Tracking More Than 5 Nutrients

Everything I've seen says I can track more than 5 nutrients in MFP and, sure, I can see more than 5 when I click on Nutrients but, when I go to change which ones I'm tracking, I only see 5 drop down menus. Bottom line, is there a way to track more than that? Moreover, is there a way to add foods with more than that? The food add page has such limited options for what nutrients are in them.

You can only show 5 columns on your food diary. As you say, you can see others on the Nutrients page.

I think it's just that your definition of track (which seems to be "see on your diary page") is different from MFP's definition of track (which seems to be "see on some page in the app").

As far as only certain nutrients being tracked, MFP's general philosophy seems to have been tracking the nutrients that are listed on US nutrition labels per regulations. Since the database is primarily crowd-sourced - entered by regular users, usually from food labels - that probably made sense to them at design time. They haven't fully integrated the last round of US nutrition-label changes, though.

If you'd like MFP to do something different, the place to say that would be here:

In most of the Community topic areas here, you're just chatting with other regular MFP users like me, who have no more power over the software than you have. In that area linked above, the MFP staff does read posts, and sometimes responds.
