Yes, however, you may find certain foods leave you feeling hungry sooner than others. Most people will find foods containing protein to keep them fuller. But yes, you can eat whatever you like and lose weight as long as you are in a deficit0

This is a calorie counting website.
It's going back to regular maintenance calories that mucks with peoples heads. If you calorie count for the rest of your life, you might succeed but if you don't and don't address your food choices and just go back to the foods that found you in this predicament then the chances you don't put the weight back on are miniscule to none. But hey that's what happens when we address a symptom instead of the cause......which is western medicine in a nutshell.0 -
back in 2008 I lost 32lbs counting calories alone. then another 10 pounds after adding walking. It was doable. But I gained the weight back quickly after I stopped counting.
the next time I decided to eat better. I kept it simple. chicken, rice and veggies. I felt so much better and had so much energy. I was eating so much food even at 1200 calories that I ate ice cream for dinner just to cover the calories.
Now I'm more varied with what I eat. I'm trying to learn a new recipe every grocery trip. I still eat mostly the same thing from meal prep. But I am still eating a high volume of food and I still feel so much better than eating whatever and just counting the calories alone.
I wish you luck, however you decide to do it.

Sure, as long as you only care about weight loss, you can eat anything . . . unless what you eat isn't filling for you, in which case you won't be able to stick to your calorie goal because of raging appetite.
Oh, and unless you might care about your health, in which case getting generally well-rounded nutrition might be important, too. Same deal if you care about looking good (especially long term), having a good energy level, etc.: Reasonable nutrition matters for those, too.
It's a good idea to stick with reasonable calories, mostly filling and nutritious foods - pick the ones of those you like best -plus a few less nutrient dense treats occasionally just for enjoyment. Which are nutritious foods? Y'know, meat, fish, veggies, fruits, whole grains, etc.

Yeah, sure. Your body doesn't care where calories come from when it comes to body function and energy homeostasis. But you might feel rubbish if you eat too much food with little nutrition. Like 100g of crisps are about 550 calories. You could have a fab meal with different ingredients, or 100g of crisps: which one will keep you full and happy for longer? No problem doing that once in a while, but you'll probably burned out after a few days and start to binge.0
