Have yall found that intermittent fasting (16:8) and drinking 64 oz of water a day has helped with weight loss? And possibly even making skin appear more clear?

IF only works if it causes you to consume fewer weekly calories than you were consuming before. Water does not affect weightloss unless it causes you to consume fewer calories. You do burn more calories however from running to the bathroom every 15 minutes. Semi clear urine is a sign that you're properly hydrated.3

There are a few studies that show that eating earlier in the day helps to reduce hunger throughout the day, and can lead to reduced fat storage as compared to eating the bulk of your meals later in the day. It seems your body processes food differently based on circadian rhythms, so restricting your eating window to the earlier portion of the day could theoretically make some difference, but as above, the main thing is just ensuring that you are in a calorie deficit. If you are eating above your caloric needs within your eating window you will gain weight.
And water can help you feel full, so....if that helps you eat less, go for your life.5 -

IF only works if it helps you to eat less calories. If you still eat too many calories it won't help at all.
I IF but not 'on purpose' it's just what works well in my day to eat/when I'm hungry.0 -
No, I haven't found that.1

Dr.Jason Fung books are great on this topic.0

No, but only in the sense that I lost weight fine while doing neither of those things, while age 59-60, severely hypothyroid (medicated), and menopausal, all thing some people will say are doom to weight loss or at least major roadblocks.
Intermittent fasting works great for some people, but it would make me miserable. Misery is unhelpful. I eat anytime during waking hours.
As far as water consumption, hydration needs are individual, and depend on circumstances (like activity level, climate, etc.). Hydration is more than water, coffee/tea counts, fluid in foods like soup or fruit counts, etc. If urine color is pale, not clear or dark, high odds hydration is fine. For some, that will require much less than 64 ounces of water, for some it will require much more. Some people do find that more water consumptions blunts their appetite. If that's true for you, more may be helpful.
Personally, pretty much all I did was rein in my calorie intake to the right level, while trying to stay mostly full and happy and get overall good nutrition on average eating foods l like. I didn't change the range of foods I ate, because I already ate lots of nutritious foods (too much ). I changed portion sizes and frequencies of calorie dense things. I didn't significantly increase exercise, because I was already more active than average for my demographic. I just ate fewer calories on average. Weight dropped. Almost 9 years after reaching goal weight, I'm still at a healthy weight.
For me, that was the easiest possible plan. I like easy plans, because they increase the odds of success.1 -
I've been reading a lot about fasting and how it aids in keeping insulin levels low so that your body taps into fat burning. Read obesity code, it is not as simple as calories in calories out. I currently do IF. There are other health benefits to fasting including lowering inflammation which impedes weightloss as well. There is the "clean" way to fast though for these benefits. Look up fast feast repeat.3

Intermittent fasting is a way to lose weight. But I've also found that with intermittent fasting that the weight comes back more in the long run. That it's better (for me) to restrict my calories than to under nourish my body.0

I read Obesity Code too. However, I also read Master your Metabolism. and have come to the conclusion that it's better to use food to fuel your body rather than deprive yourself of nutrients to lose weight.

And yes calories in and out will always be the fatloss factor. Don’t get out into the weeds with all the other hype of IF.

in my case - No.
I lost weight without doing IF nor tracking how much water I drank0 -
IF works for me because I’ve never been a fan of breakfast and often skipped lunch to avoid the afternoon energy crash. Fasting leaves me feeling energized, clear headed, and alert, whereas eating earlier in the day tends to make me feel groggy. Plus, it allows me to enjoy most of my calories in one satisfying meal, with larger portions of food I enjoy.
It’s not that IF has any magical properties, none of that is definitively proven, but it does help people like me focus their calorie intake into a specific time window and not have to think about food for the rest of the day.1
