She did good! Bread looks edible! My bread was like an inch high. I killed the yeast. I came back to husband with half the loaf in his belly, "this is awesome flatbread dear"! "Why thank you husband". Lol!
I had a dye test and they took pictures as it dyed the one that was big. I hope the meds help! Hugs!

Ginny - I’m sure it’s age of the original stent that’s the issue as well.
Machka - I really need to start walking again.
Lisa - can’t wait to see your finished bath.
Levi is adorable!
Margaret - you put a lot of thought into your purchases. I bet you’ll be very happy with them.
Love the ice sculpture First Steps.
Rita - sorry for the loss of your MIL. I empathize with you on your son. My MIL has grandchildren and a daughter living with her and I think she pays for most things. It’s maddening.
Kylia - Nice pics of you and your grands. Glad your husband’s foot wasn’t worse.
Heidi - Cute pictures of the baby shower.
Rebecca - your hair looks nice.
I need to get mine cut, but have been being lazy about it.
Michele - Cute Kermit. I don’t bowl well either. Rodger’s family are all great bowlers, his grandfather owned the bowling alley. Our niece won the National Youth Championship in probably 2005 or 2006.
It’s candlepin bowling though.
A plain old Monday here. I did barbecue again tonight. I don’t know how warm it got today, but everything was melting. Supposed to be +3 tomorrow. -21 by next Monday.
Kaitlyn was able to FaceTime with her grandmother today. She told her if she could just go the bathroom she can go home. So hopefully tomorrow. No word on the consult.

There was just a post on Facebook how the soup kitchen has really exploded. Serving more meals, more lunches, etc. so they’ve purchased a different place and will be moving there. Have no idea when. Isn’t it sad that this is needed?
We will probably go to ceramics tonight and Vince will take a pillow with him.
Took the bandage off my cyst and since it isn’t oozing, didn’t put another one back on. It’s still sticking out a little, hopefully, that’ll go down
Went to bowling and I started to cry. It’s just so frustrating when you get gutter ball after gutter ball. I asked the guy who runs the shop if there was anyone who gave bowling lessons, I need them. People give me advice, do this, do that, stand here etc etc etc. I know they mean well, but they aren’t a Kyle Troop. What works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for another. Well, this guy watched me and then gave me a few pointers. Then I got my high game – 88. But at least I hit some of the pins. So I’ll try using his pointers when we got prebowl this Friday and see if they continue to help.
Heidi – I usually log as I go along. Oh, there have been times when I’ve been over calories so I eliminate something just to get under calories. But I am finding that since I don’t add in my exercise calories, I’ll have a snack and justify it as the calories from exercise. Also, I find that eating at night isn’t good for me as I tend to gain weight.. So I’ve got to curb that. I try to do that by doing the jigsaw puzzle, going for a walk when it gets lighter longer. I also try to log an apple and have that or crackers shortly before bedtime. Great shower. Did you do all the cooking?
Taxes: Vince uses TurboTax. So does Jess.
Debbie – I really don’t care for Celestial Seasonings mainly because there isn’t a string to get the teabag out of the tea. I can’t drink black tea – makes my stomach upset. Honestly, I like the tea that’s on sale. I got some Egyptian Licorice by Yogi that I like. Also, green tea pomegranate by Bigelow and Peach and Orange by Twinings. Like I said, what’s on sale

I have noticed more families going through when I help at the food bank/food program when I am up at mom's. Great that these places are available.
When I was younger and would go bowling with friends, my best friend and I used to have a contest between the two of us- see who could get the most gutter balls. It made it fun even if we were terrible at bowling. DH used to play on a league before we met. Hasn't bowled in over 25 yrs. He doesn't think his hips could handle it.
I do the same thing with my exercise calories. I never use them but may have a snack after I am done tracking for the night and justify it that way.
I go for the teas on sale too!! I find Celestial Seasonings tea on sale quite often both at Safeway and Grocery Outlet. I usually get them for $2 a box.
Can you drink Jasmine tea? I like that or ginger tea when my stomach is bugging me. Jasmine is not as strong of a black tea. White tea is even more mild.

