🔹THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
🔹REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.
📌Daily weight fluctuations are NORMAL and can be more than 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
📌A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
📌Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
📌The human body does NOT react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
📌Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
📌The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
📌When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
📌Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
Stick with the process. It DOES work! But it does take time, effort, and most of all, patience!

Machka - I had that kind of day yesterday, where I was finishing up that cardigan. Didn't even make the bed! Just the bare minimum, and played with my crochet. It was lovely and peaceful. I have to admit, I was binging Australian Border Security episodes. They're all so lovely and polite and patient while they're talking to people, and yet they stop so much in illegal drugs and other substances getting into the country. Amazing. So glad you were able to get half a day to just dive into a book.
We're watching Australian Border Security too … it's on each Sunday night. 😊
"Other substances" include food. They usually have at least one person on the show trying to come into Australia with a suitcase full of food! As though there's no food in Australia!

Morning, kidlins,
Heather - Glad you got your painting up - I think it looks quite lovely above the cabinet you bought. It brings a sense of movement to the space, which is not that easy to do in a two-dimensional painting. Well done!
Talked to our son last night, bless him… he is so happy. His significant other is gone, hopefully for good. Not a bad parting, according to him. She feels "like her healing journey is done and his is just beginning." Anything I have to say about that would be bleeped out by MFP… the realities of that breakup make me feel quite savage.
Anyway, he's holding an A average at SNHU, an online college, in his Creative Writing degree. He sent me the short story that was his final project for his first writing class. It was good. Not my genre, nor my style, but it was good.
I didn't tell him that he had just moved from trying to follow in his dad's footsteps to trying to follow in mine, but only because he dismissed the comment the first time I told him, and I don't feel like I have to repeat myself. 🤷🏻♀️
He's happy, which is what matters. He still has someone that depends on him - his cat, Mabel - which may not sound like much, but I think it's very good for him. He needs someone who needs him, and if a cat serves that purpose, I'm fine with it.
I find Mabel odd-looking, but I finally realized that's because her pupils always look round and not cat-like at all. Maybe just the angles he gets when he takes pictures of her. 👀😹😉
Anyway…
Not much going on in my part of the world. I know I need to get some exercise today. The vertigo has been keeping me too sedentary.
Hope it is/was/will be a lovely Sunday.
Later, my dears,

Heather - perfect niche for that painting. It all fits together very well and looks great.
Rebecca - Will your oldest and youngest be able to visit you at the same time? And crossing fingers middle son and family can come visit you for a bit.
Ginny - sounds like you're getting to know your way around the new community, happy hour and all. 😉Hope you can find out what's bugging your back. I decided to skip my anti-inflammatory yesterday evening. Slept fine and so far so good today. I'm hoping some of the strengthening exercises I've been doing are helping it repair - or at least keep me moving easily.
Lisa - glad your son is doing well and is happy. That's what counts. Mabel is a beautiful cat, so good he has her.
Barbara - yes, very sad Bob came down with ataxia and has passed away. I still refer to some of the older Bob & Brad videos.
Terri - I always love when you post your monthly reviews, and the reminders are spot on, especially the one that states weight can vary a couple pounds per day for no apparent reason.
Interesting article from Food for the Brain including how processed meats and excess red meat can increase risk of dementia. My DH ate nothing but a hot dog for lunch and Tyson chicken strips with fries for supper most weekdays the last few years of his life. His short term memory loss and general wasting …. causation or correlation with this poor diet? I haven't eaten food from McDonald's for years now, though I've been craving a fish sandwich lately.😁
Is Red Meat Bad for Your Brain?
Remember me mentioning I purchased a sweater from a Facebook ad a few weeks ago that seemed fishy? Order cancellation email bouncing back? Lo and behold, I finally did get an email from from them with a tracking number. The item was on a (slow?) boat coming directly from China. It made it through customs on the 15th and was being transferred to a US carrier - I'm guessing the USPS. So I'm anxious to see what shows up. Perhaps the "Nordstrom Rack" wasn't that far off and this manufacturer sells the identical item to Nordstrom and decided to do their own direct deal and cut out Nordstrom. Stay tuned.
Reminder - tomorrow is Weekly Check-In day for those of you participating.
Make it a super week! 😍

totally understand when you talk about your son's cat.
I really feel that our cats are the only thing that got dh through the past 5 yrs dealing with his mother.
They are the only thing he cares about and they were with him constantly-still are.3 -
Vertigo comes and goes with me, it all takes me by surprise that first swirl! Right now its when I move my head to the left, especially when I turn to sleep on my left side. My neck and skull is sore from last nights swirls. It comes and goes. I think its weather related! Then when I sleep on my right side it triggered acid reflux so last night was alternating between swirls and my throat on fire, good times...🙄😂.
So presently taking 2 fiber gummies at night to get more fiber in. Then a 1/2 square of MiriFAST a gentle daily laxative that seems to make life a bit easier and those herbal peppermint capsules that is supposed to calm your digestive tract down, oh and a melatonin pill. And now going to buy an acid reflux pill. I feel like a walking medicine cabinet!😳

