It's kind of an acquired taste.

Anyways, thank you again! I think I will be fine in the morning. I will be checking in tomorrow. I think I'll go to bed soon. Have a good night!

Zico coconut water is good indeed. Have as much as you can! I can tell you are resilient and have a can do attitude. There are some good calming meditation's on YouTube if you like that kind of thing. Big hug!