Had a great walk with my zumba friends tonight- Next Monday we start back at class. It has been fun meeting at the park and walking our regular class times plus an extra day in there a couple times but it will be great to be back at class.
Walked the dog twice plus this walk puts me just over 10miles/22,500 steps
I only got one rose bush half way pruned. It is my largest-it is in a wine barrel but really tall(up to the eaves of the house or taller). I was working on it then dh needed my help doing wound care on the one stray cat we have in the new catio- still doing daily saline rinses along with antibiotics in his food twice a day. It is finally closing up.
Tomorrow we will do yard work at MIL's and beings I don't walk with my friends or wetlands so I will walk the dog a little longer.

Rita: So sorry to hear about your exMiL passing.
Monday painters was productive. I did a watercolour version of the acrylic I did last week.
No groups today and DH is going to badminton this morning, so a little quiet me time.
Tomorrow is just early shopping day. Thursday is our monthly meeting, and I will need to do my group accounts and sort out hall rents. Friday morning I have Latin.
I will fit in my chores and exercise quite easily. Next week is very busy.

It may help to go on a MIND diet it is diet that emphasizes plants, smaller meat portions, little to no junk food. Good quality proteins. If meat is eaten try to find meat that has not been fed poor feed.
I can attest to this diet because it is basically the one I have been on this past year. I have added low grain consumption to this diet too. I know what it has done for my mood and my quality of life. I no longer have to use will power to avoid the foods that are not good for me. I use knowledge. I know how I feel when I eat poorly and I also know what happens to the scale. This is what keeps me on track.
I think I shared this before. One of the books I read told that the actress Jane Seymore's father was a doctor. He would not let junk food in the house because he already knew the long term effects would be bad...You look at her today she is in her seventies and looks like she is in her 40's. I do understand she is not without some health issues but I would think if she stayed on the course her father set it makes it easier to manage her health issues.
I also mentioned I was reading a news summary website and they showed a picture of a man who lived on processed food for fifty years. It was not a pretty picture.
I grew up eating very little "junk food". Of course, that may depend on the definition of "junk food".
Usually a sensible cereal for breakfast ... only occasionally could we have artificially coloured sugar cereal.
Our big meal was at noon - meat and veg.
We were allowed 1 cookie with milk or sugar-free apple juice after school. Sometimes the cookie was one my grandmother made, other times it was store-bought.
A light dinner - like a sandwich, soup or salad. If there was dessert, it was a small quantity of fruit or jello.
Fruit for supper, shortly before bed.
On Saturdays, we'd have brunch ... then several hours later we'd have something special like homemade spaghetti, lasagne or pizza ... and a little bit more dessert with dinner like a piece of cake or pie.
There was very little processed food. But I guess it depends if things like cake or jello qualify as "junk food".
I will add that I often felt slightly hungry, especially as I got into my teens ... but I was very slender!

Machka - You have your hands full for sure! I hope your husband is doing better. Congrats on keeping moving. I know that can be challenging when you are busy. I love the rain. Does it rain a lot there? Your back garden is stunning. What an incredible haven. I find beekeeping to be terrifying and satisfying. I work with Carniolans. I am proud to say I have still in my 50 years, never been stung. I have only been working with bees for 10 years now. But I am sure my day will come. Ha!
Have a great week everyone! be safe, stay warm.

The good news is that most likely my husband does not have a blood clot. I'm not quite sure why the Emergency doctor thought a clot was such a possibility he arranged an ultrasound, but it's reassuring.
Meanwhile, my husband is still in a pointed toe cast until his surgery ... whenever that will be. We were hoping to hear from someone today, perhaps it will be tomorrow. If we don't hear tomorrow, I'll be placing some calls.
He definitely needs surgery ... there's at least a 2 cm gap between ends of his Achilles tendon and since it has been nearly 4 weeks since the accident, and since my husband is not young anymore, they're talking about needing a graft.
However, my sneaky husband has found a way to walk with his pointed toe cast!! He's not supposed to do that! So I have started making enquiries about the knee walker/scooter.
It rains a fair amount in winter here ... weather kind of like the Pacific Northwest of North America. But it's summer now and has been very dry. There's a bushfire going near where we used to live ... we moved just under a year ago. I could see the smoke plume on my walk today.
Our bees are golden Italian bees ... very quiet. We've been beekeeping for 3 or 4 years.
Our backyard is in its early stages as we moved in last year.

