Enjoy your break, Tracey! 🤩
G has a broken shoulder, head of the humerus. She is in a sling and will see the fracture clinic next week. She is still talking about going on holiday! 😏 I will ring her today.

Thank you guys so much for the Bob & Brad mention yesterday. I went and looked up their Epley Maneuver, and doing that plus keeping my chin up and looking forward for most of the day after seemed to have done the trick for now. No swirlies when I laid down, and none when I got up. Am putting the video here, Rebecca, if you want to try it. If it's the left that's bothering you, you do all these things the opposite way.
I've always tried the one with my back over a pillow, but over the edge of the bed appears to work better, and for only 15 seconds in each position. I think going through most of the day afterward without moving my chin down in front of me (you can move your eyes and look down, just not dropping your chin) may be the key to making it work. Easy and cheap and not painful at all for me. I didn't need to have someone holding my head, but Lee might be able to help.
Oh. And I'm up early. And feeling better, can you tell?
Later,
Love,

Lisa: You certainly sound perkier 😂 Glad that the vertigo has abated somewhat.
Heather: Not sure if I said how much I liked the alcove with your painting and the new cabinet. I can imagine the beautiful architecture that you enjoy, based on that picture. It’s so elegant, just like you 😂 Sorry about G.
I’m having a me day today. DH has gone out with his birdwatching group. I did one or two small chores then had a manicure, as my nails were catching on the keys on my touchpad.I will go down after I post this, have a leisurely coffee, and get ready for my outing after lunch. I’m looking forward to an afternoon at the seaside with 3 of my art friends. One of them has a caravan at the coast (on the Irish Sea). One of the others is driving (about 10 miles) so I can enjoy the picturesque scenery on the way.
🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

Lisa - I.bought John a neck support from Amazon. Before that he had a towel around his neck. It's truly magic, but I had to do it for him. You are braver!

Books: unfortunately, Libby doesn’t have all that many ebooks. I’m also registered for the library down in FL. It’s interesting –here in NC I have access to all of the NC libraries (or so I was told), down there I only have access to that county’s. Anyway, my question is: does anyone know any way I can get access to other libraries?
I can access all sorts of both reading and audio books via Libby with my Tasmanian Library membership.
But if I wanted to access other libraries, I would have to get a membership with those other libraries.
The key is the library card number.
In order to get the library card, you'll have to go to the website for that library and see what requirements they have in place.
Most of the ones I've looked at require a person to go to a branch in person and provide ID and proof of address before they will give you a library card. The cruise situation is interesting: I think we are at 45 days out. The lady I am rooming with doesn't really reach out with any sense of excitement…she doesn't reach out at all. And so I try to maintain a boundary. I ask if she knows other people that are going and she is rather vague about it.
I am prepping myself that I might be alone on the cruise. I feel alone now! I would feel better if I had just done it all on my own. I feel no sense of expectation or control!
The agent says she will have a zoom meeting and then set up a WhatsApp for the group to discuss plans. I did put something on Facebook over the weekend. I simply asked how many hours we would have in Rome. I Hate to stick out by asking questions. The agent has like 6 cruises between now and then my cruise.
I grew a little frustrated. There is nothing to look forward to. Everything is up in the air. I went ahead and booked a tour of the Sistene Chapel in Rome and then for the cruise i booked 6 excursions. The tour and excursions can be canceled.
I changed my flight so I will be going home through Paris. The agent really didn't leave enough time from the boat to the airport in Rome.
I don't see night activities planned too much. The room itself seems nice and has a lovely view!
I read tourists in Italy wear their jeans. I don't wear jeans much because of the GA heat. But I found 12 pairs and tried them all on! Some are over 20 years old! All different sizes! I am decluttering 6 pairs..but keeping the rest…but Why??? At 3 am last night i got up and decided I wanted some wide leg jeans and ordered these at 3 am in the morning!
Rosemarie — I am never excited about things prior to doing them. You could set up an all-expenses paid year-long round-the-world trip for me, and I'd be carrying on with life as normal. If anything, my stress level might increase.
Once I'm on the way … once I've boarded the plane, started driving, or whatever, then I start feeling excited.
I am very much a question-asker! I always have a million questions about everything … unless I can find out myself online.
Jeans are rarely among my travel items. They're heavy, they take forever to dry, and they can be uncomfortable to walk in. However, if they're somewhat lightweight and stretchy, they can be nice.

