😀🎵 Tracey I love You Tube. I have some favorite singing groups from my college years and I listen to their music and watch videos of their stage performances over and over. I have a huge love of the familiar and this music has done wonders for my mood. Today I am enjoying The Clancy Brothers singing Irish music. Videos are mostly from the 60's They wear the beautiful Irish sweaters with all the fancy cable stitches and I keep thinking I should knit one for myself. Theirs are off white and much more intricate than the one I knitted for myself 20 years ago. When I knitted it, it was too small and it wasn't until I lost 50 pounds that it finally fit well.

Ooh ALLIE, I'm very glad they are keeping an eye on you. 💖 Best place at the moment. I was very surprised they discharged you to be alone. I slept on my mother's floor when she came out after her heart op.
Lisa - I hope you will be coming to Brighton on your travels in 2030. !!!!!! 🤩 We nearly went on a river cruise on the Douro in Portugal, but it was scuppered by covid. The Danube would be fabulous. I've been to Vienna and would love to go back with John this time. I adored the city.
Now for a nap.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Carla I have a friend who has been stamping for over 30 years. She lives in Texas now! I look forward to her Christmas cards every year and have saved many of them and use them throughout my home.
I wrote that message to my friend because she is vulnerable to depression and in her comment I was worried she was spiraling further down.
In my reading I read that deaths in families can trigger PTSD. As an antidote to PTSD,no matter what triggers it, one thing you can do is try to get yourself engaged in something positive each and every day. In doing this a foundation is created to rebuild your life that will pull you forward rather than down. My observation is that this is what those who have suffered trauma do. They create scholarship funds, playgrounds, donate organs etc so something good comes out of their loss. Memorials at funerals are another way to honor a loved one. I had ones at both funerals for my loved ones. The cash I received I used towards the memorials.
Another thing that helped me with my losses is I share something positive on Facebook everyday. It sets my mindset for the day to look for the good in the day rather than the negative. When I come across the negative because I do try to keep myself informed in what is going on in the world it helps me keep things in perspective and I do not let it drag me down.
Yesterday the positive thing I did is I went to a St. Paul Chamber Orchestra concert. Our seats were in the balcony looking down on the conductor. He was such a fun conductor he used exaggerated arm gestures to get the nuisances he wanted form his orchestra. We had a nice long walk to get to the concert day on a crisp sunny day. There is a candy land shop on the way back to the car and I treated myself to a dark chocolate coconut haystack. I do allow myself dark chocolate, and I love coconut too!

Allie: I am thinking about you. So glad you are in the hospital to be monitored. I guess you are wondering if you will need more surgery. I hope not. I hope the bleeding stops. You are back at Yale? That must be an excellent place to be.
Thinking of you,
Rosemarie

Woke up to dealing with family (son) issues this morning, so not much to say just now. So here are a few things to help brighten everyone’s day.
Thought for today:
What animals should you call if you get locked out of your house?
Monkeys! 🙉🙊🙈
Have a great day my Laddies! 🍀

