Calorie Defecit?

Options

I will be honest, I tried to google my deficit and I chose 1500 as my daily calories.

I saw a dietitian one time and she told me to increase to 1700-1800. I feel like I’m hitting a stall in my weight loss. I’m fluctuating more often and I feel concerned about gaining the weight back. It’s been very hot out and my asthma has been horrible which has made it much harder to take my walks outside.

Is this too small of a defecit? I can’t afford the dietitian anymore so I never got to ask why the change in deficit. It’s a bit hard to put my trust of my weight loss in someone else’s hands. I appreciate any advice!

I’m 5’7” 24 years old 178# down 20 lbs. dietitian advised a health weight would be 140-145#

What calorie goal did MFP give you? If you enter your height, weight, age, and activity level outside of deliberate exercise, it will give you a calorie goal based on whether you want to lose, gain or maintain your weight. With 35 pounds to lose, I would try for 1-1.5 pounds a week until you get within 20 pounds of your goal. Try the recommended amount of calories for 4-6 weeks, and see whether you are losing weight at the anticipated rate.

hi… I hear you… I’m going through the same thing … 5’6” and I’m at 1400 calories/day… scale is moving slowly… are you doing high protein low carb? I love this way of eating… I’ve cut out alcohol… mined you I don’t drink much…

Are you drinking lots of water too?

I agree with spiriteagle99 but also I think your dietician may have taken exercise into consideration when upping your calorie goal. If walking outside was your form of exercise and you were eating the 1700-1800 but aren't walking as much anymore, that could account for the stall.

Were you losing too quickly on 1500? Did you feel starving all the time or was your energy too low? It’s possible that either number is acceptable and will just result in slower / faster loss. Or as someone else stated, dietician may have meant 1700 + a nice long walk which could end up netting about 1500