Good morning my friends!
It's going to be a long day. Dad's MRI appointment is so early 7:45. Hope we get a nap later. He seems less prone to talk about going walking these days, so I am allowing myself to doze a bit instead of total vigilance. I would still hear the door alarm.
Rebecca glad you are finding that perfect collection of medicines!
Debbie about your friend helping with your mom- help comes with opinions. It's up to you to decide if the combination is worth it. But your mom may be irritated at her loss of capabilities more than the friend helper…also good luck with the freezer repair.
Tracey I have a list of easy meals on the fridge. I use it to make my grocery list, but then also when I'm trying to think of something for dinner.
Heather that alcove looks marvelous! So sorry that G fell.
Lisa glad your son is happy. And Yay for ending the vertigo!
Lanette Dad eats processed food because he has trouble chewing.
Pip so sorry to hear of your brother's cancer! Hope it's not an aggressive sort .
May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Terri - you are so sweet. And thank you to everyone.
I'm at M&S cafe today, enjoying a pot of Earl Grey tea, and my favourite egg sandwiches for a very early lunch. I did get to IKEA and was tempted by a lamp for my cupboard, but I'm still thinking about it. As usual. The queue to pay was huge, so I abandoned my two sachets of sauce and just left. I met a woman on the bus who also thought Monday morning was a good time to go! So did everyone else, it seems. It opened last week in the city centre.
I did get my face on this morning, and accessorised my navy blue with a red cowboy scarf and red earrings. Makes going out fun. I have to get back for the cleaner, but have left John to make his own lunch, and I am just going to pick up a few bits here.
Love Heather xxxxxxxx
P S I did manage to get my phone and tablet scribbles onto my laptop before I left. This is a big thing for me. True.

Hey, kids,
Waved Corey off to work at 5:15, after a bit of kerfuffle when he couldn't find his keys and realized he left them in the truck all weekend. Glad we live in a safe place… 😉
Pip - I'm sorry about your brother's cancer, and hope everybody is on their best behavior during your lunch with him. Love that picture.
Debbie - I think Annie's advice was the best. Help comes with opinions… how much help can you give your mom without actually being there with her?
This is the image on the fridge as it stands right now. Still deciding whether I will keep it or not—but I always do at this stage. Big, small, doesn't matter, I can and have painted over ones that aren't right.
Not fishing for compliments, or saying it's bad (or good), just don't know if I like it yet. I've got more paint to put on it, anyway. And that's not a paint goof, it's reflecting light. I was trying to find an angle where the whole of it would light up well, but needs sunshine.
Looks like totally different colors in person, brighter, shinier.
Anyway…
Lanette - I agree that the Uristat does help how you feel, I've just had so many docs make me go away and come back in 24 hours cause they can't see the white blood cells of an infection through that bright orange dye. Frustrating for both me and the doc, but did keep me from taking a week of antibiotics I didn't need. Admittedly only once. That's when I ended up seeing the GYN and getting on the estradiol cream. Hope it's nothing big.
Heather - Sorry about G's humerus, that's a bad break in a bad place. Just having my rotator cuff ouchy has been a complete PITA. If it's not fragmented, she might be able to dodge getting surgery, though. Hope so.
Been awake for an hour and a half. Might just see if I can snooze for another hour or two. I've got PT this afternoon, and I hate getting there exhausted and cranky.
Later my babies,
Love,
Lisa in AR5 -
Can't really see the painting from that angle, Lisa. Looks nice and bright.
G is at the fracture clinic right now. P has offered to have her stay with them. Not sure G will take her up on that. B suggested a local pampering hotel, which I echoed. She seems to have realised at last that she can't fly to Morocco. She has insurance.
I dodged a bullet this morning. My DSIL texted to ask if she and my lovely brother could stay over this next weekend. Well, I have my son and his partner coming to stay the following weekend, so I didn't feel I could happily manage it. Made me anxious. I texted back, saying just that, so now they may come over on the Saturday, if the traffic is OK, and we can all go out for a sandwich at the local cafe. She also wants to see her niece, who lives nearby. Much, much, better. :-) I really want to see him, but house guests are a lot of stress for me.

😀 I attended an event yesterday afternoon that I haven't attended since before the pandemic. I saw a few people I know and a few I know primarily throught Zoom. It was pleasant, like going back to a familiar place after years away. There was a giant spread of food, but I resisted the natural impulse to eat to cover my uncertainty. I just found a seat and introduced myself to the people around me. I stayed away longer than I had before and Annie hadn't gotten in any trouble while I was gone but she was beside herself with delight to see me and was a giant pest for a long time after I got home. . We'll have to keep practicing. It gives me hope that I'll be able to leave her home in a few months when I have to take the car to be serviced.
😀 Garden continues to grow. So far only enough tomatoes for me. My friend brought another cucumber. Sunflowers are starting to bud. They are taller than me so it's hard to see what's going on with them. There are three pumpkins staring on the vines. I'm glad I kept it simple.
😀 Heather, good for you saying no to your DSIL. I just read an article about saying no and had been thinking about how difficult that can be.
😀 Annie, I remember Jake telling me how he brought his mom's favourite foods to her in the nursing home near the end of her life. Feeding things to your dad that he can enjoy is a good thing.
😀 Rosemarie, you won't be alone on the cruise. Don't rely on your roommate to make things good. Do what you need for preparation and expect that you'll meet friendly people on the cruise. If you're going to make up a story about the cruise, make up a story where things are wonderful. My Sunday walking friend travels alone all the time and has glorious adventures.
😀 One thing that has helped me with decluttering is getting past the perceived value of items that i want to discard. So what if they might have sold for more money. If they are of no value to me, then it's time for them to go.