Yesterday was quite stormy, high winds, heavy rain, flooding. Celtic Fiddler concert cancelled, to my relief, didn’t really want to travel even though T would have driven. Power went out for almost 4 hours, came back on just as Joe was getting ready to hook the generator up to the fridge and freezer. Gave me a chance to finish the “We Will Prescribe You a Cat” book that Barbie recommended. A little unsettling due the different culture and style but enjoyed it, thanks Barbie!
Terri ((hugs))
Re congrats for taking off those ten. “… no hardship…” laugh Yup Fred Meyer, it’s the biggest store in town, but pretty $pendy. We all go to Grocery Outlet first. For special occasion meat, there’s McKay’s. That’s it for 30 miles in any direction. I’m a little envious of how many contractors you have to bid. Very different here in the boondocks.
Likewise congrats Machka for that 2-liter pop bottle, must feel good! And “May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows you’re dead. 😆
Rosemarie 3.5 hours strolling with pleasant, knowledgeable people! So happy you found them. ((hugs))
Margaret “grace” beautifully said.
Lanette do you still spin? I’m with you. Well behaved women rarely make history, and aren’t much fun 🤪
Rita ((hugs))
Rebecca “…we can’t choose our grievances, our heartaches… the experience is a gift” Thanks, I needed that.
Barbie, yours to Michele about her grocery store trips for Vince. I feel the same way about wringing out the sponge and wiping down the chopping block after Joe’s cooked.
Michele hooray for the last antibiotic! Know EXACTLY what you mean.😫
Tracey love the pic of you and your youngest’s something blue. I’ve long been homesick for the Northern California of 60 or 60 years ago.
Heather how rewarding for your warm “yes!” Brava!
Carla glad you had such a good time and that the blackout was so short.
Only through pg 21 but the dogs are barking and need to finish laundry so I have something to wear to BB&B and line dancing.
Erin go bragh!🍀
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Carla - sounds like a wonderful time at the convention. I always loved the samples and freebies at those events, way to score! Glad you made it home in one piece, that must have been a scary time.
Lisa - very excited to hear of your cruise plans! Fits right in with the "Good Ship Murder" theme this week, lol. Happy you had time to get away with Corey and plan. Road trips are so good for that.
Heather - also happy to hear about your wonderful outing with John. There's something about being out of the house and spending time together that is joyful.
Margaret - thank you for the wise words. Sounds like you had a great day yesterday. I really need to get that transporter/teleporter back, tho I have a feeling they sold it for scrap since they don't return my calls. Anyhow I'd love to drop in and walk with you.
Terri - ((HUGS))) Thanks for more background on the Good Ship Murder character!
Barbie - wonderful job on those cables, what a gorgeous sweater. Beautiful haircut and beautiful smile. Thank you for showing us!
— One of my favorite parts of the sheep/wool world were the awesome people we met. Spinning guilds, attending fairs/showing sheep. A nice bunch and everyone had great information and things to share. My friend Ingrid and I drove all over Washington and Oregon to deliver/pick up sheep, livestock guardian dogs, you name it. She was a fleece judge and I got to tag along to shows from the San Juan Islands in WA to the Black Sheep Gathering in Albany, OR. She and her DH were a great couple to hang around with, DH enjoyed them a lot - they just lived a few miles down the road from us. We were very lucky. I no longer spin, by the way. After we moved from the farm, my interest fell off and I didn't really have a good place to set up like I did in the farmhouse.
Rebecca - have you ever heard of Graeme Currie from Perth? He used to be a regular on Gin Stephen's FB page before she left and went over to a paid platform. He lost a lot of weight through intermittent fasting and wrote a book "The Fasting Highway" and has a FB page under that name. He has podcasts on Spotify where he interviews folks who have been IF'ing for a while. Fun to hear their stories — they are from all over the world. Even tho I'm not much of an IF'er I listen to it a lot.
Allie - gosh, glad you are back in the hospital where they can keep an eye on you! Crossing fingers it's just regular fatigue and nothing serious. Hope someone can bring you your charger. Sending gentle hugs!
Lanette 😎

Allie - Glad they're keeping you, honey, and checking on everything. Just let us know how you're doing when you can.
Heather - Of course! I adored Brighton - the colors, the lights, the pier, all of it, especially the Victorian sensibility in so much of it. Plus, I'd love to meet you in person, and possibly to meet these grands of yours that I've watched grow up.
I'm inside getting a few more things cleaned up and a script finished, and Corey's out hacking down brush. A bit too warm for me, actually. I'll flag him in another hour, if he's still out there, and get him inside and showered and ready to go to the lawyer's. Then a quick stop for fresh veggies and possibly a pair of shoes for him, and back home for dinner…
Later, my lovelies,
Lisa in AR6 -
Im still waiting on a bed ive been in this room at the medical building since 8:30 this morning.
It is now 3 pm Yale is one of the top teaching hospitals in the country and they have a fantastic reputation. I just hope I dont have any internal bleeding

