    Hi,

I got my Zwift ride with the Jet Black trainer! I love it!! So much better than my 20 year old fluid trainer! I love Zwift there are so many workouts and courses!

My name is Jon, I am 57, 6'2", 197.5 lbs with a goal of 175-180 lbs this year. I started at 4/11/2025 at ~217.

    Just saw this challenge:

    • Apr: 106.69 miles
    • May: 281.99 miles
    • June: 146.49 miles
    • July: 159.75 miles

Total = 695 miles I need to get to spinning to hit 2025 this year!

    20250714_122133.jpg

This is the setup I also have a Jet Black fan to keep me cool right out of the picture!

1080 miles/ 2025 miles. Phew…14 miles from RPM class and 6 mi on my own. I'm checking into the Zwift and Rouvy options. Ready to graduate to a real spin bike for home use. I'd like more cycling miles but running has been going well at 3x weekly, average 4-5 mi, all hills.

1080/2025 miles. No new cycling miles, my class was canceled. Ran more instead, 14 miles this week but I can't count that. RPM class is on for tomorrow.

1100/2025 miles done. 20 miles RPM class from Monday. Only 925 miles to go.

Happy Humpday!!!! Having a good month, so if I can keep this up I can catch up so I can hit the goal, so being a nerd I had to create a spreadsheet!

    @Mari33a Have a great time!!!!

@globalhiker Inside miles are harder in general that outside miles, no coasting, trainers don't have as much momentum as a outside bike, no trainer fly wheel has as much energy as a 80 kg person doing 20 miles an hour! So you are rocking it! I find that my trainer miles are about 1.5 times more work that my outside miles, but I love outside so much more!

1015/2025 miles. Added 15 mi from Wed RPM class. Aiming to get in one more cycling day this weekend.

@Jon4189 you're right, I didn't think about that. Outside is always a better and more fun experience.

In the spring it was so cold I waited to start outdoor and now too hot. I got to get going. I put a bigger cassette on my gravel bike and converted all to wax drive chain. It's so clean. To motivate myself I am going to do the August American Cancer Society 300 mi challenge.

Ride 7/27, Zwift - Volcano Flat Loops (Zone 2) 27.56 mi.

In July, I rode 232 mi.
In June, I rode 234 mi.
2025 YTD Total Cycling Distance 2,790.95 mi.

1080/2025 miles done. @Mari33a did you have a fun trip? Anything you'd recommend? My trips are pushed out to next year since my husband needs surgery. I'm bummed but I guess that means more time to train and get fitter.

The castle at Carcassonne was beautiful and well worth a visit. There was a whole medival town within the castle walls. It was like the Kevin Costner Robin Hood film. Avignon is a bit like that with a town within city walls. We also loved Marseille, and then Mont Ventoux, this was our 3rd time, its spectacular and the road up to it. All the Alps climbs are amazing, we there there twice exploring different parts. I felt my eyes couldn't take in enough. We visited the Pyrenees this time and thy were beautiful and very green but very closed in with trees so you could only see the road in front of you a lot of the time whereas the Alps are very open and you can see peaks for miles. Once you get into the Alps the Col's are fairly close together so when you came over one you could mostly got on to the next. The Col de Galibier really stood out and of course Alpe d'Huez, visited both twice.

1103/2025 miles. Added 23 miles, mostly zone 3. I recognize Alpe d'Huez from watching crazy Megavalanche races on youtube. Pretty soon we'll all be Megavalanche ready.

Mari33a, did you cycle Mont Ventoux? I had to look that up and it's insane.

  • Jon4189
    Jon4189 Posts: 219 Member

@globalhiker Look up a bike event is Colorado called the Triple by-Pass. It is 109 miles over three mountain passes. It is one of the most insane bike events I have done, I did the Mt Evans Climb too where you go from 8500ft to 14,200 ft…

@Jon4189 that triple bypass race is impressive. I saw the race course, wow. Aren't the uphill sections several hours long and straight uphill?? How did you train and manage the altitude?

1135/2025 miles done. 8 mi yesterday + 24 miles today (10 at home and 14 at cycle class).

Yes, it is uphill 3% grade average maybe 4% grade but there are spots that are six. And you go for about 10 mi but then you get a rest for 20-30 minutes when you go down 10 to 15 miles so it's just keep your pace. I live in Colorado so I'm used to the altitude The altitude Will's suck the life out of you so you have to keep drinking water and you just find a steady pace and keep on spinning.

Well, I've been gone for 5 months. We moved cities in a matter of less than two months, and then I couldn't get motivated to get back on the Peloton. But, today was the day!

Rides since I last checked in back in Mar:

    Jul 13: Outdoor cycling - 23.36 miles
Aug 10: 30 min Reflection Ride (Peloton) - 6.45 miles

    YTD: 120.95 miles

At this point, I'm just trying to get back on the Peloton on a semi regular basis. That would be success to me to end 2025.

Good morning and happy humpday! It has been a good week! I have over half way to 2025 miles for the year. If I can get 300 miles in August I will be quite happy. I might do a 100km ride in September, it is a charity ride to support diabetes research!
