Resetting my Pounds Lost

Hi. I have not been in MFP in over a year. Today, I’m resetting my “pounds lost,” and lowest weight I was last year which was 271. I’m 291 now. I’m scheduled for gastric surgery March 11, but still not 100% certain that I should go about it that way. This is no diss to anyone. Just thinking about myself and I feel like I have to give it one good shot that I’ve exhausted all measures consistently before I go under. So, here I am. I can always change my mind.

I like where your head is at! Check out some off the books by Tim Ferris. He is a nutritionist who has shared his findings after decades of clinically bio-hacking himself to find out how to manage metabolism while living a "normal" lifestyle.
Specifically, how minimum effective doses are more effective than excess excercise and dieting. This is because eleminaring the body's recovery cycles keeps it in muscle building/calorie burning mode. So as long as we eat protein and good fats and fiber rich foods we can stay satisfied while dropping 2-3lbs per week with only 20mins of cardio 3x/week! In fact, based on my goal, logging 1700cals per day (plus excercise cals burned) I struggle to reach my calorie limit most days.
Not telling anyone what to do but it works for me and its free so if I can help, then my destiny is fulfilled. Cheers and respect,

The only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume. THE ONLY WAY.
Everything else is just a tool. I am not saying that gastric surgery is bad or that people shouldn't get weight loss injections or even follow someone's book. But you still have to burn more calories than you consume.
This can be done through eating less and moving more. How you eat less and move more is up to you. You have to figure out what works for you so you can maintain that life style. I commend you trying without surgery or drugs to begin with as you will be making changes you will still need to make if you did use them.
Though by March 11th, that might not be long enough to determine if the natural way is working well for you. Good luck with whatever you decide. You will find support, just mention that you need it