My BP was pretty good (for me) this morning. 133/77. I think that's the lowest it's been for some years, so I won't have to up my dose of Losartan. I'm on the lowest dose - 12.5 mgs.
The in-house pharmacist is ringing me after 2 pm today, and I hope she's pleased. The only recognised side effect I get, is an occasional background headache. I do have annoying bloating of my upper abdomen, but I'm not sure if that's the drug.
I've taken a couple of steps to get myself out there, by emailing a couple of organisations. It's only a preliminary enquiry, to see if they are interested in a visit from me, and a chat about any aspect of my writing life. Or just life! I did one yesterday and one this morning. Baby steps.
Bea pick up today, so I hope I will get the phone call sooner rather than later.

Are you on social media? Facebook? Instagram? Linked In? Youtube? Medium?
If I were approached with a "preliminary enquiry", one of the first things I'd do is to browse social media to see what kind of presence the person has.
Actually, when I've gone to a work conference in-person or online, and I meet someone interesting, the first thing I do is to check Linked In to see if I can connect with that person. I may also have a look at some other social media apps to see if I can find out more about the person.
If there's no social media presence, it's a bit disappointing because I can't maintain any connection with that person.

Hey, kids,
Productive day yesterday, and just flew by... Getting this darn afghan assembled is taking longer than I thought it would... and going back to that discussion of obsessively working on something until it's done, I've been trying to put it to the side and I'm having a hard time doing it.
In my head, I've already got it boxed up and mailed to my sister. Which reminds me, I need to get another large mailing box from the post office the next time I'm out. Will be glad to get the bits and bobs for this project out of my living room! It will be about 60x80" (150cmx200cm) when it's finished, so it's pretty big.
Also eager to have it done because until it's done and I quit crochet for the moment, I can't begin to really teach myself to knit. While at one level I do know how, I need to retrain my fingers to knit and purl smoothly instead of chain stitch and double crochet, which I can do without looking for minutes on end. I've been crocheting since I was 13 - so more than 50 years! Tough habit to modify - they are similar enough to make it hard - but I figure I need to add a few new grooves into my brain. It's time, I've got the needles and the yarn, I just have to get this afghan finished.
Got a video finished yesterday morning, just need to give it some finishing touches and get it up and scheduled today. Then start writing the next script. Starting to get that groove down, getting less self-critical, and setting things up better so I don't have to do as much editing, which is a huge time suck.
Off to swap the one load of laundry for today... oh - for those following the story, my BF's dad is thriving in the new hospital, and she's completely thrilled. Apparently, moving him from hydrocodone to oxycodone has helped his brain fog diminish sharply, while still keeping some of the pain at bay. He's sleeping for long periods of time. He's getting himself out of bed and walking. Best of all, he's moved away from just doing enough to go home so he can die there, and is now eager to go home to get back to his life. Very different change in attitude. 💗
Later y'all,
Love,

Rita ... so very sorry to hear of your former MIL's passing. 102 is a long time!
Barbara ... in November my mammogram showed micro calcifications that were biopsied in December. While the area is non-cancerous (yay!) the cells are showing abnormal growth patterns. Weird things that don't grow can stay, but rogue cells ... out they go. So on Friday I'm having surgery under general anesthesia to remove this misbehaving area.
I had my stress test yesterday and it was normal but I am very embarrassed by my lack of fitness. It was a short test because of leg fatigue ... not heavy breathing ... not heart pounding ... but my legs were not going to last much longer on the inclined track. I asked if I did enough to get a good picture of my heart and they said yes, but still! They also had the results of a stress test that I did in 2009 and there were no changes so that was good. However, once this breast surgery is behind me I need to get serious about exercising again. I knew I wasn't moving enough and now I have proof.
Today my sinuses are acting up and I'm just going to lay low for the next few days. I do not want this surgery delayed by illness.
Beth near Buffalo9 -
I am continuing to move along one step at a time. I've made calls to all sorts of agencies trying to get things settled and so many of them are "in process" and I'm waiting for a reply by phone or mail or email or something. Life cannot be rushed no matter how hard I try. My better response was from the local electric company. The woman walked me through filling out the online form to transfer service and accepted a death certificate via email. She was kind and patient. I don't know yet if the account is actually in my name, but the electricity is still on.

