Hey, kiddos,
Got most everything done except the rugs, and decided to wait until my mind is quieter this afternoon. They will take very little time to do, but the work needs to be done precisely, and the measurements need to be right.
Got my script outlined, ready to go over after my shower, and possibly will go ahead and tape it at that point. We'll see.
Rebecca - So sorry about your aunt. I DO remember Prudence, you did a lot for her! Enjoy the time with your sister.
Sarah - Welcome. Glad you're here! Come back and visit any time. You may not get a lot of individuals who take you up on a friend request, as most of us just come here to the thread - and the thread is restarted at the beginning of each month... Barbie will post a link with the next month's thread on the last day of February. Stay with us, it's a great bunch of women who understand what you're going through. If you sign your name as I do below, with first name and state or area, we'll get to know you better and faster!
Lynn - The hardest part is just looking down and not seeing them. We're glad you're here, and we know it takes time. Come here whenever you need to.
Got a meal into me, was too hungry to wait for 11 a.m., which I do usually try to do. Got the dishes going, and want to get the clothes folded and put away before I jump in the shower.
Later, y'all!
Love,
Lisa in AR

Rebecca - I remember Prudence and how it was such a challenge for her and the help you lovingly provided before it became too much. Glad you were able to get her referred to services that could help her.
Lynn - I just checked out Get Fit with Rick. Love his accent, the scenery and the moves. Agree he's a nice change from Leslie Sansone.
Sarah - welcome! Barbie is right, several of us could be your mothers (or maybe favorite aunt!) I keep reading more and more that getting fit in our 50's and developing some good habits as far as paying attention to nutrition (cutting way back on sugary and processed food, for example) and remaining as active as we can is the best way to prepare for our later years. Best of luck with your surgery. Has your doctor/surgeon given you any tips for preparing for it such as walking more (if you can without pain) etc.?
Thinking I need to re-read James Clear's "Atomic Habits" one of these days. Some of my favorite ways to start good habits from when I read it last - "just show up" and "do 10% more." In other words, don't jump in with both feet and risk failing and disappointment and possible injury. Start small and gradually build. Our bodies love it when we take on new things wisely at our own pace.
Sounds like an atmospheric river is headed for the Pacific Northwest. I tightened up the straps holding down tarps over the chicken run this morning; think I picked up and put away anything that could set sail. Depending on the weatherman, we'll either have 15 or 60 mph gusts tonight. Another good reason to just be prepared and turn off the news.

MFP Weekly Check-in for February 24, 2025
Rita in Roswell NM - I’m giving up actively dieting for now. Stress too high with move and family. Just going to try to eat healthy and deal with stress.
Barbara on the Southern Oregon Coast – WT still creeping up (134.3), Feb average up a half pound from Jan. Looking back at 2024, same blips up winter and spring, down summer and fall AF and CI a little better, sugar and steps stink, might shirk BB&B this morning due high wind and flood warnings.
Lanette in SW WA State – weight up to 161# this morning. Step average 8440 this week, so down a tad. Total activity minutes – 285. House walking, 10-15 minutes at a time, carrying weights.

I had a quiet day. All I really accomplished was my editing first thing after breakfast. Some hip exercises.
Did some Duolingo. Watched a BBC programme on the Balkans. We are cruising to Croatia in a year's time, so it was interesting.
I felt a bit guilty for not going out for a walk, as it was sunny, but ..... oh well.
Nothing wrong with a quiet day now and again.
No Bea pick up tomorrow. But we have both girls after school on Friday, as the parents will be at the memorial service, which my son is organising. We will bring them back here. Or John will.
Today's edit was weird, as it was the chapter about my stillbirth. The writing was all over the place, understandably, so every sentence had to be carefully groomed. I think it's in better shape now.
Love to all. Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Evening all
My sleep is all over the place ,cat woke me up before 4 am this morning,Delia cried most of the morning so was exhausted by the time I got home and took a nap, woke up at 5:30,so who knows what time I will be awake until tonight..
I guess Alfie isn't going to the vet until Wednesday.so there is that..
.
SMiles out feeding the chickens at daycare and poor Delia sleeping after crying herself to sleep from the teething poor sweetie..2 -
Sarah-I had cervical fusions on my neck about 2 years apart-about 25 years ago. May be showing age signs but they were definitely worth it.
Health update:Well, I have already received my bine density results-they look pretty much like two years ago and I am still classed with osteopenia. Will keep my calcium and exercise routine up.
In terms of the cancer, we are still watching but next blood work and CT scans scheduled for four months (instead of 6). The largest tumor is close to my diaphragm. Next line of treatment will most likely be lenvima. At June appointment going to meet with oncologist as well as my Endo, although Endo is reviewing images with oncologist now to make sure he is not overlooking anything or suggests anything different at this point. So I am going to go forward with plan to retire at end of June. If I am getting treatments I want to be settled and I can't arrange all that overnight.
Allie-Delia's teething seems to be going on for an extended time. Too bad they won't give her anything for relief. I'm surprised she is tolerating the cold in the house.
Rebecca-one of the women in my ladies group heard me refer to us as the old ladies group-she seemed a bit insulted. I told her since I am the youngest one at 70 that we are a group of old ladies and should be darned glad we are here!
Well, did not sleep well at all last night. While I hate to I believe I will take a Benadryl to help me sleep tonight. I have a 7:15 appointment with my CPN for. my annual checkup and then in to work. I have a hair appointment at 2 so will take vacation the rest of the day. Learning to pace myself,
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio6 -
I affectionately refer to this group as my "old lady fitness board." 💕

Its not until the end of March, so I have awhile. Actually I haven't even discussed this trip with my sister, so there's that!🙃
Happy video making! You're very good at it friend!