Allie, keeping you in my thoughts and sending you a gentle hug.
Machka, oh your poor feet! I was close to weeping for you for that long painful walk you had to endure. Congrats on the permanent job!
Heather nice that you were able to get out for a good walk with Johnny.
Lisa your quick getaway sounded lovely, even if you didn’t buy much. The cruise sounds fabulous!
Fell off the tracking wagon this past week and the scale was happy to let me know it, I’m up .8 of a pound this week. Oh well, it happens. Have started tracking again today. I had every intention of going to the gym today, but I’ve been wanting to walk. The weather has not been to my level of comfort for doing that outside and both pairs of gym shoes rub the back of my ankles, very painful. So today I was getting ready to head out the door for the gym and realized what a gorgeous day it was outside! I quickly changed my plans and went for a walk and it was wonderful! There really is something to be said for getting out in nature.
That’s all I’ve got for now. Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the new gals!Evelyn, Vancouver Island

MFP Weekly Check-in for March 17, 2025
RVRita in Roswell NM - Weight down 1.7 this week. All I did was not eat sugar. Easy way to lose weight! If I get a sugar craving, I eat fruit. I will have to monitor my glucose levels now. I know it must be going up because of the last couple of months. Things are more settled now, anxiety more manageable without food. Love to all.
Debbie in Napa Valley CA - Up another .4 this week- 150.8. Really want to get under 150 this week and keep going in that direction. Back to tracking my food. Over 10K every day of the week which gave me 7 of the 5 days for exercise with one day being 24k.
Barbara on the Southern Oregon Coast – Avg WT down a pound to 133.1, avg steps fell more than 1K to 4342, line danced and BB&B once, skipped dog group, too late to tally AF and dogs to powerline 3 of 7, CI and sugar way way over. Wind died down, rain stopped, patches of blue appeared this morning, hallelujah!
Lanette in SW WA State – weight 160#. That’s been my set point, half a pound either way, for the past 3 months. Step average 8394 this week, up a bit from last week. Total activity minutes: 280. Still house walking after nearly every meal, 10-15 minutes at a time, carrying light weights from 2# to 5# each depending on my energy level. I've been a little busier outside between rainstorms..

Up earlier than I wanted to. DH set his alarm for 7:30 but didn't get up until almost 8:30. I would have enjoyed that extra sleep time beings I didn't sleep well last night but, cats hear the alarm and they are ready for breakfast.
Had to take his car to the shop for new shocks.
Took care of the dog, walking him until it started raining.
Did a little shopping of course. Went to Walmart for dog food, found they had their rotisserie chickens marked down again. Bought all 8 they had at $2.02 each. No, not keeping all. Dropped two off with one friend, another one at my zumba friend who lives around the corner from me(walked over so I got a few more steps for that hour). Waiting to hear back from my other zumba friend but I am pretty sure she will want two of them. Boned out the last three and have the bones/trims simmering for broth now.Sliced up the two corned beef I cooked last night, shared some with my friend around the corner.
I will have some after class.
I had a salad with chicken and a little grated cheese for my lunch.
Dh wanted to try a new Asian restaurant but I guess they are closed on Mondays- no hours are posted on the door. Need to look it up.Will go back and walk/feed the dog on my way to class. Son is packing some of his manga books to take over there. They have already picked out a sofa they want to buy. Just need to clean more stuff out over there first. A few dump runs for sure.

