    That's really weird.

    FWIW, I went for literal years telling my doctor "I don't want to take a statin, let me try X first" with many different values of X, none of which made much difference.t Eventually I fixed the cholesterol, but for me it was mostly weight loss that did it, I think. That won't work for everyone.

    Occasionally, my total cholesterol still runs a little high, but HDL is quite, quite high and LDL moderate, ratio really good. so my doctor is fine with it.

    I hope you can work your way through this and persuade your doctor you're OK - accurately persuade, of course.

    I hear you on the white coat BP thing - that's happened to me sometimes, too, especially in cases where the office doesn't follow the right process of sitting me down and doing other things before taking the reading in the way they're supposed to, making sure my legs aren't crossed, etc. I always thank them when they follow the whole correct process. It's surprisingly uncommon IME.

    Less than one pound from my upper weight range now.

    April to October, lost a little over nine pounds. That's good. I didn't suffer a lot, but exercise is still at 80% ish. I don't think the leg will ever be completely okay, and of course all the compensating has shown up as other small pains. I'm super grateful that my injury healed as well as it did and that I appear to have dodged a missile. I'm walking most days for 45 minutes again, still doing the 125-250 stairs daily.

    I'm happy about all of it. In July when my ARNP told me she recommended statins, I stopped buying any sugary treat foods and that has really changed my feelings about hunger and has calmed down a lot of my noticeable inflammation. It also makes it easier to do the Tetris puzzle of macros and micros. I'm hoping all of this helps to keep me healthy in general - and I'm not doing the statin.

    adding…so I can look back at my progress:

    I'm not using the trekking poles hardly ever now. I only take them if I want to do a particularly challenging route with a lot of hills or a longer trail. I'm trying to stay on pavement now! That's a change. It's good for my shoes, too :)

    @cmriverside well done! and I totally get it about the "will never be exactly the same" thing. I have a few parts with the same situtation and we just continue to improve as best we can. time will tell.

    Goodness I feel like I could have written this myself. Just had my last skittles. I am starting to push out of my pants and about ten pounds past when I should have begun making concrete changes.

    I've been doing better. Haven't bought candy or cookies except one time since the first week in July. That has made it a lot easier.
