Mo I live in Minnesota and I am not planning to sell my house. I am trying to do the repairs needed so I will have many more years here and trying to make it easier for me to maintain and use the space.
Lanatte I laughed when I read you are putting your benches in your will. Yes it is a great gardening tool. You can flip It over and there is a pad which I still have and use it to cushion your knees while working in the garden. There are built in handles to help you get up. I think there are similar pieces out there but not as nice as this one in construction.
I added some more shells from my trips to beaches. Adds to my moment of Zen.
Heather love, love, love those ice cream dishes. Yes I understand the hesitation to add anything at this point in life. They will add to the wonderful memories with your Grandchildren and who ever had them previously created wonderful memories with them too! I am getting more more selective in what I add to but as you can see above I will add pieces if they compliment things I already own and elevate it to another level.

Well, DH flipped completely around yesterday! I went to my. Psychiatrist yesterday and described his sudden anger bursts. She confirmed what I thought, alcoholic dementia getting worse. She told me what kind of meds would help him. But since he won’t go to doctors or therapists, I’ve asked my NP about it. She hasn’t answered yet.
Took a long walk with Lucy this morning. About 1.5 miles. She does really well on a leash and a walk. Another walk on a short leash is coming when I do the reservations. I take her with me to meet people, kids, and other dogs. Hopefully, this habit will lesson her Chiuauha barking tendencies. So far, so good with that!
Not really plans for today. I’m considering a movie and grocery run this afternoon. Not sure I’ll do either, but I need fruit, bananas and berries for breakfast. Maybe a couple of apples for snacks too. They have made a live-action movie of How to Train Your Dragon, I may go see this one! I’ll report on that tomorrow.
Here are some cool birds I saw on yesterday’s walk, called Black-Necked Stilt.
Thought for today:
What did the fish say when he hit the wall?
Dam!
RVRita in Roswell where it is 2 weeks to UFO Festival and 4th of July! 👽🛸🎆🧨

Well I am getting closer to quitting horseback riding. But then I would need another hobby that gets me out of the house to see other people. Maybe I should hang out in a bar?
I am thinking about starting a writing group at the local library. It's sedentary but social and creative. I tried to see what they already have but their event search function is terrible. I would have to go over there to find out.
Then I would have to publicize my email for contact info on a flyer. Hmm. I would give up some privacy.
I'm not sure if this is what I want to do with my time, but I ought to do something.
I took my vitamin D and I feel just a touch jittery, like I should jump up and do something. Except for the boot on my broken foot.
Anyway just my thoughts for today.

Margaret - Loving your beachscape. 🤩 We should do whatever brings us joy. A nice tablescape brings me joy. The paper napkins I bought in the supermarket this morning will be the perfect accompaniment. The girls love my tables and always comment on napkins etc. I believe it's the perfect way to give them an eye for design and colour, in the way my grandmother did for me.
I've been pondering about the big white serving dishes, because I really like them, but they are surplus to requirements. I possibly could use the smaller one for a family buffet lunch - rice salad? Then I remembered that I had a cupboard in the utility room with old homemade jam stacked in it. OH YES! 2014, 2017, etc. I've chucked them all out! The dishes fit in there perfectly. I will revisit what to do with the huge soup tureen another time, but they are both sensibly housed for now. Relief! Everything else can go to the charity shop. I will first look up the price of the Goss china I inherited from my godmother. People used to collect it, but not anymore.
My friend G is currently in the sky on the way to Nice. She got an invitation at our school reunion from an old friend of hers who has moved there. Swimming pool etc. Jealous? Moi? 😯

