LESS Alcohol ~ July 2025 ~ One Day at A Time

Working on day 3 AF in July! I fought the wine devil 👿and won! My DH even had drinks yesterday and I declined…now that's progress!
@NonnieDoiron ~ I get the tired but not sleepy. Sometimes (usually when I've been around a lot of people, I get over stimulated and just need to wind down, alone, before I can fall asleep. Cooking is quite a time consuming event, especially when you don't really feel like it. I would have been upset as well and hopefully he can be a bit more mindful, especially with your current stress level. It sounds like you should get a bit of a reprieve at work. I hope it comes and helps! Sounds like a busy weekend on tap, but hopefully it will be fun and not stressful!
@chicbuc ~ Can't wait to hear about the dance competition!! There is something to be said for not drinking and feeling in control!
@SparkSpringtime69 ~ glad you're back. Glad you're enjoying the spreadsheet. It actually is a little motivator for me as I like checking off the boxes….
@LittleSurferGirl7 ~ hope you're doing well.
@globalhiker ~ I understanding feeding the discomfort, but cherries was a wise choice!!! Good to book an appointment to get to the root cause of the swelling and pain!
@Womona ~ you get to check off your AF days! You drink, no check. I'm not sure about "sending to your sheets app", you should be able to just click the link (I'll include again below but I suggest saving it as a book mark so you don't have to go searching) and it open in google sheets (assuming you are using chrome). I'll have to see how it operates with other browsers.
@tmbg1 ~ it's still early, you did great last month and I'm sure you will have a great July as well!
@SparkSpringtime69 @Womona ~ yesterday was an MRI so no real news or change. She's not yet aware of what's going on, yet. Forgive the repetition, but she is mentally disabled, yet highly functional (she lives alone). In my opinion, the hardest thing when you receive a not so fun diagnosis is the waiting to know 1) How bad it is and 2) the next steps. This is the period when time stands stills. So, if I don't get to talk to the doctor, I will tell her just prior to her appointment on Tuesday so she's not in a state turmoil for very long. I honestly don't know how she will react. With her condition, she may take it with a grain of salt or she may put 2 and 2 together (my Mom and older Sister had it) and think it's a death sentence. I just don't know.

July stats (I use Safari, so I didn't know where to find the check mark when I brought up the spreadsheet.) Maybe I'll try again later, but I fear messing it up.😲

Are you using Safari on a Mac, or iPad, or phone?
I just brought it up on my Mac using safari and it looks the same…
You should see a list of names to the left and check boxes to the right.
Let me know what device you're using and I'm try to see what you're seeing.
this is my view via safari on Mac

I highly recommend using Three Spirits Nightcap to make a great evening Mocktail. The only downside is it's ridiculously expensive so I only buy it as a treat.

I fixed it. Someone may have been attempting to update.
All: the sheet is simple, don't worry about messing up….if you break it, I can fix it..🙂

Was planning on AF yesterday.
Patio was finished and DH said, I'm making drinks. So we sat out on our patio (can't put furniture on it yet) and had a couple of cocktails. Nice evening, but no checkmark 😣
@LittleSurferGirl7 mentioned this before and it's true…. Two days off and then have a drink and my body starts to rebel.

Thanks, @itladyee, I think it was me who messed up line 8, I had added my name and then deleted it after I couldn't figure out the check mark. Is it just a click? I'm on a Mac laptop.

I can't believe I'm so skittish when it comes to spread sheets. I think I did it?🤞 Anyway, my stats are here as well:

@LittleSurferGirl7, thanks for the encouragement. I love the roadrunner; wish I could move half that fast. Happy July 4!

Happy 4th everyone! Enjoy the parties and BBQs. Club soda for me today.
My daughter hosted a party and it was fun. Her bar is huge, floor to high ceiling and takes up half her living room and I had fun perusing through the liquor collection. They just seem to collect it, display it, but not drink it. Ha, something that I would never do.
@Womona thanks for the video clip, good one! All my cherries are gone and I am on to Trader Joes dark chocolate peanut butter cups.

