Good day from Clermont, FL

Hello MFP members, I have been using the app for about two weeks and like what I see so far in terms of information.

I am a 61 y.o. male, 6' 295 lbs, so my goal is to lose a significant amount of weight, goal weight is 220. My problem is I like to eat - anyone else have that in their profile? I had been using Weight Watchers but after speaking with a nutritionist, even though I was eating healthy foods for the most part, WW has quite a few "zero point" foods that you can eat that do not count against your daily point goal, so it gave me, and I believe many others, a false sense of security thinking I could eat as much fruit, chicken, vegetables without penalty, meaning caloric intake. After using MFP and logging my daily intake, I now see the nutritional breakdown of everything I am eating. So now instead of having 6 bananas since they are zero points according to WW, now that I see the calories asociated with them and how they apply to my daily net calorie goal.

I will say that it is a challenge to somehow stay under the 1,730 calories that I am allotted by MFP each day. I am assuming this is based on my age/height/weight and starts off with 2,230 calories and deducts 500 as a daily deficit to get down to my weight goal within a year. Most days I am getting some form of exercise which is added back to the 1,730 as extra calories I can have. But I guess for this to work and to lose the 60-70 lbs that I want to, I need to somehow stay within the 1,730 daily allowance.

Otherwise I love playing golf and am always looking for other guys to play with, so if you are in the Orlando geographical area, reach out if you are looking to play. I played ice hockey for my entire life up to about 6 years ago, so the reason that I am looking to lose so much weight is to lace up the skates again and play in some old man's recreational league.

So what I was hoping would be a quick intro, I see now that I have elaborated a bit so I will save space for others to contribute. Be well.