Machka: My diet as a child was very similar to yours. There wasn’t a lot of money for extras, and we still had rationing until I was six. There weren’t to many chubby children about in those days. We got good wholesome home cooked meals, supplemented by free milk and school dinners. Jelly and custard or rice pudding was our Sunday dessert. And, yes, always slightly hungry, and never refused seconds if they were offered. 🥰 the grad pic. It was taken on the lawn of Queens University Belfast where I did my teaching degree.
Lisa: Good news about your BFs dad. I had to give up knitting because I had problems with one of my thumbs. Also
Learnt to crochet as a small child, taught by my Dearest Nana.

This is the way I have hot chocolate and marshmallows now...
Fell on an odd piece of ice yesterday walking Drew she was excited to see some Workers on our street yesterday and wanted to say hello. It knocked the wind out of me and because of the way I fell my elbow punched my upper side. I had a minor injury to the side of my leg... Pain on leg gave it a 4. Pain on side gave it an 8. I treated with Arnica cream and Arica homeopathic remedy. Also treated with an Epson salt bath. Took a quercetin to help with swelling (quercetin is found in plants) and it helps with histamine released with an injury. Slept on my back on the couch with breath strip and mouth tape. Concentrated on taking deep diaphragmatic breathing. Read important to keep breathing deeply with an injury like this because shallow breathing can set you up for pneumonia. I like homeopathic remedies because they work without having to go through your digestive system. You place it under your tongue and medicine enters your blood stream from your mouth. When I ate dinner I concentrated on eating nutritious healing food. Also drank plenty of water and rested.
Today leg is at a 1 and side is at a 3 for pain. If I was still at an 8 I would go in to get evaluated for a possible fracture or break. I know I will have to be careful with minimal lifting pulling...More rest too!
I wanted to add my neighbor called me to check on me. She saw me fall and wanted to make sure I was okay. Yes I am staying in this house for a foreseeable future. You cannot buy caring kind neighbors.12 -
@Heidi. Pink AND blue! Cute! LOL
Well, my cough and sinus gunk is back. Started coughing like a fool last night and got up with stuffed sinuses, sore ear, and back to cough, though not as bad as last time yet. At least I had 3 or 4 good days. Somehow I knew that when I ran out of antibiotics and cough prescriptions, it would come back. it did. Must call doc office in a bit.
Unfortunately, no walking today but on the bright side, I got an hour in yesterday all at once. I was happy to be back to that, until the coughing started again. Sheesh, this stuff is bad, whatever this illness is! (Not flue or Covid, been tested twice for those).
Tea I have given up coffee due to it causing my colitis to tell me know by cramping my gut and triggering other symptoms. I also get the same response from black tea, so only green tea and flavors made with green. No symptoms with that. At Christmas, I found a set of flavored green teas at half price, so going through that. Peach, pear, mango, and my favorite lemon. Drinking the peach now and finished the can of pear already. They come in pretty cans which my DH snags when I empty. SIGH……
Thyroid I have hypothyroidism, which runs in my family. My sister’s simply stopped working completely and my mom had hers removed. I do know that my PHT for the parathyroid is on the high side. My doc blames it on the synthroid I am on for the hypo… I do have CKD 3a so that may be contributing to the thyroid issues too.
My 52 year old nephew is not on dialysis 3 times a week from not taking care of his diabetes. He kidneys went into complete failure. He is also on the kidney transplant list. His mom, my SIL has diabetes and had a twin sister who did not take care of her diabetes and died from that. My SIL doesn’t take care of hers either but she’s made it to 69 so far. Things like this run in families IMO mostly from monkey see, monkey do. Kids do what the parents do. They learn unconsciously by imitating the parents. Unless, they notice it and do something different. In my case, I’ve always been on the healthy food kick, even when I was a kid. I fell in love with the idea that I may have Native Canadian (Indian) in my heritage and got into herbs, and oils, and natural stuff early on. None of which my mom did. She went for convenience as soon as she stopped growing gardens for the money savings. Today, I grow my herbs and little garden because I like to and can brag the results are organic. I try to buy non GMO plants and seeds when doing my garden. I also like to always have a bit of an herb garden in or outside! On that, anyone here use an Aerogarden? I tried it once and got great results with the first batch of herbs, but the subsequent grows did not work. Not sure what I did wrong. I am looking forward to having a home with room to grow inside once again.
This is long enough so here is today’s Though for the day
How many apples grow on a tree?
All of them!!🍎

