It's funny you say that about the loss of weight and muscle mass. He used to say he felt "weak" if he lost weight and was under 200 pounds. ( hes about 204 now). I told him he needs to be under 200 pounds, but should do some light weights at the gym so he doesn't lose muscle or feel weak 💪
I agree the time for him to do it is now. The older we get, it seems the harder it is 🤷♀️

Hello all, please may I join you?
I am 63, started my diet journey when I was in my twenties, and now weigh more than double what I did then.
I weigh 273lbs, and a funny thing about that is when I weighed myself a little while ago I was 304lb, then I decided to start a serious effort to lose weight, joined SW, downloaded a walking app and weighed again - and felt cheated that I am now 273lb :D. I feel cheated from the smugness I could have had at noting that weight loss.! haha. how daft.
🌈What have you accomplished so far in 2025? What are you still hoping to acheive? And where would you like to see yourself in another six months?
I have got this far. I have started again. I want to be fitter and be able to run after my grandchildren in 6 months, or at least walk fast!
🌈Do you have any upcoming plans that you're excited about? Or anything that's maybe a bit worrisome on the horizon?Job is waaaaay stressful and its getting worse. Plus I work till nearly midnight so come home and head for the fridge……
🌈What's something that's fun or silly, a song/quote/story/etc that's made you laugh or kept you going recently?
Just laugh at myself and keep on going
Weekly goal: Get organised, get into this, get going
Milestone goal: I want to look down at the scale and see 250lb…… and not a lb more. Its a start.

weigh-in 7/5: 310.4
Weigh-in 7/12: 308.4 Met my weekly goals—2 pounds down instead of 1 and closed all three move rings five times
7/20 (oops, a day late): 307. 1.4 pounds down and closed those rings 5 times :)
Weekly goals: lose 1 pound, close all three move rings on my watch at least three times
Milestone goal: get into the 200s
Ultimate goal: lose at least 125 pounds so if I need surgery, they won't turn me down for BMI

As usual I went up after I lost big earlier in the week. But I am coming back down again slower so that I am at 242.8 today which is still lower than my usual 243.4. If I eat under 1700 (I range between 1400-1700 generally) I tend to lose. I think the exercise keeps the loss being fat not muscle. I am trying to eat more protein starting in the morning before exercising and throughout the day. That is important for women over 50.
This week I walked for 30 minutes 2 times this week and did strength training 2 times we will go to the pool tomorrow for aquafit. When I walked this week I added intervals (5) of walking faster in with regular walking. This weekend we are preparing for camping next weekend with my side of the family. We can go to aquafit before we leave and we will have a hike the next day. The camp is on Puget Sound so it will be a beach walk. There is a lake to swim in as well. I do not feel as weak as I did a year ago but I still need to get stronger and up my stamina. If I have a car on Tuesday or Thursday I go to the Y for strength training in the mornings. If I don't I have found my cheat sheets I put together during the pandemic for this and have added to it. It usually takes at least 45 minutes.
Tuesday I have the car since I have an appointment later in the day. I will also get the shopping done for the camping trip. I am doing the food planning for that today and for the week on Monday. We try to have a longer walk on Saturdays but not sure if we will get to it with preparing for the camping.
Hope all are having a great July.

Hi!
I'm new here. 44-year-old mother of two adult children. I was just diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and started Ozempic 07/17/25 to help regulate my glucose levels. I have been obese all my life. Had gastric bypass back in 2001 but gained all the weight back within 3 years after having my children.

Start 210 lbs on May 12/25 Going into my 12th week.
Should be at 188 lbs at 187 lbs. (Made an error in calculating where I was last week)
Monday July 7/25 195 lbs
Monday July 14/25 190 lbs
Monday July 21/25 192 lbs
Monday July 28/25 187 lbs
I did a 5 day water fast which is supposed to be good for your body, although I think there is some disagreement. I wouldn't recommend it, unless you work up to it as it is a bit extreme. Benefits are autophagy, reduction of joint inflammation which was preventing me from being active, reset of your system etc etc. I did a deep dive into the research before I tried this. I didn't find it brutal because I had been eating 18 6, so the transition was difficult, but not impossible. Friday was my last day. Saturday and Sunday I ate things that were healthy as I transitioned back to normal eating. Had protein and lots of veggies, yesterday. about 1750 cals. I feel really good and didn't have any bad side effects. I probably wouldn't recommend it, unless you have a good chunk of time where you are not doing anything really taxing. I wasn't busy over the 5 days.
For smoking, I had 2 slips,👍☺️. Want to be completely finished with this, starting today, Monday. This is my main goal for this week 🤞. 6 weeks down. I didn't realize how much it has been ruling my life🚭.
I don't think I would have been able to make all these changes, but it really helps having a group to be motivated by and accountable to, to share this journey. So big thank you to all❤️. Hope you all have an awesome week. 😘😘.

Although I haven't gone lower than on the 22nd I am seeing some low weights since then. I had been staying at 263.4 for the last months in general. I was pleased to see 231.6 this morning. I am really trying hard to get in the 230s very soon. We are prepping for a small camping trip with my family.
@anneliz35 Glad you are focusing on quitting smoking. That is the most important thing for your health. Exercise is next. Losing weight is probably next but sleep is right up there. My husband smoked before we got married. He decided he would smoke one last pack but he never could find it. But true to his word he never smoked again. I think if he were to find that last pack he would have smoked it but he never has. I am so grateful to him for quitting. You are making progress on many levels.
@Sol_de_Quilmes nice to see you join us. Soon there will be a post about next months thread. Hope to see you in the August thread starting soon. You are making great progress. I have 2 grown kids too.

This July was productive. My A1C went down another point—I’ll take that. I think it was all the hummus and veggie wraps that I ate for lunch. The wraps have 15 grams of fiber. This was a pleasant surprise.
I graduated IOP Eating Disorder Clinic and was happy to get a tune-up. I learned more skills and tools and have a stronger foundation than before. I learned that my nutritionist reported that 9% of all people who lose weight keep it off. It will be interesting with my new knowledge about diet culture how it influences my dieting now.
I saw my Sports Med doctor and start physical therapy tomorrow. Nervous yet excited.
I walked today. My hips start to ache after 1.5 miles. No bueno. Hopefully this will improve. I can’t wait to get stronger and be able to walk more.
Thank you everyone for the kind words. It was fun to read everyone’s progress in one way or another.
CupcakeCrusoe-Thank you for the chart.
jenbroussard71-Self-care is imperative when assisting our parents. I hope you find some self-care tools that work for you. I like the butterfly hug on You Tube.
Keri-Your workout routine is inspirational. Great job with consistency!
kristinwoods919-Good job on the weight loss and more steps!
HazelMayes-Proud of you for going to PT. This is a whole new type of exercise. Sorry to hear that sometimes you are in pain.
Kandy_Webster-Welcome! Jump in!
Rorymason-I would like for my A1C be in the normal range. Good luck!
KnittingDragon-Welcome. We would love to have you.
Ready for the heat to start going away, not sure if we will have to wait until September. Walking in 85–90-degree weather to me is not enjoyable. Yuck.
Here is to everyone making your best August. Good luck everyone. Take good care of yourself.
