Hope your Monday is wonderful, productive, and safe!

Tracey - You always have such great get-togethers! I love that his old friend could come.
Some glaziers are coming in an hour or so to remove the remaining cracked glass. I hope they can do that without damaging the top layer. It was really hard to find someone who could do it. They are charging quite a bit, but Velux are reimbursing us. I suppose it counts as emergency callout.
BP still a bit elevated at the docs. I have to take it at home for a week. The in-house pharmacist is ringing me next Tuesday.
Window cleaner coming today. I will have to tell him not to do that window!

Morning, my dearlings,
The roads are clear here, and the snow is fading, looking tattered at the edges on the grassy areas that are undisturbed. No more expected in the foreseeable future, and everything is getting back to normal.
We're back to normal at my house as well, with Corey off to work again this morning. I've got a load of laundry going in the washer, and another in the dryer, so my soundscape is domestically blissful. The phone will ring soon for my "good morning" call from Corey, since I slept in this morning. This quick visit with y'all, and I will resume my usual Monday morning chores, get meds set up for the week and so on.
We did not get a bathroom vanity this weekend. Corey relaxed instead after we went grocery shopping Sunday morning, and that made us both happy. We splurged on a nice chuck roast at Aldi, so dinner was that and roasted veg (I did eat a bit of carrot, I swear) and potatoes. I've been uninterested in eating meat at all during the days, so it was kind of a nice change for me.
So, perhaps next weekend on the vanity. We'll see. Not worried - the toilet works, so it's functioning, and the rest can wait. If I can't handle looking at it, I just don't go back there.
My maintenance weight is 155 to 159, and I was at 156.8 this morning, so I'm happy on that note. And yesterday was six days in a row of exercise for me! As Annie would say, yay! (We miss you, girlie.) I'm sticking at between 10 and 15 minutes a day, swapping out elliptical one day and yoga the next. So far, no vertigo and no major pain. Just trying to get moving every day, and I can feel the difference already. Less pain, less stiffness in the mornings.
That's it for me, my punkins. Hope it's a good day and a good week for everyone. Welcome to those who are new - we're SO glad you're here, and just keep posting and signing your posts with name and place so we can get to know you.
Love y'all,

Good morning!
It is starting to snow again in my neck of the woods. Not content with calling for "Lake Effect Snow Warning," they're now calling for an "Extreme Lake Effect Snow Warning." All depends on where the winds set up, but I'll be seeing some snow.
Son took my SUV to work this morning. He's putting in overtime this week and his commutes will be early in the morning and later at night. His vehicle is a Subaru Legacy, which is a wonderful car, but too low to the ground during active heavy snow storms. I feel better that he has mine. We'll use my husband's 4-wheel drive truck if we need to be out and about.
Which apparently I do need to go out today to take buttermilk to my mother at her facility. I got a call yesterday evening from the facility ... which your heart always drops when you see the incoming number ... but it wasn't an emergency ... it was about buttermilk. Seems my mother got testy with the dietary folks because they didn't have any buttermilk for her to have with her dinner. Not their fault. I provide the buttermilk because she won't drink low-fat buttermilk (really, what's the point of low-fat buttermilk??) and it's only available from one local source. She doesn't remember that. The staff called because everyone was upset about who was responsible for getting the buttermilk, how often was she to have the buttermilk, etc. Sigh. Who would've thought so much angst over buttermilk! But there you have it.
My husband bought me a "smart" birdfeeder for Christmas. It takes photos and videos of the birds that come to the feeder (uses my wifi) and for an extra fee you can have a bird identifier app. We'll be rethinking the identification app. Right now I primarily have juncos, some wrens, chickadees, cardinals, bluebirds and the occasional titmouse. The birdfeeder, however, has alerted me to sulfur-crested cockatoos, cobalt blue parakeets and a red and green macaw! I live near Buffalo NY where it's windy and cold. So no, unless someone's pet bird has escaped, these species are not likely.Still, we take a look at the video and there sits a junco. Pretty sure it's a lighting issue in the morning causing the misidentifications. They're good for a laugh.
So. I've been tracking my calories/food choices during my IF eating periods. Not very pretty. First, if I try to eat in the morning, it appears to be license for overeating the rest of the day. So I have to stick with a minimum of 19:5 and 20:4 is better at keeping me in line. Second, I can pack in a lot of food in a short period of time. Third, even when I'm watching the amount I'm eating, the nutritional ratios are off. Way too many carbs/sugars and not enough protein. I know what I need to do. Now to do it!
Have a great week!

