Hi all new here

needing help on what you all think is the best and most effective way to lose weight and what everyone does that helps. I heard doing calorie deficit is good but not sure how to start or anything. Any tips or help would be amazing

You have joined mfp. It asks you when you join what your stats are. Height, weight, age, activity level not including exercises. You decide how much you want to lose per week between 0.5 and 2lbs. It then gives a calorie number that if you follow will result in weight loss. You then log your food so you know how much you can eat in a day.
if you start with that, then it should let you know where more specific questions lie. Make changes that you can sustain. You don't have to change/learn everything at once.

The only way to lose is calorie deficit. Everything else is methods to make that easier.
I like intermittent fasting/time-restricted eating. For me, this means eating between 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and having black coffee in the morning. I also track my food to keep within a 500-calorie deficit from my estimated maintenance calories. When you set up MFP, it will figure out what this looks like for you.
Making sure to get lots of protein and fiber also helps me stay full and reduce cravings. And I try to vary my calories up and down within a small range to keep my metabolism guessing.

I recommend before you change anything, get used to logging your eating in MFP.
Put in a week or two, and then look at your numbers- calories, macros. Call this your starting point. What you'll need to do is incrementally decrease calorie totals, and increase quality of food. It can be very overwhelming so make changes gradually, considering the mental bandwidth required on top of managing regular life stuff.