Nice job @chicbuc - this is inspiring me to seriously lean into a mostly AF July. I have 3 A days so far and am going to really push myself to stay AF through the rest of the month.

@chicbuc nice work! Plus 4 lbs. of toxins gone! YAY!
No drinks still for me - I'm going dry July also. All I know is today I won't drink and I will eat chocolate chips.

@itladyee Great July numbers so far and good job resisting when your husband was drinking! That's self control! Will continue to pray for peace for you and your sister and your family as you navigate her illness. Sounds like you had a nice evening on the patio.
Dance week was frustrating. IMO, these big competitions are all money. The trophies are handed out to the big studios of 250+ kids and our measly 28 kids get looked over because they want the big studios to come back next year with their money. I could be wrong, but it is what it is. The kids danced beautifully and got a few judges awards and made good memories together, so that's what really counts.
@LittleSurferGirl7 Ma'am…as long as your continuing to try, you will succeed! Good job on your 2 days in June. That means you CAN do it!! Looking forward to your first check mark!
@SparkSpringtime69 Good to see you here and good luck with your goals and getting out of your funk. Glad I can help inspire someone…lol. Seriously, though, good luck. I know how it feels to NOT want to drink and cave every darn time. We're here for you!
@NonnieDoiron Sounds like things will begin to settle down for you at work and hopefully a new doctor can help you get some answers.
@globalhiker Thank you for always bein so encouraging and sharing your journey. You are an inspiration. Good luck with the vascular doc and getting some answers and hopefully some relief. That sounds miserable.
@Womona Happy vacationing, and club soda before sounds like a solid plan before wine. I think planning is a very important key to success!
@nbruns83 Good start to July!
@tmbg1 We see you and your LA days!
If I missed anyone, it's certainly not intentional! You guys motivate me and others more than you know! Thank you!

Quick pop by today to say hi to all my LA friends! I’m back from a trip after seeing my other sister while she was in Lake Tahoe. Such a beautiful place to spend time! We did our sister thing and imbibed too much over a few days while we reminisced about days gone past - good and bad. I didn’t track food or drink which always throws me off. It was wonderful seeing her but time to get back to focusing on my personal wellness goals.
It’s very exciting to see many of you hitting your personal LA goals! Keep up the great work.I leave on a family camp trip this morning and I’m intentionally not taking any wine. We will also have our granddaughter with us. I’m excited for several N.A. days ahead, and welcome it. We will have fun floating, playing games, and getting to bed early. Looking forward to more AF days this week. 🌞
Stay well on the path! See you soon.

Today is the day to reign it back in and remember my goals for the month as they seemed to have slipped my mind!
My goal for July is to be more mindful of my choices and kick the "habit" mode.
Having one glass of wine with a beautiful steak dinner - yes.
Sipping a cold Prosecco on a picnic with friends - yes.
Opening a bottle of wine because I’m bored or anxious - no.
Pouring a glass while meal prepping - no.
Pouring a glass or two out of habit just to sit in front of the TV - no.
Finishing the bottle because it's there - no.Well, now that I've reviewed, I'm not so out of line as I thought. Friday 7/4 was my DIL's birthday. We went to a parade (how nice to have a parade every year on your birthday!! ) and then out to lunch to celebrate. Saturday, we continued to work on the patio and capped the evening with summer beer. So not just habit or fighting boredom…but none the less…looking at LA for July.
Here's my patio: (Still waiting on a few chairs to complete)
The "board" is looking pretty good and does motivate me to get another check mark for today :)@globalhiker ~ interesting your daughter and her liquor collection. When we were looking at houses we visited one where the owners had turned their living room into a wine display/collection, wine refrigerator included! Quite interesting!
@chicbuc ~ you are having an amazing month!! And 4lbs gone too!!! You got this! That's a bummer that the dance week was frustrating for you. As they say, Money is the Root…hopefully the kids still had a good time and felt proud of their accomplishments.
@Michieb125 ~ I haven't been to Lake Tahoe is quite some time! I used to live about 2 hours away from there. Glad you enjoyed your time with your sister.
Keep on pushing everyone!! Have a LA day!!!

