Idea about what to do with space in the front yard

    I do this here in the UK! My frontage is not as big as yours by a long way, but we have had loads of salads, potatoes, quince, strawberries, carrots and tomatoes. It's great to have fresh food in the garden, but it is a lot of work to get the best out of the crop, and needs a lot of planning ahead! I missed most things this year because I was very busy in the autumn last year and early spring this year, but I managed to get a few things in.

    I put two fruit trees in my front yard. An orange tree and a grapefruit tree.
    It will still be several years until they start to produce but, this will serve two functions:

    A: Fresh fruit

    B: When I am old and retired, I can yell at the neighborhood kids to get off my lawn when they come to steal an orange.