Did Jari Love Bootcamp DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do an intense burn DVD
Well, the gal I was to meet said that she got a bad night sleep last night so she canceled. Personally, I can’t help thinking that since she’s a native Floridian, maybe it was too cold for her. I took my sweater out of the trunk and away I went. however, while I was there I saw this guy sitting on what I thought at first was a log. Seems they were doing cancer research and were taking blood and tissue samples from an alligator. Got some great pics. I’ll post them when I get home since I don’t have a cable down here
Vince wanted to go to culvers for lunch, so guess who got to have pork chop (that we were going to have for dinner) for breakfast? At least I got my protein in, so there’s a bright spot. Got a loaf of bread yesterday for him and finally convinced him that he won’t use it today, he has his pizza to finish so he won’t use it tomorrow, then on Wed. why couldn’t he have peanut butter and crackers? So I took the loaf of bread back. Also stopped at Wendy’s to get a few packets of ranch dressing. Vince is out and I really don’t want to buy a full bottle to take home so I just got the packages
I felt my sinuses start to act up last night so I took a decongestant, At least I’m not on those stupid antibiotics any more
Allie – you take care of yourself, you hear? Glad they’re admitting you. Wasn’t your son supposed to be moving in with you?
Took a walk to this “park” I’d found the other day. Vince was a bit concerned since it’s not in a good part of town. I didn’t know this. Well, I checked it out and it’s nothing but ballfields so I came home, called Vince to tell him that he needn’t worry any more and that I’d be walking in the mall across the street. Then I went to the clubhouse to work on the craft.
Rita – very cute memes. Made me think of Rebecca
Allie – I’m so glad you are in such a great place, Especially glad you’re I your room

Heather - I’m so happy for you that you had such a great day. Of course, I read about your excursion yesterday and because you write so well I could feel the happiness coming off the page. It’s good that the feeling is lingering.
Machka - I feel for you with your feet being that painful. It’s so tiring being in pain all the time.
I couldn’t do Toastmasters either. I really should have when I had the opportunity.Carla - I’m so glad you had a wonderful time! I am going to a thing here at the end of May called Great Canadian Scrapbookers Carnival. It is, along with Stampin’ Up demonstrators, many small local scrapbook stores. I’m sure you could Google it. I’ve never been before and am very excited for it.
Lisa - I’m so excited for you, what a grand trip that will be!
It’s nice getting a four day weekend and a sleep in!Barbie - speaking as someone who has never been able to knit a 6” square without gaining and dropping stitches that’s a pretty intricate sweater. I love it. The colour is lovely.
My paternal grandmother and 2 of my Dad’s sisters both made me beautiful sweaters when I was young. I wish I could have one replicated. I wore it so often and when I was expecting that I stretched it all out. The other one I loved we lost in a house fire.
Allie - I’m sorry you’re struggling, but so glad you’re in the hospital. I didn’t like you being alone with no one seeming to help.
Happy Birthday to Carmine. It was an extremely busy day at work. Then to end the day my car wouldn’t start. I ended up starting to walk home because I couldn’t get DH to answer the phone. He finally answered and he came and got me. I was enjoying the walk, but my foot is very achy tonight.