RIP, Chef Anne.
Margaret, love your beach fun reminder.
Evelyn thanks. Didn’t know medically assisted dying was available in Canada. Food for thought. Prayers for Tracey’s daughter’s friend and family, and for the swift and complete healing of your toes.
Heather the pink clas sundae dishes sound lovely. You’ve purged so much you’re entitled to a tiny indulgence for the girls, think of the memories you’ll make!
Michele so glad Vince decided to be reasonable, to avoid heatstroke, and that the mower is still under warranty! If he’d tried to fix it himself, might have voided it…
Debbie prayers for your mom’s confusion, your sister and her family. Excessive alcohol consumption is one of osteoporosis’ risk factors. (hugs)
Barbie Annie’s rug rearrangements made me smile, your patience with her makes my heart glad.
Tracey I’m with you about physical books vs screens, but then I like to read in the hot tub… ;) Thanks for the clarification of MAID, heart breaking indeed for Lauryn’s friend and family.
Osteoporosis,
Debbie’s Alendronate (generic Fosamax) is what I, like Barbie, was on for years. Then I had to stop it for oral surgery to remove a tooth and prepare for implants. Seems alendronate, while strengthening the bones in your spine and hip, takes a toll on the jawbones. Found a small Canadian study about a combination of supplements having the same maintenance/strengthening effect as alentronate. I’ve been fairly faithful with it ever since. This year’s DEXA scan showed improvement in the hips (to osteopenia) but further deterioration in the lumbar vertebrae. I’m guessing the combination of Better Bones and Balances exercises with the micronutrients were responsible for the hips. Now to research how to give the lumbar spine the same weight bearing exercise. Dr. wants me to get Reclast infusion annually. Cautioned me about the risk of long bone fracture and how many senior women who break long bones die within six months. Back in the day, it was hip fractures and death within a year. I need to do my research to do an adequate risk/benefit assessment. Here’s the link to the COMB study.
A word of caution about calcium supplementation, break it up throughout the day. Body can’t usually absorb the entire 1200-1500 mg recommendation at once, better to take 500 mg with meals.Mfp Manage Cookies buttons not working. Hmpf.
Only part way through pg 20 but the pooches are raising a ruckus.
Later, lighter, lovelies!

The Goss china is worth something, according to Etsy. I have 5 good pieces. I will put them on Facebook Marketplace for £30 and see what offers I get. 😊

😀 There has been a bit of discussion about the cost of eating out. My last restaurant meal was take out Chinese with Jake in December. It cost about $70.00. This morning while walking I heard on a podcast that a woman and her friends went to dinner at The French Laundry, a well known high end restaurant north of San Francisco where they had to pay with a credit card when making the reservation and it cost $437.00 per person.
😀 Annie, I know you're in the boot now so active hobbies aren't on your mind, but you might consider a dance or exercise class or a walking or hiking group. I made a lot of friends and had great social connection in the line dance classes I took for years.
😀 Michele, you mentioned looking like a homeless person in your yardwork clothes and it reminded me that when Annie was younger she grabbed my jacket with her sharp claws and left holes that I mended with duct tape. I still have the jacket and wear it for early morning dog walks. it's just the right weight and very comfortable so I don't want to get rid of it.
😀 Dogs Last night when Annie was lying peacefully on the bed waiting for me to change into night clothes, I remembered that Sasha, the red poodle, when she was about the same age as Annie is now, chewed the wires in our electric blanket rendering it useless. Jake didn't mind because he didn't like electric blankets but I was sad and to learn new ways to stay warm at night.

Well, we took yogi to the river for his final swim. He had a hard night last night. I didn’t fall asleep until midnight. He was standing, pacing and panting. He now won’t go through a doorway even though the screen isnt stopping him from passing through . We are buying him sirloin today and the gut wrenching decision to have him put down. His bump now has a bump. The vet will be coming over on Saturday June 21st at noon, if they have an opening for tomorrow, then it will be tomorrow.

I have no clue how or when I lost my sense of smell. It kind of happened over time, and I just kind of compensated with my taste buds. If I taste something I get the sense of the aroma. I do recall in the 1990's going Renaissance camping and the scent of sandalwood when we used the incense in the tent. Or the scent of the campfire. In the 2000's I used to use Almond oil and I loved the scent of that as my "body splash" after a shower. Maybe it had to do with going thru menopause? My last period was 2018 when we moved up here. And my nose hasn't worked since. No terrible sinus infections. During 2019 I did have one of my parathyroids taken out. I was under anesthesia so who knows?

Heather - Loving the garden, John's got a lovely eye for framing a photo well, and the light is just perfect.
Good news all 'round at the gastroenterologist - I saw his APRN (Advanced practice registered nurse), and seriously fell in love with him, just a sweetheart. I've yet to meet one that I didn't think a lot of… All biopsies were normal, no odd cells in sight anywhere, and the thing that looked like a polyp wasn't a polyp, just a hardened bit of stuff, no worries.
And… they're going to bump me from 150 ml to 360 ml on the Skyrizi to try to get me all the way back to normal. I've been inching my way there these last few months, and they think this might go ahead and push me right back to where we all want me to be. Fingers crossed.
Hope things go that well on Friday with the MRI. It will be what it is… As my cardiologist told me, I could definitely use a couple things breaking my way.
Love y'all,
Later,

got messages from my nephew this morning. He confirmed that my sister does have a L4fracture and she did have a stroke. They want to move her to a rehab place but won't because she doesn't have current insurance. He said they might be contacting me- not sure what I can do to help. I can't afford to pay for a rehab place. Going to mom's isn't the best choice but it may be what has to happen. She lives closer to my sister- I am over an hour and a half away from where she lives. They will not be doing surgery. They feel a back brace will allow her to heal.. She is 61(62 in 3 weeks), was very overweight until gastric bypass surgery- 5' and 380. Lost it very fast, a bit too fast. Aged her so much. Also drinks WAY too much.
edit= wrote that earlier this morning and forgot to post.
Went and got my lab work done, very quick and painless, surprisingly on both time and painfree.
Picked up a bunch of pee pads to use on our old cat. They are supposed to be for people but the lady is a cat lover so gave us extra. Got 60 of the big pads. Then we stopped to see MIL. They put her on oxegen yesterday. She was sleeping peacefully(only time I have seen her look peaceful awake or asleep) so we just let her sleep.Debbie

