Lanette, sounds like lovely weather there with a view! I love that you have that option for them to help out at the gas station place in that capacity. I don’t know if we have anything like that near us.
Weeding is never fun; however, I love how my garden looks after I do!
You’re welcome for the charts!
@exermom
Michele, enjoy your fun in the sun!
You continue to inspire with your activity levels! Great job planning out your exercises for the week and dinners!4 -
We are having what I call "fake spring" here---warmish sunny days that get people outdoors working in their yards. Some people plant the little flowers they find at Home Depot and WalMart and other places and the little plants freeze to death in March and early April when winter comes back. Maybe today I'll go pull some weeds or do other clean up.
My lesson at Wal Mart is that I'll never go back. I found what I needed online.
The mobile dog groomer came yesterday. The dogs are clean and nails clipped. It's pricy and worth every cent. This is the time in my life to use the money I saved over the years to buy the services I can't do for myself.
Clutter clearing lesson for now---celebrate every item I discard, even if there are only a few and they are small.

Busy day yesterday. Unexpected meeting with the rangers about changes in personnel (only affects rangers). Then went to post office, then therapy. DH went to rental unit to empty car while I was there. Prior to all that, got an email from my DS about him falling asleep at work and being sent to dispensary who then sent him to ER. Long story there, I then called my DOD and updated her about son, then left for the docs. After therapy, we went to Golden Coral for lunch then WM for meds and a few fresh veggies/fruit. Got home and found out DS denied being admitted to hospital for treatment. He quit talking to me for the night at that point. (For those that don’t know, he has schizophrenia and has run out of meds). My DH and I are in total meltdown because of all the sudden stress with forced move, changes in the park, problems with my DS and DMD. We are too old for this s**t!
So 2 Thoughts for today:
What did the drummer call his twin sisters?
Anna one, Anna two……
What animal is the best one to call if you are locked out of your house?
A monkey! 🤪 🙈🙉🙊
Have a great day! See you in March!

Lisa - What a super photo! I must dig out an early one of John and me.
The girls are here, playing cricket in the garden. Bea's pasta is cooked, and I will put Edie's gf pasta on soonest. I cook Bea's in advance because it takes ages. Farfalle. She always has pesto with it. Edie is having olives, cherry tomatoes and feta cheese.
We are having fish soup later. When I got the fish and prawns out of the freezer, they were covered in an iceberg! I hope they thaw out. The soup is French and we have it with the fish and prawns, croutons, and a rouille, which is a spicy, garlicky mayonnaise. I will also make a green salad.

Thanks ... it's going steadily.
On January 11, before I started actively losing weight, I did a 60 km bicycle ride. I had been cycling through the Christmas break and my legs felt pretty good to start. But once I hit the hilly section, I struggled. Then I had a long time during the rest of the ride to think about things as I plodded along.
I think of weight in terms of 2-litre bottles of pop (soft drink). Is that 68 oz in the US?
On January 11, I calculated that I could definitely stand to lose at least 16 kg (35 lbs). 16 kg = 8 of those 2-litre bottles of pop.
If we were to place 4 of those 2-litre bottles of pop into one shopping bag and 4 in another and then pick them up ... they'd be fairly heavy. If we were to go for a long walk carrying them, or try to jog carrying them, or if we were to put them in a backpack and go for a ride ... they'd soon start to feel really heavy.
No wonder I struggled in the hilly section of that ride!! And then had to do the rest of the ride quite slowly.
Now I've taken 2 of those 2-litre bottles of pop and placed them back on the shelf. My shopping bags are lighter! I can walk a bit further!
Meanwhile, I have been exercising to strengthen my legs (in particular, but other parts of me as well).
Now I cycle up hills and they're not quite so hard as they once were. Now I jog and can manage 1.5 km rather than just 1 km. I did a 7.5 km walk just recently which is the longest walk I've done in a long time.
Every 2-litre bottle of pop I put back on the shelf should make the activity I do a little bit easier.
And the more active I am now, the easier it should be for me to be active as I get older.

That's a great way to view it!
I have wanted to go to a gardening/landscape area of our home improvement store, with a scale and buy like 7 10 lb rocks. Then a sturdy backpack and just spend a year carrying them. Then when I lose 10 lbs, out comes a rock and I paint it and stick it somewhere. If they were flat rocks I could put them along with paving stones in a garden path.