Hello, All!
Sue - 😊
Heather - LOVE Daffodils. I am so glad you got to enjoy a day in the sunshine with your Honey. "Yes" is the answer! I have a friend who spent this evening alone, because he answered with " well, if you wanted to do something for St. Patrick's day…" rather than just saying "yes!" when his children asked if he wanted them to come by for dinner. Very sad. Hope Parents evening is great!
Machka - so sorry about your feet. I think I would pay about any price for better shoes, myself. I don't do pain with grace. I swear… a lot.
Carla - so glad you had fun - and that you got home safely with all your swag!
Lisa - Life without dreams is a sad tale, indeed. You go and have that cruise! I would save with you - but every dime is going into the house for the next little while… Give Egg and extra pet for me!
Barbie - great sweater! I love the color. I always wanted to learn to knit so I could make a sweater that actually FIT me. Most of them are tight around the middle. : / I had the You Tube classic rock selection playing while I worked, today. It's amazing how those old songs can elevate your mood!
Pip - you got this!
Carol - 🤩
Allie - you take care of you… We will still be here when you can charge your phone, again! Your leprechaun is adorable. Glad they finally got you into a room!
Margaret - Dark chocolate is a fabulous treat! It's very good for you! I like the idea of sharing something positive every day - Mindset is very important. I just avoid broadcast news. That generally keeps me in a more positive frame of mind!
Rebecca - Seconded!
Rosemarie - 🤗
Rita - I hope the son problem has a peaceful resolution! ((hugs))
Barbara - “We Will Prescribe You a Cat” sounds like a great prescription to me! I know having a little loving furball always worked wonders for me. Man, I had forgotten all about McKays… I use to buy EVERYTHING at Freddy's - it was the place where you could walk in, grab some yogurt, a sweater, a lamp, some lumber and some paint all in the same store… LOL. Of course, it wasn't quite so posh back then. I know the last time I went to one, it was trending more toward Target with the higher prices to match.
Lanette - Sorry they don't make a more compact spinning wheel! It's always nice to have a hobby where you have friends and gatherings. And getting flagged as "pre-diabetic" is enough to scare me off of the sugars! It IS a great way to lose weight. : ]
Evelyn - Sunshine is the best medicine! And I have heard that walking is better for you than almost anything you can do at the Gym - so, win, win!
Lisa - Love that we have Spring already in the south. I am really enjoying the fact that the house is actually pleasant without the heater running 24/7.
Debbie - I love it when the Rotisserie chicken goes on sale… I always get at least one. I make stock with the bones in my crockpot - which I then use to make soup or sauce. The bigger chunks of chicken I dice up to add to meals or to make the soup. Great job sharing with friends!
Michele - It's always hard to eat properly around someone else's schedule. Good luck and extra will power in your direction.
Terri - Hugs!
Rebecca - 😃
Tracey - glad you got a little walk in before Hubby came for you. : ]
So -
I am here, eating the last couple of bites of my low carb tostada - very filling and more than enough for my one main meal… and only just a bit over 1000 calories - so with my morning protein latte - I am pretty much in line with my new 1500 calorie plan. So long as I can continue to eat like this, I see no difficulties in continuing with this style of eating. The only difference between a standard tostada (for me) and this one? I used an egg wrap instead of a tortilla. It totally worked. Plenty of meat and cheese on there - and some lovely avocado and sour cream. And yes, that is a paper plate. I really don't have time to wash dishes if I don't have to. : ]
The first two contractors came through today - I liked one better than the other - and if I had to choose today, based solely on how we get along - I might choose him. However - there are five others scheduled for the rest of the week - the last two coming next Monday.
7 of the 8 that I contacted through the Thumbtack site were able to read and respond somewhat according to my requests - after the initial automated responses. I am afraid that even if contractor number 8 does respond - they are too late to the party. Seven bids should be sufficient. I will make my choice based on price, AND on who I think I can work with, the best. I am going with the vibe, as much as the price.
So, by next week on Wednesday or so, I should have enough ammunition to make an educated decision about who to use.
Then it's just a matter of when the contractor can start. I have to try hard NOT to think about all the project that will still remain to be completed - sometimes when I walk through the house with my brain turned on I get discouraged…. but, I am hoping that once I get started, the optimism will overtake the worry. I am going to go ahead and start the refinancing process, though - because I don't want to have to wait, later, for money. I don't wait any better than I endure pain!…… Swearing… lots of swearing. : ]
My Nephew is coming down from Portland, OR, next month to put a very large boot to my butt and help me finish the cleanout. It's so easy to get sidetracked with work and just general laziness. If he is coming, I will be motivated to clear a bit more before he arrives and he can assist me with packing things up when he get's here. Plus - once the contractors get going, I will only have so long to get the next section that needs work ready for the next project… I am going to put that boy to work! We had a lovely long chat about it, tonight.
Anyway - my eyes are getting heavy - so I am off to bed, soon.
Goodnight, Fabulous Femmes!