I went to a memorial service for a son of a friend of DH. I know DH would have wanted to go if he was still living. Service was well done with many tributes. He was 36 and died from a heart issue. He left behind two young children and one on the way. He was a well loved young man who gave as much love as he got. He and his young family live in South Africa. Her parents live there too!
His legacy to me is to love, pray, garden, share music, and embrace creativity.
This is what I wrote to his parents…
See me in each others smile
Hear me when you tell my stories
Feel me when you hug someone
Smell me in your walks through the woods
Taste all the love we share
My heart says I love you Mom and Dad
We love you David
Thank you for sharing your son David

MFP Weekly Check-In 8-18-25
Debbie in Napa Valley, CA - Down 1/2 a pound after going up 2 lbs. I had hoped for better. Was sick most of the week so didn't eat much but still did all my exercise 2 regular Zumba classes, 2 walks around the wetlands and 1 aqua Zumba class- each at least an hour. I will have that same schedule for the next 5 weeks. Will add in an extra walk if my friend wants to start walking again. 6 weeks until the reunion- hope to loose a little by then.
RV Rita in Roswell NM -
This week wasn't as good as last week. MFP says I gained 3 pounds from last week at this time. My numbers show I went down .04 of a pound. IDK. I had a lot of sugar last week. I know what caused it. Most likely water retention.

Sue in WA - Not my best week. I only made it to yoga and water exercise once each. it was a really busy week with church rummage sale and company coming at the end of the week. I am still tired but have today to catch up. The problem is when I am tired I tend to eat calorie laden foods to try to give myself energy. Someplace deep in my brain I know that doesn't really work but I do it anyway so weight is up about a pound. Celebrating DD's birthday on Tuesday. Company leaving on Wednesday so hopefully things will get back on track.
Lanette in SW WA State - Weight slowly coming back down toward my range. Average daily steps 7490 – down from last week. Getting in a 15 minute sunrise walk on my private road or on the treadmill at the gym. Still carrying weights for 10-15 minutes 2 or 3 times a day after meals. Faithfully logging, SWSY going well 3X per week.

Lanette - Did you get in to see the Doc this morning? Been thinking about you...
Kinda hot here ..
4 -
Lisa - yes, saw the doc. Full blown UTI - the Uristat must have helped, the symptoms weren't too bad this morning. Orange dye pretty much flushed out of my system throughout the night so they were able to do the test and will send off for culture. In the meantime I'm on Cephalexin for 7 days. She spoke highly of D-Mannose. I'm kinda wiped out from not getting a lot of sleep going to the tinkletorium and drinking water every hour during the night 😁
Hope to catch up tonight. I can see why older people with UTI's have dementia symptoms… pain, interrupted sleep is not good for our brains hitting on all cylinders.
109F is the temp inside your car? What is it outside? Or is it the outside? Have mercy!
Pip - so sorry to hear about your brother, hope the early treatment is successful. Neat photo of you both, I'm sure he'll be tickled to have it.

Evening ladies
Had a nice day until I looked at Facebook and my daughter had posted things about disengaging with a mom who.doesnt care. Or you don't feel mothered you well.then a grandparent video ,what the matter with grandparents these days that when our kids were little, there grandparents took them for weekends and all and it just like taking a knife and stabbing me.
I would never do anything like that to her or anyone else. Just makes me a sad.
6 -
Grandmallie: I am at a loss for words. I am so very, very sorry. Your daughter doesn't seem very aware of your health. She must be extremely stressed, though her children are perfectly delightful. Sounds like she is at her wits end.
Probably safer to antagonize you than her DH. Any idea who can give her the respite she seems to be craving??
My mother never once had any grandchild overnight. And the only time I slept at my grandparents was when my mother was having another child or my parents were moving to another house. She is lucky your not moving to FLA!
But again she is beyond stressed. She probably should see a counselor. Does she have ADD and is overwhelmed with time management?