Good Sunday!
The only thing accomplished at work yesterday was waiting on customers and answering questions. On the home front, the hot tub will hopefully be ready for me to use tonight fingers 🤞. PH level is my concern. Added more PH down before heading to the farm in Kentucky.
Got down here and got to work. Weedeated sidewalk edges so DH could use edger. Our renters cut grass and spray fence rows and beds, but this was mine to do. We trimmed up our weeping willow. She is looking great and recovered nicely from ice two winters ago. That led to trimming up another tree. Got external door frames sanded from peeling paint and first coat of new paint on. Finally got a shower at 10pm.
This morning DH said the windows needed washing.....not on my list but okay. He did the outsides. I did the storm doors, doors, and inside. Swept out door jams. Second cost of paint on exterior. Breakfast cooked and cleaned up. Right now waiting on first coat of kilz to dry on ceiling in kitchen. Had an ice dam two years ago, leaked in ceiling of kitchen. I said needed cut out, re insulated, and New drywall. Nope 🙅♀️. Put a coat of paint on it. SMH. Meanwhile DH is trimming up a couple more trees and fixed my antenna. Oh, I cleaned out pantry, freezer, and fridge of outdated stuffs.
DH just said I am probably wasing my time painting ceiling if we need someone to fix it.🤔 Not sure why we need someone.…seems easy to me. Oh well. That one is on him. I have been saying it for a year and a half.
Heather- I love your painting and cabinet. It looks lovely.
Tracey-Sorry your plans changed, but sounds like you will still get to enjoy it. I shop once a week normally, mainly for fresh produce and dairy. Always need 🥚. Some weeks we eat out more than others. Lots of times it is breakfast for dinner.
Lisa- Love the cardigan! I sure hope your vertigo clears up soon.
To all my lovely ladies, keep on keeping on! You are doing wonderfully! You are getting done what needs to be done. You might not think that as you wanted to get something else done, but apparently that wasn't what needed done. You are AWESOME!
Much love,
Kylia currently covered in paint in Kentucky

Debbie- Be very wary of your Moms friend! My spidy senses went off big time reading your post! She wants things from your Mom, trying to get on her good side. Your blt salad sounds so yummy! I woke up to pizza thoughts so might make myself a slice with my crust, tomatoes, olives and RAO sauce, and a slice of havarti cheese.
Lanette- They sounds like gorgeous antique pieces. When you say downsize, you mean to a smaller home, or apartment? Our management company has told us owner wishes to be on month to month lease agreement. That's always a bad sign, he's thinking of selling rental. I guess he's still figuring up his parents estate so he wants to keep his options open. I told husband we aren't moving, a moving company will be moving us! I am just done playing that emotional, back breaking game. So we are putting monies aside just in case.

Kylia ~ Your home looks lovely and I know all y'all's hard work is keeping it that way.
Heather ~ The details of your painting align nicely with the geometric design of the cabinet. It looks really nice in your niche.
Debbie ~ I agree with Rebecca's instinct that this lady is not good news for your mother. It would be a lot like the lady that y'all had such a hard time getting her out of your mom's house.
I also agree with having a cat or dog is a great comfort! Wish I had one!

Thank you everyone for the compliments on my alcove. :-)
Rebecca- I'm sorry to hear you might have to move. That's unsettling for you. 😗 I know you were hoping that your eldest could come back to his part of the house.
I have just heard that my friend G is in A&E , having fallen heavily at home. She thinks she might have broken her arm and is now waiting for an X Ray. If it is, her upcoming holiday in Morocco is very much in doubt. She lives alone on the third floor of a block of flats. No lift. She also has healing fractures in her spine. Osteoporosis from the prednisone she has to take for the terrible bullous pemphigoid. I really hope for the best for her. We are very close.