My sister has two sons. One, who wants nothing what so ever to do with her lives up in Seattle. Her younger son who has contact but isn't close with his mom lives in Michigan. I am getting current updates from him. He did confirm that she did have a stroke. Still in the hospital until they find a place, other than mom's for her but she doesn't have current insurance so they are trying to figure it out.

yes, the reason I pushed to get the test done 2 yrs early( I asked 5 yrs ago but she wouldn't do it)is because both of my parents had osteoporosis and dad's was worse than mom's.
I will have to ask my doctor about that- looking it up on Amazon now

Oh Pip - Poor Yogi, poor you and Kirby. Such a hard thing to go through but I think he has had a very good life with you guys.
Annie - Why do you think you should quit horseback riding? You enjoy it so much. As I understand it you are riding a lesson horse, older and well trained. It doesn't seem as though there is a lot of risk involved and I know from experience there is a lot of weight bearing actvity involved in grooming and saddling a horse, all the stuff you have to do before and after riding.
Kind of cloudy here but pleasant. Horses are out in the pasture. We need to reinforce a section of the fence for the goat pen. Those silly goats have managed 3 or 4 times now to take the gate between them and the dog run off the hangers. They can't go anywhere except into the dog run but they broke down a section of fence there climbing on it to eat off the trees.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA

by any chance did you get Covid around that time? My son lost his sense of smell when he got it and there are still some things he can't smell.

💓 Pip, Yogi, Kirby, My heart is breaking for you.

Pip dear – my heart goes out to you and Kirby. BTDT wayyyyyy too many times
Lisa – what a lovely anniversary gift. So happy for you that the results were good
Lanette – originally we got my car with the backup camera thinking that it’ll help down in FL. What happened is that I find it extremely useful parallel parking. Not that I have to do it much, but when I do I am so thankful for it. Remember all those things from cars. Who remembers your mother’s arm coming in front of you as your seatbelt? I have this man’s tool belt that I wear when we’re outside putting up the Halloween/Christmas decorations. Yes, it really doesn’t fit me. But using a large paperclip, it works for those two times/year. We use a push broom while you use a leaf blower.
Rita – if you see that movie, please let me know. BK is doing a special about that movie
It’s supposed to be 100 degrees tomorrow. Sounds to me like pool time! Next week it’s supposed to be in the 90’s. More pool time
barbara – chef ann passed away??? Is she the one on “worst cooks in america” If so, I always liked her. Now the problem is finding a place that will do the warranty work on the tractor. Murray’s home office suggested two places. One doesn’t do any warranty work for them any more because they never got paid. The other works only on the engine, not the deck.
Seems I’m not the only person who looks homeless in her work clothes!
Allie – so sorry for Doris on the loss of her cat. That was so nice of you to give her a gift
(((Yogi))). Honestly, I feel like I’m losing my right arm, he was such an integral part of this thread
debbie – when I first was diagnosed with osteoporosis, I didn’t know that was what it was but I knew something was not right. The MD kept insisting that they don’t recommend a BDT for someone who hadn’t gone thru menopause. Honestly, I think she finally ordered it just to shut me up. But was she ever surprised that I had osteoporosis! Haven’t gone back to her since.
Jess should be here soon.

Margaret - I lost the pads that go in the garden bench/kneeler ages ago but keep an old towel handy I can fold and place there. I also appreciate how easy it is to get up using it as a kneeler.
Pip - Kirby This is so tough. 😪 Yogi, enjoy your steak. You've been a part of this group for a long time too.
Michele - I used to kneel down and brush the grass off the top of the mower deck. It was a hassle. DH must have whispered in my ear from the great beyond, "use the leaf blower!" Much easier. 😁 I saw a video on YouTube where a guy used a leaf blower to herd his chickens back into their pen and it worked. I nearly used mine a couple days ago when my hens decided they wanted to hang around under that Monkey Puzzle tree and I couldn't get them to go back home. Finally one did and the rest followed.
Also Michele - did Jess get that job she was interested in? You probably said and I skipped over it!