Fire in the woodstove but the dogs are playing next to me and ignoring it.
Decided yesterday to gather the papers I needed to take to the attorney on Thursday and couldn't find the death certificates although I remembered putting them in a folder of some sort. After a giant panic that included looking everywhere three times, I realized that there was enough time to get new ones ($25.00 each) from the funeral home and then I looked in one more place and found them. The place sort of made sense and I was relieved that I hadn't lost them. What I really want to do is just walk, ride my exercise bike, knit, watch TV, and have no responsibilities.

Lisa- I laughed at your carrot comment. 🤣 Too funny. Protein is important, so I’m glad you enjoyed your roast. Congrats on your maintenance weight. That in itself is such a victory. I can’t say enough about consistency in exercise. Any deposit contributes to the account. Listening to your body and staying consistent will pay off for you.
I’m still trying to get moving today. I have C-PTSD, so unfortunately I only logged 3.5 hours sleep last night. I’ve been up since 2am. Tried a nap, but it failed me. So meditation and breath work will lead me through my day today. Still going to get my workout in. It’s deadlift day! My favorite! I’m looking forward to some mobility training today.
In other news, decided to go on a sourdough bread making adventure. If y’all have any tips, I’m all ears.
Stay warm my friends. It’s mighty chilly out.

Beth ~ Stay safe in the extreme snow weather! I have never drank buttermilk but I think my dad did with cornbread!
This AM we talked about when various taxes and insurance payments are due. This has been my DH's job always so I need to be in the know! On the other side, DH needs to learn how & when to pay all the utilities and other household expenses that are due monthly and quarterly.
Wishing everyone a safe and peaceful Monday!

Good Monday morning to each of you--not sure if I am in the right place or not. Not sure if I am doing anything on tis site correctly. I am a newbie to the site but not to trying to lose weight. Where do I start--how do I start---one day, one second, one minute, one step, one less fork to mouth, one less plate and finding support for when I am down and maybe as an added bonus along the way of losing the weight road I might be able to find a friend or two...4

Kylia-I agree with others that your doc sounds a bit off. I hate when they only try to treat numbers and not people. Regarding vaccines:I frequently did not take flu vaccines (had a bad itching spell after one and am not allergic to eggs, so who knows). My doc would always go over recommended vaccines and take note of my preference. The only ones he really pushed was pneumonia (I think especially because I have had pneumonia several times) and shingles. I thought since I had had shingles once I didn't need it because I wouldn't get them again. I was miserable enough for with the first bout of shingles, I would do darn near anything to avoid them. I decided on RSV and the Covid vaccines on my own. I think it is your right to decide what you want. My employer had been considering making Covid vaccinations mandatory for our employees and I spoke out against a mandat even though I personally chose to get them.
Pip-your current set up is about the only way I would have a trailer. I take it you are removed from the current fire dangers?
Tina-I hope you and yours remain safe. There is so much "stuff" out there about the fires. There will be plenty to review afterwards and lessons to learn. Right now everything that can be done to save lives needs to be done and debates won't help.
Heather-sympathies to your son and to you over the loss. So young to pass.
Carol-I would pick up another humidifier-they are small and don't take up so much space, If you don't want to go out there are a bunch of of them on Amazon. Have you tried heating pad or electric blanket for you husband.
Meal prep-I do crock pot meals on weekends or a meatloaf or soup on weekend and then have dinner for the week. Fish is a quick cook for dinner. I have a humus baked chicken dish that is good. There are several good one pan dinners that are a quick cook. I get alot of recipes from https://www.skinnytaste.com and https://www.delish.com. They each have a wide range of items.
Had a productive day today. Didn't get everything accomplished, but pleased with what I did. Going to do a bit of ironing done (doubt I will do all of it) and need to pack food for lunch.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio (which is about to get frigid)