Did Firm’s Super Body Sculpt DVD then part of the Ultimate Power Yoga DVD today. Then took my walk, then to Aldi and then WalMart. Brought the groceries home, put them away, had breakfast, here, then probably in the pool
M –yes, after what Bryan said to me, I can’t think of anything that Denise can say that would hurt more. She’s already told me that the reason she doesn’t visit us ever is because she’s too anxious. Yes, I know there are anti-anxiety drugs, but it’s her choice not to visit us and not to have PJ ever see his grandparent’s(or aunt’s) home. She wanted us to come up one weekend and then leave after mass. We wouldn’t get home until after midnight! I don’t think she realizes that we’re not exactly close by. she hasn't been here in 7 years and memory fades in that time
When I got back from WalMart I found out there was a chameleon in the house. Yoda took it as his personal “toy”. He’d have it in his mouth, walk around the house, and if someone came near him he would growl. It looks like it went under the bed, and after all the “playing” it’s probably going to die.
Books: unfortunately, Libby doesn’t have all that many ebooks. I’m also registered for the library down in FL. It’s interesting –here in NC I have access to all of the NC libraries (or so I was told), down there I only have access to that county’s. Anyway, my question is: does anyone know any way I can get access to other libraries?
Heather– your picture took my breath away. I’m sorry about your friend. One thing leads to another.
Lanette– can’t wait to find out about the sweater. I can’t remember the last time I had a hot dog, and it’s been years since I’ve had a hamburger. I do have to say, tho, that I’ll have a turkey sandwich. I can’t remember the last time I had bologna but I do have ham, usually the type you make
Rebecca– I’m sorry you might have to move. Let’s hope it doesn’t happen. But it’s good that you’re preparing yourself just in case
J&C are in the pool right now. It’s 90 degrees, just barely refreshing. But J feels it is. Guess we’re all different

Rebecca - It's possible that your landlord wants to take you to month-to-month so he can raise the amount you're paying. In the current market, rentals are going higher and higher. Leases protect the renters from those kind of price hikes.
Hope medications can get and keep Tucker more comfortable…
Heather - Sorry your friend, hope it's not broken!
Love y'all,
Lisa

Wow! I tried to go back 3 pages and there was ..a lot..written. Some of it deep!
Grandmallie: Yes, take your daughter with a big grain of salt. She is the good mother she is today because of your support. And what does she know of your childhood or Vietnam. Maybe she should read The Women. I have been on Wellbutrin for decades..my dose is higher than yours! it is suppose to be weight neutral and can cause raised libido! Sometimes I wake up and think..Wow! I am young! I still have hormones..Then I remember I took the Wellbutrin!
Flea: very nice view at the VRBO.
Machka: Thank you for sharing some of your story. I grew up in a house in the suburbs and from 19 to 38 lived in apartments. Now I have been in this house since. I don't think I ever adjusted back to the house! I need to drive to get anywhere and this is a downfall of this house. And I have never adjusted to air conditioning!
Carol: Happy Belated Birthday. I have my mother in laws, lamp from FLA, her rocking chair which is uncomfortable but pretty and her organ. Sometimes I am amazed I am the one that has these items.
Rebecca: I am so glad your husband is doing well!
Lisa: The sweater is lovely! I have started knitting again! I like my knitting!
Tracey: We are doing The Women in November for book club. I have started the audio. The story moves along and represents various aspects of the history well. Sad.
Kylia: lovely pictures
Well I am trying to pivot into a new life. I am rather stalled right now. But I think it is the heat and doldrums of August in GA. I am ready for Fall!
The cruise situation is interesting: I think we are at 45 days out. The lady I am rooming with doesn't really reach out with any sense of excitement…she doesn't reach out at all. And so I try to maintain a boundary. I ask if she knows other people that are going and she is rather vague about it.
I am prepping myself that I might be alone on the cruise. I feel alone now! I would feel better if I had just done it all on my own. I feel no sense of expectation or control!
The agent says she will have a zoom meeting and then set up a WhatsApp for the group to discuss plans. I did put something on Facebook over the weekend. I simply asked how many hours we would have in Rome. I Hate to stick out by asking questions. The agent has like 6 cruises between now and then my cruise.
I grew a little frustrated. There is nothing to look forward to. Everything is up in the air. I went ahead and booked a tour of the Sistene Chapel in Rome and then for the cruise i booked 6 excursions. The tour and excursions can be canceled.
I changed my flight so I will be going home through Paris. The agent really didn't leave enough time from the boat to the airport in Rome.
I don't see night activities planned too much. The room itself seems nice and has a lovely view!
I read tourists in Italy wear their jeans. I don't wear jeans much because of the GA heat. But I found 12 pairs and tried them all on! Some are over 20 years old! All different sizes! I am decluttering 6 pairs..but keeping the rest…but Why??? At 3 am last night i got up and decided I wanted some wide leg jeans and ordered these at 3 am in the morning!
I cut the lawn and then settled down to watch The Great Courses history of the Roman Empire. I really enjoyed this! I booked a lane at the pool and canceled 3x!. It does take effort to do things alone! Even if you frequently meet people you know once you are out! So I have been in my bathing suit for hours!!

Well, I think I've joined the UTI club. Drat. Hit me this afternoon. I found some Uristat in the back of the cupboard - it's old and expired, but I'm taking it. It's turning my pee orange so something must be working, lol.
I went online to get a doc appointment this week and guess what…. Dr. Lisa has an 8:30 open tomorrow morning. 😁 It's the only open appointment she had this week. Not sure if it's luck or divine providence or what, but I'm happy about that. I could get in to see the 2 other docs later in the day.
In the meantime, drinking plenty of water.

