@pridesabtch- you have alot of irons in the fire girl. Give yourself some grace. Good luck on the job search. I have been thinking its time to change companies but I have been here over 5 years years and the thought of interviewing makes me a little nauseous at my age. Ageism is a thing.. and if I switch jobs I don't want to keep doing the same thing.. Honestly would love to do something in the either the fitness/nutrition or outdoor recreation industry but I have no background in that..and I can't take a pay cut at this point in my career so I feel stuck. what's a mid life mid career woman who wants to stay on track for retirement supposed to do??? :)

@HappyDonkey75 I think we are about the same age, and it makes me extremely nervous to put myself out there. Of the 2 jobs I applied for one will be a pay raise and similar to my current operations manager position (I have a screening interview tomorrow - boy that was fast) and the other is a step back to quality manager which will likely be a pay cut, but I'm not positive about that.

Didn't get the laundry put away or the grocery shopping done, but that's ok. I actually weighed in today and was pleasantly surprised that I lost about a pound since last week. Still not down to my low, but it's closer. Didn't sleep well last night, finally fell asleep around 4:00am. Doggo woke me at 5:45am. I let him out and fed him then laid back down for 15 minutes. I started getting ready and luckily had started my flat iron. Then the power went out. There was just enough heat in the flat iron to straighten my wonky bangs. I look kind of like hell, but I really don't care much. Rainy day out.
I applied for 2 jobs on Monday and got a call for an interview yesterday. Makes a girl feel good to get such quick response, especially for a stretch goal job. Tonight is trivia night, but truth be told I'd kind of like to stay home.

Happy Hump Day! It's cloudy and a little chilly at 65 degrees (no sun and the breeze makes it feel a bit colder to me) and there is a chance of showers. I want to get out and take a short walk around the neighborhood soon in case it does. It actually kind of smells like rain, if you know what I mean.
Oncology appointment and treatment today. It'll be a little longer today because I see the dr today and they also need to flush my port. Every other week I get to go in and have the injection, wait 15 minutes and leave. Those are quick appointments. On the opposite weeks, I see a provider and they flush my port. I have had a bit of anxiety because I know today we will discuss scheduling my 6-month scans. I'll have to get them done before my next appointment in 3 weeks. I get nervous about those…scanxiety…big time. But I think they will be okay again and I can't control it, so I'm trying to just continue moving forward, making healthy decisions wherever I can.
I also have to get my cholesterol labs redrawn soon…I might just do it tomorrow or Friday morning and get it over with. Hopefully, my cholesterol numbers are looking better or they will start me on a statin drug. I don't really want to go on more meds, and for some reason statin drugs scare me. Anyone on here take cholesterol meds? Any adverse side effects? I'd love your feedback.

At the end of a busy weekend that included a rather involved plumbing emergency on Saturday and taking my mom out on Sunday, my husband and I managed to get a lot done in the yard on Monday. We got the first batch of summer bulbs in and finished up the vegetables and herbs, then headed off to a low-key BBQ at my daughter's. I still need to do the hanging pots and deck boxes, but the garden is temporarily on hold. Tuesday was my husband's outpatient surgical procedure. He's convalescing this week, and I've got a bunch of medical appointments lined up.

@PackerFanInGB - I understand your concerns. High cholesterol runs in my family, and I've been taking statins for about 4 years. For the past couple of months, I've been having some trouble with muscle pain and have had an increase in one of my liver markers, so I'm taking a break and having bloodwork done to see if the statins are the problem. My mom and two brothers have been taking statins for at least a decade with no problems, but they all take a lower dose than I do. Unfortunately, my dad and paternal grandmother developed artherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), so I really do need to address the cholesterol issue. I've got the bloodwork and follow-up with the cardiologist next week, so we'll see what's next.