Allie: Glad you got into a room for the evening and last night. I hope you were able to sleep. I certainly hope the bleeding has stopped. Please be careful getting up. You might be weak from the blood loss. Love the pictures of your grandchildren!
Re: So terrific you have a nephew coming to help! Decluttering podcasts are motivating! I know that is strange but they do work! I have a modest little stair project I am trying to have done. It has been 2 months and the supplies have not come..from Indiana????? I think this company is behind in its orders.
Barbie: I love the sweater!
I did Toastmasters for a little bit maybe 20 years ago. Then I realized my area of concern was more with small talk and that my lifestyle did not require presentations. I could understand Machka might need to give presentations. I believe that is a big skill to have….taking data analytics and AI Data and presenting it in human terms to customers and upper management.
I also purchased some Daffodils! They are holding up well! Very pretty!
Also, I am very pleased with my pine straw! Yes, the pine straw! Since the grass in the front lawn is pretty dead..the pine straw helps to provide some definition to the landscaping. When it rains now, my front lawn forms rivets of mud. They are very unsightly. This is all very unexpected ..at least by me it was and I am a little overwhelmed by it. Can't wait for the soil sample to come back from the extension service.
I made a second lasagna which included provolone cheese and sausage. And tomato paste. I left out the Italian seasoning because the first lasagna included too much seasoning I think.
I do sometimes sign up for a body doubling website called ADD Actually. This is reasonably priced. This website has 50 minute body doubling sessions, and then an optional opportunity to chat briefly after. I have enjoyed it over the last several years.
So I have the upcoming trip to the coast, the issues with the lawn, my mother is going to assisted living and I should go see her, and the stair project. So 4 areas that pulling on me! But by July, I think this will all be in the past!
I am driving 2 hours out of town today. I am excited and probably need to sleep a couple of more hours!
Best,
Rosemarie from GA

More about my feet …
I have the least pain when I have rubbed Voltaren into my red, swollen joints (the joints where my big toes attach to my feet) and across the top of my foot near my toes … and I'm sitting in my chair with my heels on my footstool. When I do that, the pain dulls to an ache with the occasional sharp twinge.
My feet are most comfortable when they are bare. No socks, no shoes, nothing touching the front of my feet (especially not the joints where my big toes attach to my feet) … not even sheets, blankets, or my mattress! Heels touching are OK.
Even if socks are slightly too tight, those big toe joints hurt.
And if something has set them off during the day … they hurt with a feeling similar to when someone steps hard on your foot on the bus or when you ram your toes into the leg of the coffee table.
So when I get home from work, the socks and shoes come off and I pad around the house, the deck, a little bit outside etc. in bare feet.
Regarding shoes … when all this started about 22 years ago, I could still wear most of my shoes but I did end up getting rid of most of my highest heels.
When I lost a whole pile of weight 10 years ago, I started wearing high heels again because my feet felt like they had a new lease on life! But that only lasted about a year.
About 7 years ago, I had X-rays and saw a podiatrist and a podiatrist physiotherapist for a while. They gave me exercises (which I still do), they made me orthotics (which I need to find), and they encouraged me to get carbon fibre insoles (which I did and still use - they help a bit).
I've had my gait and footfall recorded. I've had my orthotics changed. And I've been given lifts for some of my shoes (I've also got very low ankle bones so most shoes rub the bones and give me blisters).
But this past year, nothing feels comfortable anymore.
Hoka shoes were one of the recommendations because their "rocker" feature lifts the front of my foot up. So I'm on my third pair of those. They're over $200/pair!
They used to be super comfortable, but in the past year, they're just not anymore.Alegria shoes have also been recommended because of that "rocker" feature and I got these. They are great for my right foot, but they are the offending party in my experience last Wednesday for my left foot. I need to stretch them a little - I have a tennis ball in that left one.
https://www.alegriashoes.com.au/products/joleen-black-nappaI also got these which have been reasonably comfortable walking around the house … at some point, I'll venture outside with them. They are stretchy in front.
https://www.alegriashoes.com.au/products/brenna-oiled-blackI'm also going through all my existing shoes to see how far I can walk in them. So far, none are comfortable for long walks.

Re ~ How many rooms are you redoing? Sounds like a very large task. Your eating plans sound very doable!
Rosemarie ~ Have you ever been to High Falls State Park? It was a big part of my life during my teen years as my cousin and I enjoyed sitting where the water ran over the stones! 😊
My son is having his colon operation this morning! Lots of prep to get ready. Prayers for quick healing will be appreciated.