Good morning ladies!
Sipping on some great Kona coffee. My adaptor thingy so I can use reg coffee grounds in my Keurig works well. Simple. I am having it with Truvia sweetener and sugar free creamer though. I bought a strong brew. So I guess I am "dirty fasting" today. Unfortunately any flavor thing takes you out if a fast essentially, but whatever. I am having problems sticking with my normal fasting times so just winging it. Which is another way of saying taking a break.
I am still doing the gym though, so that is a victory. I checked out some audio books related to fasting so will be listening to those while on the treadmill. Today will be leftover soup. Its that involved deal of sausage, onion, rice, raviolis, and baby potatoes. I will most likely be adding more broth.
I was hoping to hear from either of the overseas sons this past weekend. Last contact was Christmas. I try to connect every couple weeks. I will send them a smiley on Friday and say "check in time". 💖

Blood test and BP today. I always get nervous about the BP. I hope it's OK as I don't want to have to increase the med. I'm on a low dose at the moment, but she was talking about putting it up. At least I've stopped that awful cough with the Ramipril. They will be testing for potassium today. I feel OK, but a bit bloated. A UTI always seems to be waiting in the wings, but it's OK at the moment. I drink lots of fluids.
I will say all this, but it's a nurse, not a doctor, and I have the proper chat by phone on the 21st.

The rv park is very clean. Right by the beach. Real close to town, since we still walk our 5-6 miles we have our different routes that we take. They have a restaurant and a grocery store on site. It’s not far from home(about 2-2-1/2 miles). They store it and haul it for a fee of course, that helps that the trailer doesn’t travel a lot of miles. The rv place that we bought it from is really close by. They have come over to our camping spot to look at something if we needed. A lot of pluses.

The glaziers came and got nearly all the glass out. There are a few immovable bits round the edge, but they were worried about breaking the outer pane. I had a good hoover around afterwards, but there are still tiny chips in unexpected places! They took away a bag of glass for us, from the original clear up. I'm not worried about the bill, because Velux are paying it.
Frittata tonight. I've precooked the cauliflower, and we also add peas, broad beans, and artichoke. Feta. I love the left overs for lunch the next day.
Bea pick up tomorrow.

Welcome qupo6! Please sign your post with what you would like to be called and a general location like New Mexico, where I am from. I would start with the logging feature and log a week of everything you eat, water you drink and any exercises you do during that week. Then look at everything you posted and see where you ate food that was not healthy for you and the next week, eliminate the ‘bad’ foods and replace with fruits. Once you get an idea of how and what you are eating, you can take the MFP recommendations for macros, and calories and try to meet that for the third week. By then you’ll have a handle on what you will and can do.
Here, we all do different approaches to our ways of eating, you will find what works for you. It is not really a diet, it is a way of eating. For me, it is portion control and avoiding sugar, others do intermittent fasting, or low carb, or the GLP1 shots. You will have to find what works for you!
Keep coming back often, we talk a lot!
RVRita in New Mexico4 -
I forgot to mention that when I went to my therapist last week, realized she offers the GLP1 shots for $30 a shot (reasonable I thought) so asked her about it. I cannot get them because I have thyroid problems. The type she gives is contradicted for thyroid problems, so out of luck there.
Heading to doctor today. I’ll update y’all later.
Though for today:
Sore throats are a pain in the neck!! (Appropriate for me! 🤪

Carol - My DH had bad circulation was always cold too. He'd crank up the woodstove so hot I would have to open windows in the kitchen and bathrooms.
Rita - hope the doctor can give you something for your pain in the neck sore throat.
Pip - nice trailer for sure, and also nice they move it for you, so you don't need another vehicle. Sounds like a fabulous location.
Tracey - what a nice gathering for Rodger's birthday.
Regarding the CA fires, I saw an interesting interview with a fellow whose home didn't burn. He said he put some fire retardant on the side of his house and set up some of those inexpensive oscillating sprinklers - put them in the yard and on his roof! He said the fire got up to the wet line in his lawn and stopped right there. Even with the wind, that did the trick. So if a person has water pressure, some hoses and a few of those sprinklers might be enough to save the day. Fire is a threat up here during our hot summers. My wheels are turning.
Make it a super week and stay warm and safe.

