Accountability Post

Everyone wants to have an accountability partner, but what does that really mean? When it comes down to it, the only person who can truly hold you accountable is YOU. That’s why I’m starting this discussion thread—to keep track of my progress and share updates. Honestly, I’m not sure if anyone else will see this, but if not, I’ll just treat it like a daily blog. So, let’s jump right in!

Day 2: Reinitiating MyFitnessPal
Today marks day 2 of getting back into MyFitnessPal. According to my tracker, I’ve been under my calorie goal for the last two days (111 and 97 calories under, respectively). That said, I’m not great at gauging portions, so there’s a chance I’m off on my estimates—this has always been my biggest struggle with weight loss.

On the positive side, I’ve hit my daily step goal of 5,000 steps and closed my exercise ring both days. It feels good to move in the right direction. I’m hoping that this whole “new year, new me” mindset sticks this time around. I know hard work and determination will be the key to success.

Here’s to staying consistent! If anyone else stumbles across this thread, feel free to share your journey too. Let’s keep each other motivated!

Day 3 of this journey, and I’m proud to say I’m still under my calorie goal! I’ve been hitting my step goals and even made time to relax before a pre-bed workout to close that ring. Honestly, I’m surprised by how much energy I still have—I don’t feel as tired as I expected, which is a win in itself.

I’ve also reintroduced intermittent fasting, and it’s been great so far. It feels like a reset button for my body and mind, and I’m hopeful it will help me stay consistent. While I know it’s early, I’m looking forward to seeing even the smallest results. Those little victories can be so motivating, and I’m excited to keep pushing forward on this journey.

Here’s to staying focused and celebrating progress, no matter how small!

I agree! Those little victories definitely help keep you motivated. I was 10 minutes from closing my exercise ring and stopped for a quick nature walk on my way home from work. The fresh air and mental release was amazing.

My goal is creating a healthier lifestyle. Walking at a fast pace daily for 30+ minutes and strength training 3 days a week; less alcohol and a healthier diet.

I started this month with the “dry January” challenge. Last year I completed the challenge, but February 1st went right back to having 2 glasses of wine daily. This time the focus will be on the new habit after the challenge. Continue with no alcohol, alcohol only when out with friends, or only on the weekend.

A food scale is extremely helpful and an eye opener on portion size. It’s a great investment.

You’re doing great; keep it up!

Day 4: Restarting my health journey with MyFitnessPal has been both challenging and rewarding so far. Today marked our final Christmas celebration, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit nervous about how I’d handle the food.

The day was hectic—running around, cleaning the house, and prepping for the in-laws. It felt nonstop, but I made a plan and stuck to it. Breakfast was simple: coffee with Premier Protein, a strategy to "save" calories for the big Christmas dinner. Lunch was light and intentional too—not because I planned to go crazy at dinner, but because I knew the food served would be more calorie-dense than usual.

When dinnertime rolled around, I focused on portion sizes and stayed mindful of my choices. I didn’t feel deprived, nor did I overindulge. Somehow, I managed to stay within my calorie goal for the day!

It feels incredible to hit this milestone, especially during a celebration where it’s easy to let things slide. I’m beyond ecstatic and so proud of myself for staying committed. Small wins like these remind me that I’m capable of balancing life and my health goals. Here's to many more victories in this journey!
