Thanks for setting up March @AlphaHowls!
Yay!!! Super great to see you back @Scott6255! Glad your knee is better! And thanks for all the Strava likes.
Good to hear from you @tarun_yadavA!! OUCH on those blisters!
WOW on your runs today @Teresa502!!
And you @SummerSkier - 2 runs in - great!
Welcome @CaityP27!
@Mari33a glad you saw the doctor and you can continue to run! Hopefully new inserts will help.
Goal of 45 miles for March.
3/1: 4.00 miles
4/45 for March thus far.
I didn’t finish the rest of my runs for February. Got in a bit over 25 miles out of a planned 30.
After my fall my right knee swelled up for several days and I couldn’t bend it. It’s still quite sore and somewhat swollen above the knee cap. Lots of bruising. Also was dealing with my right palm which was deeply scraped and I had to deal with getting an antibiotic to help prevent an infection. It’s still super raw and quite ugly looking because the wound is big and deep, so will take a couple more weeks to heal. Have to keep using petroleum jelly and wrapping it.
Did coach this morning for the 10KTT. Got in the 4 miles as per plan. We got our coaches shirts.
Crazy winds here tonight as a cold front is coming through. Was in the low 70s today and high in the low 40s tomorrow.10 -
All treadmill runs
3/1: 6.0 miles
Total: 6.0/100
I was tempted to skip today's run because I was tired and just didn't feel like it. But I didn't run yesterday and I want to start the month strong, so I talked myself into a 30 minute run. It turned out to be a good run that just felt good so I extended it to 45 minutes. And then to 60 minutes.

@zaxa2021 that is exactly how my mind works. And there is no body involvement at all. LOL. I tell myself just go out and do a 5K when after 10 steps all I want to do is turn around ... then I say well why not do 4. Then of course I can do 5 and why not just an hour? I ended up doing my only ever half one weekend with that sort of mosy along why not thinking. Now unlike others you put a plan in front of my nose and I am liable to not ever get out the door.....9

01.03 stiff 5km walk
02.03 1.7km 12min 6:59/km - just fast
1.72km
It looks like I have one good run, one rubbish run. Today was rubbish: my leg muscles were just so stiff and weak that there was no point in trying to run a bit. So I at least tried to get to 12 minutes.9 -
@daria0919 that coaching shirt is awesome! Glad you are slowly able to get back to it after that nasty fall.
@yirara interesting how you are getting alternate good and bad run days. You did great getting what you could done.
Today was another nice day for running here. I did 2 runs to total 10.19 and went over 454 for the year. Next week is going to be more difficult to get the time to run distances in as I am not taking any vacation days from work.
1 Mar 7.54
2 Mar 10.196 -
Thanks @quilteryoyo
It was another cold & sunny day out there, while watching the world go by from inside, on my comfy treadmill this lunchtime.
01/03 - 5.20K / 3.23 miles Treadmill
02/03 - 8.20K / 5.10 miles Treadmill
Total = 13.40K / 8.33 miles (Goal - 160K / 99.42 miles)
Congrats on talking yourself into it @Zaxa2021!
When my friends ask me how do I motivate myself to run, I always say, 'not motivated, just stubborn, going to do it'7 -
Hi everyone! I got my first run for March in 11.11km
. It was around freezing, but otherwise perfect running conditions. The weather is supposed to warm up a bit this week and there will be sunshine!!! I’m looking forward to it
.
11.11/300 km for March!7 -

Ah yes, it is what it is. I have a congenital muscle condition with muscle tightness as main symptom, and there simply are days where nothing works. Maybe the next run will be better again6 -
March Running Goal: 28 miles
12.4 lbs.weight loss (231.1 lbs -> 218.6 lbs)
I'm Chris; I live in San Diego, California.
I'm keeping the same goal as last month as I ease back into running. Due to injury I bounced off of running in Feb, but I feel pretty good, so we'll see how it goes.
I'm enjoying learning about strength training. It feel nice to actually use the gym I've been paying for for the last two years. After some trial and error (Fitbod, and Alpha Progression) I found a tracker app that works really nicely on my Pixel Watch...."Hevy" It is bone simple and designed to mainly schedule and then track what I'm doing. I kind of hate carrying my phone around (pretty much all the time) when I'm in the gym, so it is great this thing is a functional app on my watch.
I still may get another Garmin so please connect if you have one.
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/profile/chris_in_cal
All of my exercise is on Fitbit now, It's not very social, but connect in if you are ever over there. It isn't obvious, but my username is chris-in-cal or maybe the link will work. https://www.fitbit.com/user/9VWPFN8 -
You did great @daria0919 . You will definitely be seen in that coaches shirt! I either didn't know or forgot that you had fallen. I hope you heal quickly.
Nice run @Zaxa2021 !
Hopefully tomorrow's run will be great @yirara . Great job getting out there and doing what you could.
Great mileage already @SummerSkier !
Nice @John772016 . I agree with you...motivation isn't required.
Nice @Laurz9191 .