Did Jari Love’s Get Ripped Slim & Lean DVD then rode the bike some. It was too cold out for my walk. Then went to Aldi. They were completely out of milk (after all, people had to prepare for the “biggie”. They might be snowed in for days!!!!)
Ginny – I figure these hand warmers will come in handy when I take my walks. Wish they’d come sooner because I probably could have used them today.
Got the “fence” put away, the posts, the rebar, lights off the arches. The only thing left are the arches.
A few months ago Jess gave me some mint that she’d grown. I put it in the freezer, now I’m using it in my tea. Makes the tea quite good
Lisa – you’re so right, it’s the OP who are the problem. But on the bright side, there are very few people on the road at 6:30. I saw a total of 5 cars.
Barbie – can’t wait to find out how the bitter apple works out. I like faucets with separate hot and cold handles
Unfortunately, the sun doesn’t get to the area right behind my garage door. Guess I’m just going to have to be religious about this snow.
Heidi – as I’ve said “I didn’t move to NC to see my breath. I really don’t care what it looks like”. Hasn’t it been cold? I think last night was about the coldest
Carol – I just found out that the schools around here are closed tomorrow
Lanette and Sue – so many times Vince will take my car in for repairs because of the fact, as you said, they see a woman and dollar signs pop up. Supposed to be nice weather next weekend.
Tracey – some people just can’t deal with exceptions. I thought I read somewhere that senior’s get a lot of UTI’s because they don’t completely empty their bladders. Now my sewing is limited to things in straight lines. Like sewing up a ripped seam. That’s IT. A while ago I was going to put an elastic on something and I had to reread how to do it!
My voice is back to normal now. There was a time when I’d be coughing so much that I was almost choking. I’m still coughing some, but not at all like that. Guess it’s just going to take time
Ginny – good for you standing up regarding not being mandated to take a vaccine. I honestly don’t believe anyone should mandate you take a vaccine. That’s wrong. I have a brain. How I miss SparkPeople’s recipes. What I liked was that you could look at the recipe and on the homepage it would list the calorie count.
Pip – what’s the name of your new camper?

Barbie ... I think you're doing an amazing job navigating the days since Jake's passing. Remember to give yourself some grace ... everything will get done when it gets done. Hugs.
Carol ... my mom will drink buttermilk by the glass, but when I was a kid, I used to watch her boil potatoes and save a few chunks out for herself. She'd top the steaming hot potatoes with buttermilk, salt and pepper and enjoy all by herself. I'm not a fan of it by the glass, nor on potatoes, but I do use it in several recipes.
My husband and I decided to venture out and make the buttermilk run. Really a stupid day to be out, but we went through town instead of the thruway and made it to the store and then my mom's facility without incident. Lake Effect Snow is tricky. It can be clear as a bell and then a quarter mile down the road you'll find whiteout conditions. It will be slow going for the evening commuters.
I made a turkey with all the trimmings yesterday. Tonight will be a repeat. Now that we're home, the carcass is on the stove and I'm making stock for turkey/rice soup later in the week. The house smells great!

My dh bought me one of those birdfeeders last Christmas- still sitting in the box, haven't taken it out.
We don't get too many kinds of birds here. Mainly sparrows, a few dove and a few bushtits along with the humming birds. Former hubby set one up and has sent pictures of cardinals and blue birds.
I am like you. If I eat breakfast, I am hungry all day. Eating a bowl of oatmeal seems to be the worst for that. If I wait until after noon to eat, I am fine. Some days when I am busy it can be 2pm before I eat.
It breaks the fast and I am starving all day and can't get enough

