LESS Alcohol ~ APRIL 2025 ~ One Day at A Time

@globalhiker great share on replacing a drinking hobby with a healthy hobby! That’s what works for me - here’s my go to: morning gym classes (means no wine the night before); researching something new at night (removes me from the recliner in front of the TV); long walks in nature is life giving to me and creates positive endorphins. And, taking the time to try new recipes (mocktails and meals).
LA friends: curious, what other hobbies/habits are your replacements instead of drinking?

It’s Sunday reset for me too! I like to take this day of the week to reflect and refine my personal goals - usually mental, physical, emotional and spiritual.
Slept another 9.5 hrs for the 2nd night in a row. The jet lag hasn’t been too awful as I’ve been able push through until a 9:30 p.m. bedtime.
Planned 3 AF days in a row and will get back to the gym in the mornings this week.April:

@Michieb125 Beautiful Paris pictures! Just gorgeous!
I started my semaglutide yesterday. Last go round it killed my desire to drink which I am hoping for as well as weight loss. Here we go.

@Michieb125 what beautiful pictures you took of those beautiful places! Just gorgeous. You have a good eye!
@SurferGirl1982 you are full of surprises! I had no idea you were into bodybuilding back in the day! Even if you never get back to that level, it is sooooo important to keep weight training and build up/maintain our strength. Especially after age 50! Without it, we’re on a one way trip to being frail elderly. Once you start with the falls and broken hips, it starts a daisy chain of bad health from which very few recover, according to my husband the actuary.@SunnyDays930 do you take the GLP-1 continually, or monthly doses every few months? I have a relative who just started it, but she says hasn’t lost any weight and hasn’t changed her eating habits. Just curious as to when it starts kicking in. Maybe one brand is more effective than another for a non-diabetic?

Two glasses of alcohol yesterday. One mimosa at brunch-I normally have two. And then one wine with dinner, but honestly I could have lived without it.

@Womona you give yourself weekly injections. They start you on a small dose so it builds up in your system slowly. Otherwise you could get unpleasant intestinal side effects. It will take a while for it to build up in her system. The last time I did this, I lost 7 lbs in the first month which I thought would be more but my dr. said that seemed about right. I am using a brand called Hers, which is available on line. My insurance was not going to cover it and it would have been 1600 a MONTH. This is 1500 for a 6 month supply so it is a lot less. Still expensive but less.

Morning all LA folks -
I create weekly LA targets each Monday. This week is 4 AF days and 7 or less glasses of wine. AF last night after having plenty of French or Italian wines during vacation.
I made a cranberry/sparkling water with lime beverage to have with dinner and then a lavender herbal tea later.
On repeat for tonight after I do a bit of gardening, finish unpacking and take an hour walk in the foothills. So thankful for many things today, and especially that the sun is shining!5 -
Lost count a few days ago, been too tied up with work stuff. I think this is close, I haven't been drinking much, but most nights end with a drink as I unwind.

Greetings All, I just wanted to repost the link for May so you can find it easily.

Started today off with a FIRM No… AF for today. Yesterday was good, Saturday, was less but not LA less :)
I spent way too much time with ChatGPT on Saturday but it was fun. I think I can find some practical uses for it too.
Sunday - I DID go to the gym and got a good work out in, 90 minutes. Came home, showered, vegged a little and then went to spend some time with the grandkids. It was a good day.
@Michieb125 Welcome back and thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures of Paris. I was there in 2012 and I hope to go back one day.
@globalhiker ~ staying busy does help. I'm happy for spring/summer to come and I can replace the lazy on the couch in front of the TV with an outside walk.
@Womona Still, progress is made, and the fact that you could have done without it….
Have a great evening!

April:
AF=10
A=18Just had two days in a row AF so I'm excited about that and will be working to get another two to end out the month.
Sorry I've been absent in discussions this month - the part time job has been way more hours than it should be, but I expect that to start slowing down next month.
@Michieb125 welcome home, and thanks for sharing those beautiful pictures of Paris!
@SurferGirl1982 and @itladyee thank you both for getting the May thread posted and for the links. I'm headed over there now to post so it'll show up in my notifications.

I can't seem to get it together. Today, I'm just doing it. I've been drinking way too much and every day. I do check in here every day. I just don't always post and I clearly don't take any AF advice 🙄
Dance competition was great! Grandson's duet got first place, Granddaughter's group got first place, and their big production that they're in together got first place. Love my kiddos!
A=13/AF=15 I can still come out ahead for April and start off May strong! Doing it!

@Michieb125 love your pictures! Curious to know what delicious wines you tasted in France and which were the best? I'm crazy for European wines in general still, even going on month 9 AF, I dream of fizzy pink French rose and the velvet textured whites. And the aroma.
Back to reality here. Sunday I put on an ultralightweight backpack (I have a cheap Eddie Bauer one that was about $30 and is incredibly comfy on shoulders) filled with stuff so it weights 10 lbs and I put that on and meet my daughter for 2 hr walk #1. After she leaves, I take a 15 min break to have breakfast at home and my walking buddy then arrives and we did 1.5 hrs. All of it is hilly. Walking outside with friends makes it effortless and time flies and that day my Garmin said I had burned just under 800 calories. Just chatting up a storm and laughing. That is how EASY it is. If you don't have a neighbor or friend, look for local walking clubs or meetup.com to find folks. And the backpack is HUGE to help amp the calorie burn. It's shaping the back of my legs big time and my abs are cut.
Oh and I started a new habit! And it's EASY. Every night for 7 minutes while watching TV at night with my husband, I get on the floor and do 5-6 exercises and stretches. Different ones every night. Half of them are with heavy weights, low reps. It's perfect because it's about 1/2 hr after dinner so those calories are feeding my muscles and not my fat. My muscles are deteriorating quickly and the 2x week weight class at the gym is not cutting it at my age.

