Any powerlifters out there.

I'm 15 and I'm wanted to become a powerlifter. Any advice on how to become one.

Rule One: use ONLY perfect form. If the weight is too heavy to lift with correct form, then you are not yet strong enough; reduce the weight until you are ready.

Rule Two: first follow Rule One

No, I am not trying to be funny. Weightlifting can easily lead to injuries, some severe, some which remain for the rest of your life. At your age, that's a LONG time! POWER-lifting makes the chance of injuries increase drastically, for everybody, including experts who have been doing it for decades.

Unless you have your form perfectly dialed in, do NOT try lifting heavier just for the sake of lifting heavier. The only possible exception is if you have a personal trainer who is certified in powerlifting monitoring you as you lift who gives different advice. Given the fact you're asking this question on the MFP forums tells me you do NOT have a trainer, so back to Rule One again.

Now, let's assume you do have perfect form, how can you progress in powerlifting? The number one piece of advice is practice, practice, practice. Most lifters hit every body part once or twice a week with a variety of exercises; if you want to get better at bench, squat and deadlift, then you need to practice bench, squat and deadlift. Repetition, making sure to get 48 hours between sessions to allow the body to rest and recover, all while you get adequate nutrition (at least 0.7 g/lb - 1 g/lb of bodyweight protein per day) and sleep.

This MFP thread includes a variety of exercise routines you can follow, including a few which are geared towards powerlifting.

Only wear a SBD belt, knee and elbow sleeves
Get chalk all over the gym, take massive rests between sets and eat lots of sweets between sets😂

    Also follow the advice above
