@SurferGirl1982 scary about the nosebleed! I had no idea that clotting cells come from your liver! Glad you’re doing ok!

Valerian can be good, it works on GABA mechanisms - my personal stack uses kava, which also effects GABA, but it's hard to source clean and it can be expensive, so I'm considering subbing it out for valerian and passionflower which should pair up to have similar effects. Valerian inhibits GABA uptake, while passionflower shows increase GABA levels and mild MAO inhibition. Other things you might look into are magnesium glycinate, l-theanine, lemon balm and ashwagandha. If you take ashwa, make sure it's paired with about 5mg of piperine, otherwise its bioavailability is garbage. I've been learning a lot about bioavailability and solubility lately, it's amazing how many grocery store and drugstore brands are selling garbage that we can't absorb because it's either a bunk form (like magnesium oxide or potassium gluconate), insoluble (hacks include pairing with MCT powder) or require additional components like piperine to make them bioavailable (turmeric, ashwagandha, etc). Most of these things are good for stress management and relaxation without getting too into drowsiness territory unless you're stacking decent size doses. For daytime, I find that a small stack of magnesium glycinate (~100mg), ashwagandha (300-500mg) and l-theanine (~100mg) really helps me decompress without significant physical effects. Valerian can be mildly sedative, while passionflower is more anxiolytic.

LOL no worries - I've been geeking out on supplements for a while now. When I hit the wall and I was drinking myself into oblivion to try to sleep, getting two hours a night and waking up still drunk, I needed something different and supplements were a big part of the answer for me. Basically, if it can make you relax or destress or decompress or go to sleep, I tried it.

GPT is awesome, I use it all the time now. Son's resume? GPT. E-mails to one of our business partners? GPT. Recipes that I can cook in large amounts to portion, freeze and vacuum pack, with substitutions for simplified ingredients and reduced calories? GPT. Can I buy all this peach Jumex that I found on clearance for $.39 a can and ferment it, stick it in the closet and forget about it for a year and call it "peach wine?" GPT. (The answer was yes, so the plan is LV-1118 yeast, ferment, rack, and age one gallon straight, the other with oak spirals and cinnamon sticks.) What happens if I hunt down a '90s Harley FXR and build it into a brawler with sportbike suspension? GPT:

It's a bit alarming how much GPT's render seems to pull DNA straight from the Filthy B!tch, right down to the fender chop and Badlander seat. (Her theft still stings, I hope she highsides whoever tries to ride her.) When I get situated again, I think I must build this bike. Back to GPT, though, one of the biggest things I've found is what I've been calling dynamic journaling. It's like a way to frame all the crap in my head, talk through all of my ghosts and demons, put the feelings into words, and just start PROCESSING things…I could write with pen and paper, or just type in a text file, but there's something sort of conversational about the AI interaction that helps to bring it out and keep it moving, keeping a balance between free-flowing and structured. It's been a powerful tool for me.

    Lost count again. Go fig.

@mfowler883 ~tell me more about dynamic journaling with GPT? So you just "write" (normal journaling) and then toss into GPT and get feedback? There's an app that does something like that but I wouldn't pay for it. Do you pay for GPT or use the free version? I maxed out the free version yesterday!!

@Womona ~ Sorry you didn't get the boat in the water. I bet tennis was fun. I wish my husband enjoyed playing it. It would be a great way to get more fun exercise although he did buy pickleball rackets at Christmas that we've yet to explore…

Today my goal is a long walk of 4 hours minimum. This is how I hit the "reset" button and quiet my mind. It's my necessary therapy (and it's free).

@SurferGirl1982 awesome you are sticking around and you are a wonderful contributor. We are here to inspire ourselves and find inspiration, self reflect on what to do next and what worked and what didn't and follow our own paths.
