Should coffee and other drinks count for water

Hey.

Just a thought but i have a hard time hitting my water goal but would not be a problem if i added in my black coffee. Shouldnt water in drinks count towards your water intake goals. And can we hook liquid in the meal diary part to the water oz part? Thx. Awesome app. 1st ever post. Thx

    Yes, I personally think coffee and juice do count toward your daily water intake as I think of it as fluid intake.

    My thoughts-All beverages you drink contribute to your total fluid intake, though they have different hydration qualities:
    • Coffee contains water, though the caffeine has a mild diuretic effect. Despite this, moderate coffee consumption still contributes positively to hydration.
    • Fruit juices are mostly water and contribute significantly to hydration, though they also contain sugars and calories that plain water doesn’t have.

    I've read that any liquid does, including coffee, tea, even gelatin. I count tea in my water intake. Purists may disagree. I have also read that while staying hydrated is essential, there's no real correlation between water intake and weight loss. In other words, weight loss is related to calorie intake and calorie burn, and water, while essential, is not really part of that equation.