Who knows SMiles is a wild 3 1/2 yr.old Delia will be a year old next month, and new baby is due end of January.
Kyles insurance is horrible, so I don't think she will go..
But I will do my best, but the videos and what she said has cut me like a knife

Tomorrow MS is having a donor matching up to $68000.00. So if I get a donation for $25, they will match it and that extra will go on my personal account. They are going to do this until the $68000.00 is reached.
I am also officially over 3000 training miles ahead of the 2nd place person and over7000 miles that I’ve walked, ran and ridden!
I think I can now start to concentrate on running, ugh. I think I’m falling out of love with running.

Debbie - I hope the fridge is an easy and inexpensive fix.
Lisa - that is the Epley maneuver I’ve tried before.
Allie - how disrespectful of Tracy. I don’t know if I wouldn’t go call her out on that right away. There is a lot on Threads and such about today’s grandparents not doing as much. They don’t realize that they are having kids later, we are still working or aren’t as healthy, sometimes have ill parents were taking care of nevermind that none of it is our responsibility anyway. I am so sorry she is treating you this way. You do so much for them and she just abuses you.
I read through but didn’t take a lot of notes tonight.
I was chatting and looking repeatedly on FB for some news in our province. The town I’m from had an 84 year old go missing last Saturday. He was found alive yesterday and is expected to be fine. Sometimes miracles do happen.

Hello, lovely ladies.
Rosemarie, did you enjoy "The Women" by Kristen Hannah, too? That book was deep, and I cried, and I mean boo hood. I had to stop reading it at work because my co-workers laughed at me when I cried over a book. You booked your trip! I am so excited for you!
Tracey, DH was the pastor of Open Door Church for 18 years, but he stepped down. His views are too liberal for the conference. Also, he was tired. He also had a full-time job then. The Church would pay him, and he would sign the check back over to the Church. We agreed that we wanted the money used toward the Church's needs and to support our members.
Lisa is correct with her advice, Lanette ;). Drink Plenty of water to flush your kidneys. Now, about your other parts, weren't you attracting flirtatious men, or was it Carol? I am going to keep my eye on you.;)
Lisa, this exercise thing is like a rollercoaster ride. Something in our body slows us down. See what is going on with your frequent episodes of vertigo. Do you have an ear infection? It could be anything. I was hoping the new medicine they prescribed would help. Did it at least slow it down?
Michelle, Who is Tucker? Maybe when you go out to see your DS, you can take PJ to the park and have ice cream.
Heather, I love your painting and your cabinet. I wanted to order one, but it looks too challenging to put together. The abstract painting that Eddie had done could have been hung at the Art Institute in Chicago. She is pretty talented and intelligent.
Debbie, I have a bad feeling about the friend who is getting close to your mom, too. You may need to accompany your mom to her appointments.
Beth, a Belated Happy Anniversary! How long have you been married?
Flea, I am so glad that you are having a great time.
Annie, it is so great to hear from you regularly. You sound so upbeat.
Kylia, I love those pictures, they are so pretty.
Well, I saw my therapist and told him that I have been spending my money on the kids in the hospital and that I needed to slow down on that. I see so many things they can use.
Well, I'd better go now. I will post tomorrow. Take care, everyone.
XO,
Mo in Mississippi

Grandmallie: Maybe it would be possible to ask AI what community resources are available in your area or online. There might be a Mothers' network available in town. I know my town has several. I see the ladies exercising in the park with their strollers and young children. Also if nothing else a podcast can be helpful. I love a podcast! They are free on Spotify!
4 -
You don't have to help her. She chose to buy 2 of the kids ... she needs to deal with the consequences of that choice.
Tell her ... welcome to 2025. Grandparents have moved with the times and she can't expect help every time she snaps her fingers. Many grandparents still work on into their late 60s and early 70s.
In your case, you're not working because you're not well.
3 -
Machka- My thoughts mirrored. I couldn't always do the whole "grandparents expectation". I work 6 days a week and have a blend DH. My girls finally figured that out. Tracey needs to get a support system as Rosemarie said. I texted my 22yo GD yesterday and told her I needed a GD hug. She was at shop in 10 mins to give me a wonderful hug.
Allie- YOU are number one priority. YOU didn't choose to get ill. Continue to care for yourself.
My morning view
Have a blessed day!
Hoping migraine goes away....too much eating out plus weather changes.
💕💋

Just wanted to add about your comment: "But I will do my best" …
No. You don't have to do your best. You don't have to do anything. It's not your responsibility. At all.
She's a married adult with 4 (3.5?) children. This is what she wanted. You already raised your children. You're done.
If you want to help, that's OK. Just be sure to set some boundaries. 😊
