@quilteryoyo While you can find authentic Mexican food in TX, the predominant variety is tex-mex, which is 100% it's own thing. It's honestly one of my favorites and often the thing I go for when I am craving comfort food. Warm, cheesy, saucy and served with a side of refried beans and rice. We have tried places that were supposed to be Mexican or tex-mex while traveling and it's not quite the same.

Funny about the nest under the hood. Curious what built it.

    4/5: 4.2 miles

    4/7: 4 miles

    4/10: 5.1 miles

    4/12: 7 miles

    4/13: 3.2 miles

    4/14: 5.1 miles

    4/15: 4 miles

    4/16: 5.1 miles

    4/18: 3.2 miles

    4/19: 9.3 miles

I'm camping at Lake Somerville State Park this weekend. This park is great for trail running. There are 2 units connected by a long multiuse trail that runs along the lake. There are equestrian sites and the long connector trail is an old wagon trail. In smaller parks you really have to be paying attention for all the trail connections but here, once you get away from the camping areas it's a long trail with few offshoots. Less opportunity to get lost.

I used my new trail shoes. They are such an upgrade! I felt a lot more comfortable on loose rocks and sand. I could really tell the rubber was thicker and grippier than my road shoes. I saw several rabbits, some deer, lots of birds, and 1 snake that I didn't get a picture of before he slithered off. Google seems to support it being a broad banded water snake, non venomous, which is good because I almost stepped on him. Just didn't see him tucked in the grass and I was towards the end of my run so I was tired.

After I got back and showered I made a breakfast burrito and coffee and sat outside. It still feels pretty nice with a gentle breeze and some clouds cover. Going to enjoy it for a bit before it gets hot and I need to retreat indoors.

@SummerSkier "what sort of running shoes are you going to go for ? We will require photos."

I'm all alone here having the world's widest foot. I'm trying to discover a new option and may have found one. My last two both work, and there is this third new one so I am still weighting my options.

    • $140 Asics GEL-CUMULUS 27 EXTRA WIDE (my current shoe)
    • $140 New Balance Fresh Foam X 880v15 X-Wide(4E) (my last shoe)
    • $150 Hoka Clifton 10 X-Wide

Then there is always looking around for seconds or last years models to lower the outrageously expensive price for these shoes. (And in the US I expect to see the prices continue to rise…I may buy two if I find a deal)

Last I checked here nobody ran in GEL-CUMULUS or NB 880. Has anyone ran in a Hoka Clifton?

This was either stupid or brilliant. Did sprint intervals, which went… ok-ish. Legs were still tired from yesterday. Right after the run I went upstairs, grabbed my car keys drove to Ikea, and sweaty and all bought a book shelf for my kitchen, drove home, finally drank and ate something. I know if I'd not done this I would have been annoyed about myself for days. But gosh, now I'm exhausted.

I haven't run yet today, but I did get in over 10,000 steps doing my errands today (I was crazy to go into the grocery store but I was desperate for my cheese bagels) and gong to vote (I am Canadian).

I might still try to go out later today. I am off Monday and can always run longer on Monday.

Birthday run today, happy it was a mild day so I could get outside. Was going to run a favourite trail for the first time this year, but found out it was closed, so ended up running through various side paths and eventually up a ski hill to get back to another path and streets.

About 1/2 mile from home at the end of my run, tripped on a curb🤸‍♂️, ripped up my knees and got a cut next to my right eye. Waiting to get some stitches now.🤕🤪

I've used both Hoka Clifton (9's) and Asics Gel Cumulus (25's) @chris_in_cal

Still use the Asics occasionally (they're old), liked them, though now using Novablast more often.

The Hoka Clifton foam gave out when they were still fairly new. Felt like running barefoot on cement. Switched to Hoka Mach 5's and preferred them.

Ok, I decided to build the Ikea shelf tonight even though I'm totally wasted. With two public holidays coming up I thought I'd rather annoy my neighbours with hammering in the evening than on a holiday (I think there are rules on that).

    @John772016 oh no! That’s a rude birthday present 😫😖

Got in 8 this morning and crossed 800 for the year. This is nutz. I was not planning it but I seem to hit a stride about 4 miles in these days. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🤷‍♀️

@yirara good luck building the ikea thing.

Thanks @SummerSkier . I have had mice in the house and taken care of them. And, I've been getting a mouse every once in a while in the garage. If I ever see a "rat," I'll freak. I think it's odd that the nest was there at all since my car is NOT home that much. I don't know when it would have had time to do it.

@martaindale Mexican is one of my comfort food too. I HAVE to get the cheese dip. 😉 Glad you found a nice trail and that you love the trail shoes. Sounds like a great morning.

Great run @yirara . I hope you didn't overdo it. Good luck putting the shelf together.

Sounded like a good run @John772016 until you got to the part where you fell and need stitches! Oooch! I hope, otherwise, you had a Happy Birthday!

You are definitely Beta Howls @SummerSkier ! Amazing mileage for the year!