Rita - So sorry about your ex-MIL.
Beth - Hope they get everything they're looking for and that the recovery is swift and pain-free. Glad they don't think it's malignant. There are few uglier words than that one, for so many reasons. On the exercise front, I can say at Day 22 that the 10- to 15-minute exercise daily is really helping a lot of things, from my sleeping to my muscle tone. I recommend it as a way to start, as well as something that's sustainable. Not much has been sustainable over the last years for me, so I'm awfully pleased this is actually working.
Margaret - So sorry about the fall, but it sounds like you have things taken care of. Great self-care choices, as always!
Barbie - Well done on getting things straightened out, one by one. The kind ones are always a boost, after dealing with an awful lot of people who don't seem to care. I couldn't bring myself to call the ortho clinic yesterday, but finally did - because your post reminded me, thank you. And... of course they've received nothing for me, according to the person I got on the phone, who was quite miffed that I asked if they'd received anything from the VA a second time, and told me quite sharply that, if they had, they would have called me for an appointment. Two more phone calls to make... *sigh*. Not my favorite either.
Terri - LOVE that pic! The heels are just spiffy.
It reminded me that I'd run across my grad photo just the other day. It always shocks me, for the obvious reasons - these pictures were taken 10 years apart. I had the gastric bypass done three years prior to the picture at the right. I weighed 275 pounds in the pic at left, and would go on to gain another 28 pounds in the ensuing years, finally shocking myself into action about my weight once I passed the 300 mark.
I remember that woman in the left-hand picture above. I was so heavy that it hurt just to walk - because I was literally bigger around than I was tall. I was 62" around and 61" tall, having lost an inch in height due to the compression of the weight. Still - I graduated in 1998 (at the age of 38) with my bachelor's degree, and did it with honors in three and a half years. The weight never stopped me, it was just one more obstacle to surmount. So I did.
I pull these pics out occasionally, to remember.
Sorry - that went sideways fast.

I am being careful with Arnica. It is a medicine and needs to be respected as such. I am not allergic to mums so I check that box. My blood pressure has be great 120 or lower and lower than 80. Not on a blood thinner. So there are predisposing factors that would not make it a treatment for everyone.3

Oh wowsa that must've been kinda scary for you! They had to use that "vein finder" on my arm to get a deep vein, then they took pictures, had me go away for a couple hours (we went and had pizza, with my IV still attached) then they reconnected me and took more photos. Crazy day as you have to position your body on this flat panel, it was so uncomfortable! Glad the topical is ok for you.

My attempt to get Jake's name off the cable/internet account was dramatic contrast to the wonderful service at the electric company yesterday. I went into the office and the woman told me they didn't do account name change at the office any more and I'd have to fill out a form, attached documents, and either mail or FAX it to the main office in Pennsylvania. There was no comment about being sorry for my loss or sorry that I had to do this paperwork on my own. On the way home, I reframed it with gratitude that I had the brains and technology to take care of it. So the papers are in the mail and I've noted what I did on my list of what I've done.