A - 7Ok, I think this is where I am. Anyone have any idea how to make tab macros for Word forms using content controls?🤦🏻♀️
In other news, does anyone know how absolutely hilarious it is to see two big, buff powerlifting dudes follow around a 2 year old little girl, change diapers, and do everything she wants?🤣 I’m so distracted by them while trying to do my work.

@itladyee I have not made my 4:30 am goal!! Not one time! I forgot I never answered you on that. The second half of this month has been garbage…lol. I got in one workout last week, and I just did one today. I won't need to get up at 4:30 now that some of my bills are paid off and don't have to work quite as much, but I haven't even managed to get up around 6 am. Ugh. I need to kick my own tail in gear!
@Michieb125 Fantastic pictures! I'll bet that was an amazing trip!
@SparkSpringtime69 WTG on the 2 days in a row!
@SurferGirl1982 Get geared up for May! You can do it! and get in those little workouts, too! You'll start to feel so much better!

LOL, @SurferGirl1982 I was talking about macros in Microsoft Word, not food macros. 🤣🤣🤣 But, both types of macros allude me.😉
5 -
@NonnieDoiron ~ I love the visual of the two buff dudes following the 2 year old girl. Gotta love it.
Not sure if the macros question was rhetorical or not but I asked my friend Nova (aka ChatGPT) and this is what I got! I may even just try it!
What You're Trying to Do (In Fancy Words):
✅ You want people to fill out a Word form using Content Controls (like text boxes, dropdowns, date pickers)...
✅ You want a TAB macro that makes sure when they press Tab, it jumps from one content control to the next — cleanly.Normally Word handles tabbing OK, but inside tables or in tricky layouts, it can get wonky. That’s where macros save the day.
Step-by-Step: Creating a "Tab" Macro for Word Forms
Step 1: Set Up Your Content Controls
- Go to the Developer Tab in Word (if you don't see it:
File > Options > Customize Ribbon > Check "Developer" box
). - Insert your Content Controls (e.g., Rich Text Content Control, Plain Text Content Control).
- Name each control!
- Right-click the control > Properties > Set a unique Title or Tag.
(Example: FirstName, LastName, Address, etc.)
- Right-click the control > Properties > Set a unique Title or Tag.
Step 2: Create a Simple Macro
Here's a basic Tab-to-Next-Control macro (you'll love how easy it is):
- Press
Alt + F11
to open VBA Editor. - In the editor:
- Insert > Module.
- Copy and paste this code:
vbaCopyEditSub JumpToNextContentControl() Dim cc As ContentControl Dim i As Integer If Selection.ContentControls.Count > 0 Then Set cc = Selection.ContentControls(1) i = cc.Index If i < ActiveDocument.ContentControls.Count Then ActiveDocument.ContentControls(i + 1).Range.Select Else ' If it's the last control, do nothing or loop back to first ActiveDocument.ContentControls(1).Range.Select End If End IfEnd Sub
Step 3: Assign the Macro to a Keyboard Shortcut (Like "Tab" or "Alt + T")
Important:
You can’t override the real Tab key easily in Word — Microsoft guards it like a dragon guards treasure. 🐉🔥BUT you can:
- Assign it to something close like Alt+T or Ctrl+T:
File > Options > Customize Ribbon > Keyboard Shortcuts (bottom left button)
.- Choose Macros.
- Find
JumpToNextContentControl
. - Assign it to a shortcut key (like
Alt+T
).
Or...
- If you're feeling very fancy later, you can use an AutoHotKey script outside of Word to truly hijack Tab. (Let’s walk before we sprint! 🏃🏻♀️)
Bonus Tip: Even Slicker Macro (Optional Upgrade 🌟)
If you want the macro to skip non-fillable controls (like text labels) and ONLY stop at fields users need to fill, we can level it up later!
Quick Recap
- Insert Content Controls and name them.
- Create a simple VBA macro.
- Assign a keyboard shortcut to run it.
- When you're in a control, hit your shortcut = auto jump to next!
Why This is a Power Move:
- Makes your forms feel professional (no clunky clicking around).
- Saves time and user frustration.
- Makes you look like a straight-up Word wizard. 🧙🏻♀️✨
Would you like me to also show you how to:
- Make it auto-tab when user presses Enter?
- Highlight the next content control automatically?
- Protect the form so users can only tab between controls and can't break your masterpiece?
(Just say the word — or shout it dramatically, whatever fits your mood. 😉)
Ready to take it up a notch? 🎯3 - Go to the Developer Tab in Word (if you don't see it:

@globalhiker ~ I read about adding weights to walks, and I actually have a neighbor that does it.
@chicbuc ~ 4:30 is early. I've been slacking on my 5:30am wake up as well, which is odd, as it's lighter outside so that usually gets me up and going. It's good that yu don't have to do that, though!
@SparkSpringtime69 ~ Kudos on 2, got 2 more :)
@SurferGirl1982 ~ Two day challenge on board…but I posted late, so I'm good with 1 day :)

@SurferGirl1982 ~ I do like the idea of the weighted belt as it's less conspicuous but it is expensive. Here's a weighted vest that starts at $39.00

@itladyee that's a perfect example of where GPT shines - always double check stuff, of course, but I've used GPT to hack spreadsheets, configure VPNs, all sorts of stuff.
Probably gonna be an LA night, but we'll see.

My goal is always to keep cutting back and skip days, so I’m here for Less!
AF counts for April are not nearly as strong as Jan-March when I achieved between 45-60% N.A. I need to keep in mind I have been winning on the less A train for the past two plus years. Life is ever fluctuating here - so glad to be on this mindful LA journey and always learning!
No current family stress and no upcoming vacations = back on track for May to increase N.A. days.7
