Changing step goals

It would be more motivating if we can set the step goal to our ability instead of it showing something that is unattainable for some and for others it is not even a challenge. This is a real downfall with the app and demotivating for a lot of us.

The app is a guide not a hard rule. I am disabled. I can only stand around 10 minutes before pain sets in. So walking isn't even on my horizon at the moment. I thought i would start out with a seated workout video that was the length of 3 songs. I made it through 2 and felt horrible for a couple of days. I reassessed myself and my ability and changed to doing seated tai chi videos. My arms would get tired even through the first one but I decided after a week to move onto one a little longer. I've done it twice and I'm exhausted after 10 minutes. But i know eventually my arms will build up strength and I'll be able to find one more difficult.
The exercise I do isn't going to impact my weight loss. I do it because all movement is beneficial. You have to be responsible to yourself. Set goals, work toward them and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing you made YOUR goal before setting a new one.

Where are you seeing a step goal that comes from MFP? I don't have one that I know of. (I've been on MFP for almost 10 years, so I'm not saying I've seen everything, but I'm fairly familiar with the app.)
I think step goals usually come from a synced fitness tracker. Do you have a fitness tracker synced to MFP, or some other app that's syncing your steps to MFP? That could be the source of the goal. My tracker gives me steps goals, which I entirely ignore. I don't have it synced to MFP, so I don't know for certain whether it would push that goal to MFP if I did.0