MFP Weekly Check-In for January 13, 2025
Rita in Roswell NM - Down 2.5 pounds using this plan in a week. I have not done the activity however, because I’m still battling this cold, but still, for a week? I am proud of the result!
Week of 1/11/25:
1. Use My Plate by measuring and logging food in MFP 1/7
1. Eat fruit not sweets for snacks 1/7
2. Drink and log 64-80 oz. Of water a day 1/7
3. Add 1 Oz nuts daily 1/7
Goal for next 5 weeks: lose 12.4 from 182.8 to 170 pounds. By logging and measuring my food intake and being active for 30 minutes a day logging that as well in MFP. Down 2.5 lbs this week.
Debbie in Napa Valley CA - up .4 lbs again this week. I got between 10,000-16,000 steps 6 of the 7 days, tracked my food and stayed just under calories each day. Will be out walking the wetlands again this week. Two more weeks until Zumba starts back up. We are walking for that hour but not the same(but nice to get to chat with my friends while walking)
Kylia in Ohio - No change in weight. I will take that over gain! I have logged every day, so that is a plus. I have fruits and veggies back in house which should help. Stay warm!
Barbara on the Southern Oregon Coast - WT Sunday down below 130 to 129.9 from last week's 132.7 Yay!. Weekly average eked down to 131.8 from 132.2.
Weekly average steps UP to 6414 from 5846. Line danced thrice, BB&B twice, dog group once.
CI continues to outpace CO. Sugar leveling off but way over goal.
AF, PT & Zumba still a bust.
Occasional exercise snacks of hip hinges or hanging from the shower rod when getting up from the toilet, or block pushups after washing dishes.
Beautiful, blue sky, dry days but burr that breeze is cccold! 51 feels like 41
Sue in WA - Finally getting back into more of a routine. I gained 2 pounds this week and then lost 1. The funny thing is I noticed my pants are fitting slightly better. Hope that means the regular exercise is helping me trade fat tissue for muscle.
Lanette SW WA – weight staying at 160, new set point. Step daily average 6326, down a bit from last week. Still walking with weights 15-20 minutes after most meals. Some Farmer's carry and sitting elliptical.

Unfortunately life tends not to provide us enough time to do the things we like.
There is always a long list of responsibilities.
I am glad you found the documents.

I have gotten behind and read quickly through the last 5 pages. We did not get snow in Middle GA and I was disappointed. They did close all the schools. It was in the 20's and there was freezing rain. Today was gray with some rain and I was down. I am ready for some sun.
I am discouraged about the dog. I love going out into my back yard but he doesn't always do his business. He has been doing some business on my dining room rug. The rug came from Wayfair and wasn't that expensive..but I can't afford to keep replacing rugs. I had my son and DIL pick up the rug and put in the garage. I had Stanley Steamer come first. Maybe it will be okay once the dog is potty trained.
i am discouraged about the GLP-1 shots. I started at about 194 and it has been 3 months and I can't break 187. Some people respond much better than this. I can't eat any less. I get weak. I don't know if it is worth continuing to pay or not. I think I am signed up for a year.
Some good news is the following: I didn't want to pay the premiums of a little life insurance policy any longer. So I called to cancel..and guess what it had a little cash value. So I have a stair chair on my stairs bolted into the carpet. To remove the stair chair I must do something about the carpet. It would be unsafe to have the carpet with holes in it.
So I am having hard wood put in and hardwood in the upstairs hall and a new railing. The runner job seemed pricey so I am using carpet treads from the same carpet. I am told these are safe. I will post a before and after picture. I am rather excited because this is an unexpected project!
Also some good news is my high school girl friend and I have booked 7 nights along the southeast coast for a beach vacation in April I thought this would be pricey but for 4 of the nights we will share a room. We selected some nice places. in Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Savannah and Tybee Island. I am a little nervous. She is a stranger in many ways. But in other ways it is just like high school. She is a widow as well.
My son and I didn't have many issues handling my husband's estate. There are a couple of items we are dragging our feet on but basically it resolved pretty quickly. I worked with social security over the phone. I never went in. I just recently mailed them a form to have taxes withheld. I found this on the IRS website. Hopefully this will happen in a timely way.

After work stopped at Sam’s. I needed cheese sticks and Vince needed milk. I also got some calcium. I’m liking getting that in large containers, and you only have to get one bottle at a time.
Vince mentioned putting up the arches next year for Halloween and putting Halloween lights on them. I think he’s trying to do as much as soon as possible. Not that that’s a bad thing. He talked about putting the controllers for the Christmas lights out at Halloween time.
Buttermilk – I don’t like to drink it, but I do use it in recipes. That’s something that can be frozen, too
The schools are closed yet again tomorrow

We have started making homemade butter for special occasions and it creates a buttermilk like product, that has been fun to use. Trying to get a good feel for what to do with this buttermilk-ish product - you can't really drink it it has tiny blobs of butter floating in it. but we are trying to work out the cost of each form of butter - homemade vs sales at the grocery store. I made scones with it this week and they are quite good, but that is not something that I would regularly make. It is rich so seems to be good to replace milk in a dessert recipe, but a 1/2 gallon of whipping cream makes 2 pounds of butter and about 2 1/2 cups of the "buttermilk" it can be frozen successfully but I am not sure if we would not just end up with a bunch of frozen "buttermilk" Mashed potatoes and desserts and things we are not doing a ton of. I have yet to try the "buttermilk" in my bread recipe but that is next. Prices have gotten so high we are working hard at trying different things to lower the prices.
My basic homemade bread recipe is one that does work out to be a better choice financially, but the butter is still under review.

Heather - I hope you get reimbursed quickly Heather, out of pocket is hard to do these days.
I was raised with family gatherings and I really miss them. Fortunately Kaitlyn enjoys them as much as I do so she takes them on too. This one was mostly her. My only contribution was inviting some people and getting him there. Lauryn’s friend paid for our meal as Rodger’s present. So it didn’t cost a penny.
Allie - Is Delia in a bucket style car seat still? I found them so heavy 8 years ago, I don’t know how I would do it now.
I saw your other post, strollers!!!! “So easy you can fold with one hand” when in reality it doesn’t seem to fold until you’ve lost that last smidge of patience.
Another reason for me to start exercising more and getting strength.
When Kaitlyn has one I’ll want to keep the baby so will need to lift one. She’s not yet, but I’m throwing out positive vibes to the universe and only saying when not if.
Beth - that’s funny what the bird feeder is identifying.
You wouldn’t believe what causes angst in the home. It’s never boring that’s for sure.
Barbie - I hope you find some relief and downtime after visiting with the lawyer on Thursday
Pip - I know a person who camps 10 minutes from their home. They live in town and miss the country. They pretty much live at the camper from May to October.
Rosemarie - that was a nice little windfall.
It was a Monday at work in every sense of the word. I’m not looking for tomorrow to be much better.
I love the facility and the people, but the corporation is wearing thin already.
The corporation only because they have put so much into a program that’s clearly not working that it’s hard for them to admit the loss and move on. I’ve spoken to others that are using this program in other businesses and they all have the same opinion of it.
I think I’m going to go to bed early. I’m very tired the last while. I think I’m fighting something.

Very little snow here but bitterly cold even with abundant sunshine. I got some new alpaca clothing as a gift from N this Christmas and they are getting a good test every time I leave the house.
Our 8th date was brief but fun: three consecutive days of sporting events which we thoroughly enjoyed. He got to see where I work during the winter and why I keep in shape to be able to do the job. Ate out more than normal, but after a couple of low CI days, the scale returned to where it was when he arrived. All anxiety about hosting him has dissipated as he has visited enough times to begin leaving a few clothing items. He volunteered to make minor repairs. He makes the bed and cleans the kitchen with no prompting. And my cat adores him! Mars settled on Ns lap more than mine. We continue to grow more and more comfortable with each other. Not sure when our 9th date will be. For now it's nice to return to our routines and plan for the next adventure.
Barbie: "Prescribing a Cat" book sounds v interesting. I'm going to look for it after I finish "The Lion in the Living Room." Machka: you might like this one as it goes deep into describing Australia's love/hate relationship with cats.
The first 30 years of my life were spent in Los Angeles. I am beyond distressed about the fires. I have good friends who have evacuated, but haven't posted updates as to the status of their homes. Just saw many of them this past June at my high school reunion. Shaking my head in disbelief over the scale of this disaster. Tina, glad to hear you aren't impacted. May you, Mister and your property stay safe.
Grateful tonight for all the good memories I carry of my time in Los Angeles: Attending UCLA, working in the television industry, the beaches at Malibu, the Hollywood Bowl concerts, the drives around Mulholland, the bright warm days of winter and beautiful flowers and fruits that grow year round. It's such a special place, and now.....??? 😢
Busy week ahead. My 69th birthday is tomorrow and the get togethers have begun. Last night was dinner with my niece and her partner. The rest of the week I have lunches with friends. Will dress warmly, smile and be loving, and soak in the good feelings without getting cray-cray with the food and wine. Stay well, friends. We can do this.