I did drink on the 3rd and 4th. I wish I hadn’t drank a whole bottle both times, but I did. I wasn’t planning to drink on the 4th until my daughter-in-law sent my son to get me a bottle without me knowing. It was there, I was tired, so I drank it.
So, I’m 2 and 4. I may not be able to do dry July, but I’m planning to get pretty damn close.7 -

@itladyee the patio looks great! It’s definitely a great place to relax with an icy beverage!
@LittleSurferGirl7 I call everyone ma’am…including my dog 🤣

Trying to relax with my coffee this morning and catch up on the posts.
@Womona why is communicating with husbands something we work on so long? I love the man, but his communication skills suck! LOL Bottom line is I know my husband is a narcissist. There’s not a lot I can do about it. I get frustrated with him, and I try to talk to him. It just doesn’t always work in my favor. We tend to have a cycle… he either says/does something that bothers me, I talk to him, he doesn’t listen, says/does it again, I get petty & b!tchy, I say something that causes him to pause and realize what a douche he’s being, and he cries and apologizes. I know @LittleSurferGirl7 said it sounds abusive, but it’s not. He just doesn’t listen and gets stupid. I don’t get my feelings hurt at all… I just get mad and I retaliate. LOL
@Michieb125 what is it with sisters and over imbibing? My BFF is the closest thing I have to a sister (we claim each other as sisters), and I do the same. If she’s not over imbibing her husband is. Is it a comfort thing?
@LittleSurferGirl7 I was really happy to see that you had 2 days AF! I’m looking forward to seeing 3 AF days from you soon.😉
I’m totally loving the spreadsheet, @itladyee, and your patio is gorgeous. When I read about your sister’s comprehension abilities, I thought of my son. Sometimes he connects the dots and sometimes he doesn’t. Though he says he has autism, he tells everyone he isn’t special needs. When we asked him to stay in school until he is 21, he said he couldn’t because he wasn’t special needs. It’s hard to explain things to him because we never know how he’s going to take it.
@chicbuc congrats on the 4lb weight-loss! Are you exercising too? Or, just not drinking as much?
@globalhiker have you seen the doctor yet about your legs? Any update? That must be really uncomfortable in the heat. We have a pool, but I can’t get in it unless it’s over 90°F because I’ll break out in hives which kind of defeats the purpose of getting in the pool to cool off. By the way, how were the chocolate chips?

Good morning, all
@NonnieDoiron Communication is such a tough skill! It's something we can all work on forever it seems. I know I'm a poor communicator and always have been. I do try to work on it, but it's not easy. I'm glad things are settling down a little and you're at the end of the cycle so to speak.
I did not exercise last week, but I did get in a LOT of steps at competition and I also reduced my carbs WAY down which naturally cuts the calories as well. It's the only thing that seems to work for my body. I figured if I was cutting out the night time wine carbs, I'd go all the way, and I'm down another 2.5 pounds this morning! I've still got 8 pounds to go before I'm even back down to where I was 4 months ago, and that was still 25 pounds over my target weight. I went off the rails a bit. I'm planning to add exercise back in this week. Just trying to figure out my work schedule and when to fit it in.
@LittleSurferGirl7 Glad to hear about your cat! My dog's name is Princess. She's a rescue and that's what she came with, but I don't care for it. I tried to change it to Maggie, but I wasn't consistent, so, it didn't stick. I mostly call her Ma'am or Pretty Girl.
I'm still sticking to my dry July and I feel fantastic. I have a 9 day streak with the last 3 days of June in the mix. I have little temptations here and there, but I work through them and keep on going.
Have a great Monday everyone and I hope you all accomplish whatever goal you have set for yourself!

@chicbuc I live on carbs. So incredibly hard for me to cut them out. It’s harder than wine! 😳
I need to get back on the diet/exercise track though. I got on the scale today and flipped it off. 😡

@NonnieDoiron I’ve flipped off my share of scales 🤣