Rosemarie - yea for jeans fitting!
Well, we had a bit of excitement here today, My neighbor found a kitten the other day, Today Jess went outside and the kitten was in the road. Seems the neighbor had it on her porch and was just feeding it. I don't know, to leave it out in 90+ degree heat. She said she looked before going out, it wasn't on the porch, so she left. Vince is going to take it to the vet's office tomorrow a.m to have it scanned for a chip. Honestly, I have a feeling there won't be one. He is going to ask the vet's office if they have someplace they'd take it to, but I don't know. Jess said someone at work would take it. Right now we have it in the bathroom with the doors closed so our cats don't go in there. But at least it's out of the heat, has food and water. No, we can't get another cat. But he is cute (we know it's a he)

Rosemarie- I am proud of you for booking the cruise. That is a big step. You will have an awesome time, I just know it. Just because you have a roommate doesn't mean you are tied at the hip. If she doesn't want to correspond then that is on her. She may regret not answering you when she sees the fun you are having.
Carol- thank you. Those are oir place in Kentucky. I generally find it relaxing, but this was a working trip. Did get lots of things done though. It is about a 2 hour drive. We came home the backwoods. It was pretty and relaxing.
Got back to Ohio watered plants, let cats out, put away Kentucky stuffs, put jackets in washer (they were molding in a closet), cleaned litter boxes, vacuumed, straightened kitchen. PH still high in hot tub, but I don't care.…i am in it as we speak. Probably should get out to cool down before bed.
Much love to you all!

Lanette - Don't take any more of the Uristat, as it makes it hard for them to see what they need to on the urine test. Keep drinking liquids and try to flush it out…

Got an invite from my sister in law to come for lunch. Yesterday was my brother’s bday and a few days before that he found out that he has cancer. It’s in the early stages so it’s treatable. Going to have a cat scan to see if it has spread anywhere else. She asked him whayhe wanted for his bday and he said nothing big, just lunch with his sisters. So we met there and had a nice lunch. Don’t know any details, I’m sure I’ll find out more when they know. I found a picture of us that I really like so I will print it, frame it and give it to him for Christmas. It was taken at the airport. We were living in Washington and were there to run the marathon. I’ll crop it before I print it.11531153

I just took another dose. It should be flushed out by tomorrow morning and I won't take anymore. I do think it's helping though - something is, it seems a little better.. I took a Tylenol too. Seems strange I went off the super anti-inflammatory as of yesterday, mostly because I didn't want it to stress my kidneys and now this. I wonder if it was masking something. I'm making my list of questions for Dr. Lisa.
And it's probably time for me to go back on the estrogen cream. Get things tuned up down there, lol.

Heather - I noticed your painting above your cabinet this morning on IG, it’s beautiful.
Sorry to hear about G. I hope she recovers quickly.Lisa - I really don’t understand why people have to be so unkind to one another.
I hope your son continues with the happiness.Lanette - we have something on a slow boat from China too. Apparently we ya reached shore and is in customs as of Thursday so maybe we’ll see it next week.
Rebecca - hope everything evens out for you soon with your health. I don’t think I ever want to move again I would probably want movers at this stage too.
Rosemarie - I am always worried when I make trip plans with friends. I don’t do it unless I really have to.
I went to visit my friend with the twins today. One has cut two teeth and one is crawling, she also has two teeth just beginning to peek through. They are so sweet.
It’s a short week for me, I’m taking a long weekend this weekend. 5 days.

busy day but it was good. Went to church then after a few hours at home, finishing up the two blouses I made-got them ironed, went out for lunch around 2 with an old friend of dh's who was in town for his class reunion along with his 16yr old daughter. He now lives in NY so we don't get to see him very often..He was one of our groomsmen 33 yrs ago next month. I was hungry as I hadn't eaten anything.
Went for pizza and salad- had a huge salad and two small slices of pizza. The guys just talked and talked. His daughter is sweet and joined in the conversation quite a bit but after a few HOURS of sitting there her and I were both ready to leave. The guys could talk all night. They left at 7 to go back to their hotel. That is all I ate for the day but getting a bit hungry now- may have a little snack
Got home and found the bottom freezer of the kitchen fridge wasn't working right- tossed a bunch of stuff from that freezer along with the freezer part of the garage fridge to condense down. Have a call into the repair man- hoping it is a simple fix. Getting it fixed should be cheaper but more importantly easier so we don't have to move so much stuff to get it out of the house. We(well, ME) will have to move a book case full of kids books and supplies , another shelf with stuff on it and the shoe rack all that are in the hall. Too much stuff in the house. They will be here tomorrow to hopefully fix it7