March Goal: 125 miles
3/2: 12.04 miles
12.04/125 miles completed for March
I got out and ran 12 miles today. It was a good run.The temperature wasn't too bad, but it was windy so I didn't feel like I could go forever, but I still enjoyed it. It wasn't as bad at the start, but the wind was definitely picking up at the end and it has been howling ever since I got home. And now it is raining a little. So I am sitting on the couch just relaxing.8 -
My March Running Goal is 60 miles. I conquered 6.2 yesterday and I have one half marathon this month.9
-
It’s so good to see everyone off to a good start this month.
Great shirt @daria0919
@Zaxa2021 - good on you for getting out there. And a great result.
I love the fact that good or bad, you get it done anyway @yirara
And you’re right @John772016, it’s not about motivation, it’s all down to discipline.
If you want sunshine @Laurz9191, I’ll give you some, I’m still hanging out for rain!
I’m glad you’ve found a lifting app you like @chris_in_cal, and better still that you’re consistent with your workouts.
I did 7.5k today. A nice easy run, although quite hot. Garmin is being very nice to me at the moment- it says I’ve been productive for the past two weeks, bar one day of maintaining, and it gave me back another VO2 max point this morning (still a long way off where it used to be). But I would expect this while I’m rebuilding fitness. Long may it last.6 -
All Treadmill:
3/1 = 2.3 mi (walk)
3/2 = 2.4 mi (walk)6 -
March total: 5.1/100 miles
YTD: 220 miles
3/2: 5.1 miles
It was a really nice day here. We got the same wind that a lot of you nice folks mentioned. I did my neighborhood trail and got out just in time to still get some shade.
I probably overestimated my mileage goal for the month. I didn't account for spring break and inevitably missing a few runs during that week. We'll see where I end up.
Re: motivation vs discipline. Motivation is nice but discipline carries you when motivation wanes. But I have to admit that a lack of motivation sometimes wins the argument in my head.5 -
All treadmill runs
3/1: 6.0 miles
3/2: 3.1 miles
Total: 9.1/100
Rough run today. I started too fast and burned out quickly. I had to take a short break around the 2 mile mark. I've been working to improve my 5k time. Apparently, I'm not ready for the pace I was trying to do today.
5 -
March 1 – 6.20 + 3.10 + 3.11 miles
March 3 – 5.12
Total – 17.53 miles
Back to winter running this morning. Temp was 23F at 5:00 am. Only 17 days until Spring!
That gash on your hand sounds awful @daria0919. Glad you are taking extra precautions to keep it clean.

Hi everyone! Today was my interval day and it’s actually been fun-ish (big emphasis on the -ish) to do them at the gym, so that’s what I did. I am definitely more focused just on running on the treadmill because once I set the pace I don’t have to think about it - just make sure not to fall off the back end of the treadmill
.
I did 10x 800 meter repeats with 400 meter rest. Add to that a warm-up/ cool down and I was already at half marathon distance. I am definitely starting to feel ready for this marathon. Hopefully I can keep up this momentum for one more month. For my next long run on the treadmill I need to bring spare clothes though, because I was too sweaty to feel comfortable doing any weight training after my run that didn’t involve standing
.
32.3/300km for March.

@Zaxa2021 Nothing wrong with taking a short break to let your body recover! You’ll get to where you want to go with the pace eventually!!!
@ContraryMaryMary I’ll take you up on that sunshine offer. At least for a day or 2! I’m glad your Garmin is being nice to you, motivating even
. Mine is just being “civil” at the moment. No compliments, but holding off on negativity as well.
@kgirlhart Great long run yesterday! Wind is not so fun!

My sense of orientation is generally miserable, and sometimes I just get lost. Apparently I also got lost here and posted in the February thread. Lets try again 🤣
01.03 stiff 5km walk
02.03 1.7km 12min 6:59/km - just fast
03.03 3.4km 25min 7:27/km - 15min fast
5.07km
Yesterday was totally shite and didn't work at all. Today wasn't as good as can be, but much better. Lets see whether the next run is miserable again 🤣2 -
Sounds like you had a nice afternoon yesterday @kgirlhart .
Good to see you back @steviebee888 ! You're doing great. Which HM are you running?
You know you are doing great when Garmin is nice @ContraryMaryMary !
Great run @martaindale . I think lack of motivation wins every once in a while with all of us. As long as the scale tips toward discipline, you're good.
@Zaxa2021 Nothing wrong with taking a short walk break. Next time, maybe it'll be a shorter walk and eventually, you won't have to take that break.
These roller coaster temps are killing me @Teresa502 . You are doing great!
You are doing great @Laurz9191 . You're going to kill your marathon!
hahaha @yirara . I hope you start having more good runs and fewer yucky ones. It's amazing that you still get out and do what you can, regardless.

1 March - Walk 0.75 miles - Ran 4.00 miles Treadmill
2 March - Walk 1.25 miles - Ran 0.00 miles Treadmill
3 March - Walk 1.75 miles - Ran 2.50 miles Treadmill and driveway laps - Gym 25m30s
10.25/80.00 mile goal
I went to the gym early afternoon, after getting my yearly follow up CT scan for my heart/aneurysm. I did 0.25 miles of walking on the treadmill for warm up and then 0.75 miles afterwards for cool down. The workout today was arms: Bench Press max was 55# x 3 reps. I seem to be stuck there. One of these days I'm going to surprise myself and do more. I also did assisted dips, row machine, and chest flies with dumbbells.
After I got home, I went out and did a driveway/road run. I really wasn't feeling it, but once I got going it wasn't too bad. I would have gone further, but had things to do. The run was at an avg pace of 12:29 min/mile. Avg HR was 143 with a max of 161 bpm. Splits were 13:06, 12:34, and 11:05.0