Lynn,
Losing a companion is so hard. I was destroyed when I lost my first dogs, Alfie(an Old English Sheepdog) and Rusty. At least Alfie was loved until his crossing, and as I told you before, Rusty passed alone. That was heartbreaking. I am so happy Libby was loved as she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I am sending you a tight hug.
XO,
Mo in Mississippi1 -
I will try again tomorrow. Thought post saved but.. not this time.
I am better tonight. I am thankful for all of you! I hurt with those hurting.
Kylia in Ohio1 -
Lisa I was shocked when a cousin mentioned sharing his pot with his teenage kids, I can barely imagine your rage at John's mom sharing her "stuff".
Tracey, love the t shirts. I much prefer a v neck, I find a crew neck sometimes stifling.
Allie I would understand your daughter turning the heat off during the day if no one was home, but you and Delia are there!
I'm loving the pics of kiddies and kitties, keep 'em coming!
We are being threatened with the same wind and rain that the PNW is supposed to get. We did get some rain earlier, but no wind yet, although some ferries between the island and mainland have been cancelled. Nothing happening at our place, we'll see.
Congrats to those celebrating, hugs for those needing them and welcome to the new gals.

Did a HIIT DVD today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a spinning workout. After exercise, went to CVS to get more cereal for vince. I got 4 boxes of Cheerios for a little over $3.
Ginny – I usually don’t walk very fast. Honestly, I prefer to look around and take in the sights
Tracey – I take care of the dust bunnies under the bed by getting a bed with drawers underneath. There isn’t room for dust bunnies...lol Actually, that’s the kind of bed I want to get for down here but mainly since storage space is at a premium. Love the shirts, especially the blue one. I like clothing with color
Ginny another way I tackle the dust bunnies is to use my Roomba. Actually, I find it very helpful with the cats because no matter what you do, they ALWAYS have some litter out of the box. Instead of cleaning all the time, the Roomba gets it
Sarah – welcome. So sorry to hear you need surgery. When are you getting it?
Rebecca – of course I remember Prudence. You’re not an old fart...maybe young but certainly not old
Evelyn – I’m like you, I don’t want something around my neck. So many sweaters, even shirts, have a high neck, tho
Allie – you talking about Tracy turning off the heat during the day reminds me of the scene from Dr. Zhivago where the girl turns the heat off during the day and then turns it on right before her husband gets home
Rainy here so walked the walkway of each floor of the condo. Actually, I went up each level of each building and then back down so I got in almost 10,000 steps
Going to lunch tomorrow with friends of ours who used to live in Hickory but now live in Palm Coast. The husband had esophageal cancer and I understand he’s lost 70 pounds and most of his muscle mass. He’s supposed to have an operation Thurs where they’ll insert a stent in his esophagus because right now it’s the size of a pea. I did ask his wife if going to lunch would be too much for him but she said no. Guess in a sense it’s good to get out of the house.
Was listening to a podcast while I was walking today and they said how one way to not have a lot of dessert is to go to the table after everyone else has gone because a lot will be gone. That’s something I do when they have the birthdays at bowling
Michele from NC1 -
I keep Delia wrapped up in a blanet and I keep my coat over my legs today was warmer outside but still around 60 inside.
Oh well ..Im going to try and sleep knowing the cat will have me up in a few hours lol .my friend had to put her sweet Nicky down today he was 15. He was a sweet kitty. Miss my Alfie boy but know he is getting spoiled rotten1 -

weighed yesterday and thought I had sent the message to you, guess I didn't.
Well, it is exactly the same as the past two weeks. Still walking/zumba/etc for at least 5 miles, up to 8 every day except one each week. over 6 1/2 miles/15,000 steps today.0 -
Got a text from former hubby last night. He said he had gotten a call at midnight that his mom was having trouble breathing and they were going to start using a nebulizer. They had already had her on oxygen the past couple days while she was battling the flu. He drove up and stayed with her all day yesterday and again today. His dad lives in another section of the same care home(she is in the dementia ward and dad is in the independent living part) and he takes her for walks and sits with her all day every day. He finally got dad to go to his room and get some sleep this morning. They have been married close to 69 yrs. He said she is fighting but not sure if she will pull through.
Need all the prayers she can get.
Shirley was always the best mother in law to me. She has three boys and loved having a "daughter" to go shopping with. She LOVED to shop. I got to take her a couple times just a few years ago when she came out to CA to visit her oldest son who lives in the same town I do(we didn't live here back when I was married before). It was great and I got to tell her how much I appreciated her and that I should have appreciated her more back when I was still married to her son. Having the worst mother in law that I have now made me really appreciate what I had in the past.
He was supposed to text me when he got home but I haven't heard anything. It is just a 30 min drive. I am hoping he just went home and went to sleep and just forgot to text me. His younger brother will be sitting with mom tonight. Oldest is here in town but had heart ablasion (sp?) surgery today so can't be back there right now.
I am sure I will have a text in the morning. Hoping she has gotten stronger and will pull through