- Supper? leftover salmon & asparagus / limit snacks & sweets ~ did ok all day, but had trouble sleeping so went downstairs for glass of milk, crackers then chocolate! ACK! / 80 oz. water ~ 64 / log all food ~ not the nighttime stuff / net calories zero 😈 since I was borderline at bedtime I'm sure net cals were negative later on
- Walked dog 3.75 mi, we went by the bachelor brothers so she could drink from water dish & she got treat/pets from RJ 😁 happy dog & happy me / OT exercises 😁 doing at least 2-4x per day & seems to help, but edema still there

JF Tomorrow 5/29 R ~ Hubby and I are heading to middle brother's for early evening cookout. Family thing since Aussie uncle is headed back to Oz by the end of next week. Will be sedentary day with 3 hrs car & cookout.
- Cookout for supper… don't go overboard, small portions, limit dessert / 80 oz. water / log all food if possible / net calories zero
- OT exercises (while sitting at cookout if nec.) / walk dog
- Make couscous salad… worst part is chopping tomatoes, cukes, green onions. Best served same day with no refrigeration.

Good Luck @pridesabtch on your interview.I am glad you are getting some quick responses. Are these local companies you are applying with or online ? I have noticed my Linked In has had more hits on my profile recently so the job market must be improving because it was silent for a long time. Recruiters are starting to bug me again.. hehe
yesterday was a beautiful sunny day here and I took my lunch on the back deck to lay in the sun and nearly fell asleep .I was almost late for a meeting on top of it. Better set an alarm if I do that again.
The cats and one of the dogs have been trying to get a mole that has been wreaking havoc in our yard for the last week with holes. I decided to see if I could help things along by placing peanut butter on sticks just outside some of the holes. I had no idea if it would work but two hours later, I came out to find all three hovering around their "catch" . They were all quite proud of themselves. I am hoping that is the last of these things . We had been able to catch one in the trap a couple weeks ago and one of the cats got one last week on its own, and now this one. He was not small either ..

Yesterday was not great, but I did get another interview as well. So both jobs I applied to called/messaged me within 2 days. These are phone interviews, but they said to block out 45 - 60min. The Ops Manager will pay better, but is 50minutes away. The Quality Manager I'm not sure if they will meet my salary request, but it's closer and a more stable company. Either way, both interviews are this afternoon so wish me luck!
Other than that, exciting things like laundry and going to mom's.

Happy Thursday! Popping on quick before we run to meet my mother and cousin (here from Seattle) for lunch. Mom wants to go to Golden Corral because she lost all her teeth from radiation to her neck and heck for throat cancer and it is very hard to find things she can eat at most restaurants. GC has a lot of options from which to choose, so she can usually find something she can eat. Buffets make it really hard to track what you eat, so i might not be entering my food on MFP today. I'll try to level up and choose healthier items though. I tend to like the cheesy, greasy stuff, so it'll take some restraint… 🤐
@beachwalker99 Thanks for your reply regarding statins. I have to be careful about my liver function because if my liver gets damaged, I can no longer have the medications I get to keep the cancer in remission. it feels like a catch-22! Hopefully my levels have improved and they will let me continue to work on it with diet and exercise! It is encouraging to hear your mom and two brothers have not had any issues after a decade. I hope your husband is recuperating nicely and that your medical appointments go well this week!

@pridesabtch Good luck with your interviews! I must've missed something. I didn't know you were looking to leave your current position. That's a conundrum with the two you have currently….more money but 50 minute drive….closer to home but less money. I took a pay cut once many years ago because the drive was 45 minutes and i got tired of it, but that was when my kids were young and I will losing close to 2 hours a day that i could have been home with them in the morning and after school. I don't know if the ride would be as big of a deal now that I'm older.

@PackerFanInGB I wasn't really looking for a new job, but I do worry that Tim and I work at the same place. With some of the environmental litigation going on and the corporate money crunch it makes me nervous. If something were to happen we'd both be out of a job.
The job market around here is not great in general so when an opportunity arises you kind of have to take a look. My current job is 5 minutes from my house… Hard to beat that.

I gave up on my JFT list for today. It wasn't a good day at work and I brought work home with me. It's getting late and I am tired and just don't want to do anything else. I know what I need to do this tonight after the day I had, but I am not going to get anything else done that I wanted to/needed to get done. I was so busy/stressed at work that I didn't even get food logged and went at lunch and got junk food for my stress. I really need to find another way to handle the stress at work other then chocolate.

@HappyDonkey75 - Good luck dealing with the moles in your yard. We've had problems with them over the years but haven't been able to do much about them. Mostly, I try to discourage them by walking over the tunnels to collapse them.
