Over 50, over 100lbs to lose, fast 800 keto and alternative thinking 🥰❤️

Hi all, just started a mega journey ( for me ...) Had the most awful 3 years sat studying law from 8am to at least midnight, 7 days a week, EVERY day.
I put on 5 1/2 stone, got really ill, my energy level is rock bottom and am struggling to be able to walking again because of swelling in my knee and ankle BUT, I am and I WILL do this!! 😍🤗👏👏😎
My patience is A1 awful so I've chosen the fast 800 keto.
I live an alternative lifestyle, in a bus, and like cooking but often get so absorbed in what I'm doing I neglect healthy food options for quick easy food fixes.
It seems like I don't eat a lot in quantity but the calories are densely packed and then .... suddenly.....😱😭😭
I would LOVE a little like minded possy so that we can all keep each other on track and support each other 🥰❤️
My poor other half tries but doesn't really truly get it, not does he need to 😊
Much love 🥰😘😘 xxx

here’s some alternative thinking.
Don’t do it.
Your post has alllllll the buzzwords. Keto. Low carb. Intermittent fasting.
How is that alternative thinking?
Keto may work for you (it calls for a huge commitment, and is your partner willing to commit, too? calling @neanderthin , our resident keto “expert”) but doing a “jump start” at ultra low calories seldom works for anyone. It generally causes binge and cut til folks give up because they “can’t do it”. Well, duh, ya think?
I started at 56, obese and sedentary. I never ate less than 1470 calories- and that for only two or three months before my dietician pushed me to increase. And yet I lost quite steadily.Super low calories, jump start, just about the worst plan possible.
Read these boards. The true “alternative” thinking is to go against what diet culture, the magazines and tabloids of our youth, social media etc has taught you to believe.
Research and learn for yourself.
Much success to you- and hope you passed the Bar with flying colors! What a career change at “your age”!
ps you studied law as an adult. I bet people told you you were nuts. But you forged your own way, right?
Apply that same thinking to your weight loss. don’t let anyone tell you “your age” will make loss hard or impossible. I went from a 22 or 24w to a steady size S the past few years in maintenance, starting, like I said, at age 56. Pretty reclusive, if I’d had friends telling me “not possible at your age”, I might have fallen for it. No it’s not. It’s just a matter of eating better and getting off the old butt.

Yeah, Dr. Michael Mosley is an interesting character who actually never got a medical degree and went directly into television, radio journalism, producer, and presenter, working for the BBC from 1985 until his passing in 2024. He's also pioneered the 5:2 intermittent fasting protocol, which is pretty cool, done some documentaries and basically promotes low carb, keto, intermittent fasting and the fast 800. Basically he's a science backed journalist, which I have a lot of respect for and I think he had his heart in the right place.
Now saying that his livelihood is based on exposure for him to charge for conferences, speaking engagements and on his site he had quite the list of supplements, keto drinks, meal replacement and you could engage is weight loss programs, which again is fine but the average is going to be attracted to basically all the popular buzz words and when linked together like, low carb, keto, intermittent fasting and the fast 800, it attracts a lot of attention in peoples algorithms. Unfortunately it's a diet that is a little more nuanced and needs to be understood, which I suspect very few understand properly which generally ends up in failure, but I wish the OP good luck.
This is all doable for very short durations and under strict medical supervision, but that's not what's happening or I presume it isn't, which generally leads to in some cases when people are on medication to really dangerous outcomes.