Belated welcome back @jazzypdx Tamz in Chehlan Valley WA! Watch for Barbie’s link to the March thread later today.
Lanette well done on the seeding shelf and recycling!
Vicki praying the bank is a good fit for you and that your DH is truly recovered enough to return to work. It makes me mad that employers can refuse to allow workers to return to light duty.
Rebecca and Allie I was right there with you both. Yesterday, had many outdoor plans, dog walking, playing in dirt. Had a little toothache so took an aspirin and laid down “for a half hour”. Rolled over 3 hours later! SMH!
Ginny would it be better to have the surgery before your retirement is official?
Machka “..doing things we haven’t done before but have wanted to.” Brava! Two 2-liter bottles of pop “put back on the shelf”, bravissima! The cat/inkjet Venn diagram made me laugh out loud to scare Joe!
Beth watermelon, peppers and zucchini in NY State in February???
Margaret, “drop everything and dance” Inspiring! Might be my plan for March!
Mo my heart breaks for you. Not only are you an angel to your little charges, but an example of returning good for evil to your mom. ((hugs held extra long))
Kylia imho, if you’re full, stop eating. More important to honor your body’s signals than force yourself to eat to fulfill some external “minimum requirement.”
Heather what you said about small actions (and inactions) snowballing.
Barbie what you said about fake spring, but it’s oh so tempting!!!
Rita ((hugs held extra long))
Carol so glad you got back into your original FB account. Can you change the password to something that you know?
Time for me to drop everything and go outside to enjoy this beautiful sunshine. It’ll be gone tomorrow.
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Heather and Rebecca – you’re in the running for “Food Porn Queen”. I’m not sure who is in the lead
Just came back from walking to one store to take my plastic bags. Wanted to stop at the fitness place to see about the free use of it, but they close on friday at 2. what is it down here? Same thing with this bins and something place. I’d be interested to see it.
Cindy and everyone else in FL – I seem to be on the go busy so much. Yet, last night someone asked me what I did that day and it really didn’t seem like much. How do you all do it?
Ran the mop across the kitchen floor, it had water stains so just got that up. Didn’t do a fantastic job, just enough to make it look decent.
Well, gotta get ready for the pot luck

The girls told us at dinner time that my son had been on a business trip to Finland and had secured a big contract. He got home at midnight last night and today was conducting the Celebration of Life.
While in Finland he went husky sledging in Lapland.
In this picture, Bea is overarm bowling. John says she has perfect form! Note the homemade cricket bat made out of cardboard and tape.
They left at 5.40 for the swimming pool. Edie's session is 8.15 - 9.15.
They cheered us both up with their high spirits. On the way home from school they made up a song about everyone in the family. Hilarious!

Michele- thanks for the reminder- had a load of laundry that needed to be put in the dryer. Another load of pee pads.
Walked the wetlands again today- weather is PERFECT at 70 with just a slight breeze. Yesterday the breeze was a bit more.
Got in 18,000 steps /8.12 miles yesterday.
At 11,000 so far but walking the dog again in an hour and meeting my friend at the park at 6:30
Tomorrow son is meeting us at MIL's house to start clearing some of the stuff out, Not as much stuff that he wants to get rid of- he would be happy to just toss everything pretty much. Dh isn't ready for that much change quite yet but is willing to let ds move things around and get rid of some stuff.
His girlfriend has an interview in the optical dept at Kaiser(medical center) today. She works in that dept at Walmart and has for a few years. They paid for her training. They really want to move in to MIL's house by May because she is living with her brother/SIL plus their son and also her parents(brothers house) and SIL is expecting in May so they will need the extra bedroom. We will work on getting the house closer to the way they like but not totally the way son would like it. It will happen in time.

Good morning, all!
What a week last week was....
While the loss of our Libby was still fresh to us, I ended up with Covid on Monday - which is why I haven't posted since then. I have been down and out until basically yesterday. I didn't want to move. I don't know if it was all Covid, but I was so wrung out, so tired. I didn't have a bad cough, but my sinuses were so plugged and swollen. With all my health concerns, they immediately put me on Paxlovid. And while, I "think" it helped, it left me with THE WORST taste in my mouth ever!! BLAH!! NOTHING tasted good - at all. Everything tasted bitter.
Did a short walk this morning, and will do another at lunch time. Back to tracking everything again also.
Hubby and I have decided at the end of the month, we are going to take a short weekend trip up to West Virginia and stay in some cabins that I found just for a chill weekend. I love a fire and they have fire places in the cabins. We are still close to where we usually go ride the side by sides, and can go visit a few friends if we want to while there.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!
