Hey all, I'm lucy, 51 MtF trans current weight 20st 6lbs (286lbs) would really love to get to 200lbs as I'm being told i need to be under a certain bmi or surgery is a no go. I'm brand new here (2 days) and i would like to connect with people who can help keep me honest and motivated as i tend to get lazy or complacent. feel free to reply here if your happy to keep me on the right path (no I'm not expecting daily messages etc, more like having someone who will understand if I'm having a bad day) edited to add i am UK based

    Hi, Lucy, and welcome!

One option you could consider for support or encouragement would be to join one of the motivation, challenge or accountability groups/threads here in the Community. The greatest concentration of those can be found in one of these two areas:

    https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/motivation-and-support
    https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/challenges

. . . but there are a few others spread around elsewhere. There are quite a range of options with different durations, "subcultures", goals, etc., so maybe there's one or more that would suit you. That's a good way to get acquainted with others, find like-minded people, and possibly create a little bit of a support structure for yourself.

Regardless of what you decide, I'm cheering for you to succeed: Your goals are achievable with patient persistence, and IME the reward is worth the effort!

    Hi Lucy, welcome!

As Ann says, there's some really good groups and challenges, I joined this one a few months ago and it's been great. It's the start of the new month, so the perfect time to join :)

Hi Lucy. Just sending you lots of love 🏳️‍⚧️ Had top surgery late last year as nb and totally rooting for you. I know you want to be at goal weight as quickly as possible, but try to make it as sustainable for you as possible for keeping it up and for the best possible result. I suppose you're on HRT? For changes some calories are needed.

Welcome aboard! The best thing to remember is that you will do better by not aiming to be perfect. There will be days you overeat thay calorie limit or not want to get on that treadmill. This is a marathon and not a sprint. Be good to yourself with grace and kindness and strive to take it one day at a time
