    That's really weird.

    FWIW, I went for literal years telling my doctor "I don't want to take a statin, let me try X first" with many different values of X, none of which made much difference.t Eventually I fixed the cholesterol, but for me it was mostly weight loss that did it, I think. That won't work for everyone.

    Occasionally, my total cholesterol still runs a little high, but HDL is quite, quite high and LDL moderate, ratio really good. so my doctor is fine with it.

    I hope you can work your way through this and persuade your doctor you're OK - accurately persuade, of course.

    I hear you on the white coat BP thing - that's happened to me sometimes, too, especially in cases where the office doesn't follow the right process of sitting me down and doing other things before taking the reading in the way they're supposed to, making sure my legs aren't crossed, etc. I always thank them when they follow the whole correct process. It's surprisingly uncommon IME.
