Ok so I started a weight loss program with the Nhs last week called ‘Morelife’ and the dietitian recommended MyFitnessPal, so here I am. This has to work for me because I have health problems eby being very overweight. I am 63 years old but my health and mobility is very poor. I feel as though my life is over when I should be enjoying retirement.

Hello Jeanette. Your life isn't over. You can still enjoy retirement. You just have to think outside the box. I am 52 but because of a genetic disorder my body's age feels more like 72. My mobility is limited. I just bought a walker a week ago. So if i go somewhere where I will need to sit down I will have something to sit on. I plan on getting a motorized wheel chair at some point. I am saving up the money for it but I also need to get back to being able to pick up 60 pounds.
The good news is that you can lose weight without exercise. I'm not saying don't exercise. But it's ok to do what you can. I have a stretching routine to try to regain some flexibility. Due to my genetic disorder I can't do yoga so I made a list of stretches I can do with the modifications I need to do them. You can also join the ymca and use their pool. Most insurance covers silver sneakers. I also started a chair exercise video today. It was awful... i mean i was awful. I lasted 8 minutes (about 2/3 of the video) but I know eventually I will make it through the whole thing. It's one day at a time.

Hello, and welcome!
If you commit to finding and following a plan that realistically works for you, you'll make progress . . . you may even surprise yourself at how much progress.
I was obese when I joined MFP at 59, reached a healthy weight at 60, and have been at a healthy weight since, now age 69. The health markers that were bad when I was obese - things like blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. - have been solidly normal since weight loss, in my case fortunately without needing meds for those. My joints hurt less routinely, and truly bothersome discomfort from them is very rare, when it used to be much more severe and frequent.
For me, the quality of life improvement from reaching a healthy weight (and staying there) has been more than worth the effort it took to get there. I admit, it takes some time to feel those benefits, so some willpower/discipline may be important at first. But I'd predict improvements all along the way, like things people talk about in this thread:
