I’m so sorry Ginny!

Ginny - glad the Vet was open on Saturday and Zombu is no longer suffering. 16. You gave her a wonderful life for many years. (((HUGS))) Glad you didn't hurt yourself when you tripped. You are too busy for that, right? 😀
Pip - Ethel has such intelligent looking eyes and face. Did you and Kirby notice that too? So glad she's fitting right in and responding so quickly to your training.
Rita - Hooray for good news at the kidney doc's. Lucy also has that intelligent face - happy to hear she's doing better at car riding. Love her up/down ears. Rosie's are like that sometimes too.
Lisa - I've been meaning to ask you, where did you get those silk morning glory flowers that look so attractive and real in your hanging baskets?
Carol - Callie was born to run. 😁 Very impressive for a freshman!
Margaret - so happy reading about your progress in getting things accomplished with the homes and you with your diet and wise eating plan. I'd love to zip out in the teleporter and see your lovely garden in person but until then, thank you for sharing the photos!
Barbie - I think I'm up to 8 ripe cherry tomatoes so far. I have one plant with a few Corey-size slicing type tomatoes and another compact plum type called "Little Napoli" that is loaded. Might see some ripe ones in a couple weeks.
Welcome new ladies! Yes, Rebecca gave a great run-down!
Is it just me or does it seem like it should be the first of September already? Apples are dropping several weeks early and berries on the Aronia bush are getting dark already, at least 2 weeks early. They normally taste best after the first frost which is mid-late September. So I wonder if that portends an earlier than normal fall & winter….
And on the topic of weather, the 10 day outlook here shows temps back in the 90's next weekend. 😣 And no rain in sight.

Lanette - each contains two, so I ordered three, and put three total in each basket. I used the same baskets I've tried to plant in other years, with the same coconut liners a I found at Aldi for a couple dollars. Still more satisfying than the live hanging basket plants from Lowes that kicked the bucket!

Ginny so sorry about Zombu!

Today has been a good day. Woke up to 1.8 lbs less. So now 24 lb loss. Crazy how that happens!
Today trying my best to eat and drink all the things I have logged. That's my work.
Hugs ladies!

Ginny – Oh, I’m so very sorry about Zombu. Our furbabies take a special part of our hearts with them.
Pip – looks like you wore Ethel out! You have such a great way of looking at taking care of Kirby. He’s lucky to have you
Got a text from Denise. AGAIN she doesn’t want us to come up. This time the excuse is that they only have their bed and sofa, that there are lots of boxes, but they still haven’t found a home. Something just doesn’t sound right to me. PJ doesn’t have a bed? Why would you box things up before you even found a home? Vince texted her back that she doesn’t put us up, we always stay in a hotel. We buy all our meals. We could watch PJ. This to me is so sad. She can’t make time for one day a year for us?
I made a meatloaf the other day so I made some for J&C. Honestly, I really don’t like this making 4 dishes. Guess it’s just that I’m out of the habit. I used to make 5 dishes. I just need to get back in the habit. Need to talk to them to see what they’d like tomorrow. I’m planning to exercise (Jillian Michaels Full Frontal DVD then part of a beginner yoga DVD), take Ganon for a walk, go to WalMart, then have breakfast.

😥 Ginny, so sorry about Zombu ❤️

kirby didn’t meet her until I brought her home. My feeling for her was dependent on her interaction with me when we met and her demeanor and how she interacted (or not interacted which is a good thing too) with Lucy and Chispa..

So sorry.
But 16 is a long life for a cat and I'm sure she had a good life.

Ginny, I'm so sorry about your cat. It sounds like you made the right decision.
I lost 3 lbs in July. I am now 5 lbs below my lowest weight this century and 70 lbs down from my absolute high when I started this journey around 2010. I had reached my previous low weight back in 2018 and slowly gained back about 20 lbs through the long care-taking days with my father. I have lost that plus another 5. Although technically, I still need to lose a little over 20 lbs to not be in the "overweight" category on the height/weight chart, I am happy where I am. What I eat now does not seem like a diet at all. I will continue doing what I am doing and will take what I lose until I settle into whatever weight my body settles into.
Barbie, your decision to go to the BBQ and eat one hotdog was such a smart one. I remember a very wise nutritionist giving us similar advice in a class I took regarding foods we craved. She would say things like don't keep cases of soda or tubs of ice cream in the house. If you really need/want one and are willing to drive to the store to pay single soda prices or to Dairy Queen for one cone or blizzard, then do it and enjoy it. If you aren't, then you didn't really want it anyway. Don't keep extras at home to make it easy to binge. Just enjoy the one. I don't normally like hotdogs or choose them, but every now and then - one good grilled one is so delicious, especially if there is Cole slaw to go on it.

Ginny - so sorry about Zombu.
Pip - looks like Ethel is fitting right into your family.
Welcome to the newbies.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA

Dr Katie - So well done on the weight loss! Slow and steady is the way to do it.
Ginny - 💔💞 I decided a very, very long time ago that I couldn't take the pain of losing my beloved pets. I don't even have houseplants because I fear the attachment. You made the right choice for Kombu.
I'm feeling weird and transitional. I've never liked August, and there are umpteen things going on in my head. I don't really know what to do with them, so I'm letting them work on themselves in the background. I was awake at 4.15 this morning.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Finished reading another book and went for a walk.
The book was due today (in Libby) so finishing was a bit of a marathon.
Twice a year our council has a hard waste collection. People put the things they don't want on the curb starting 2 or 3 weeks before the collection, and neighbours can pick up bits and pieces if they want. Then the council waste collection comes through and picks up the rest.
So the next hard waste collection starts on August 18th, and hard waste is appearing at the end of people's driveways.
On my walking, I grabbed a free book. I'll walk that way again, and might pick up another. We'll see.
But this time, the hard waste collection corresponds with us starting to clear out our storage shed. We've already got several things that we'll put out … but not quite yet. We'll probably wait till a week before the collection.
I am looking at a lot of things with our age in mind and the question, "Given our age, are we really going to use this?"
- the small surfboard - I rather doubt we'll take up surfing and the surfboard is a bit small for either of us.
- the 17-year-old rubber dinghy - I don't know if it will even hold water now, it's been folded up for at least the last 15 years.
- the downhill skis - neither of us does downhill skiing and we won't likely start now.
And so on.
We've put insulation in the ceiling of our attached garage and, although it has only been one day since it has been finished, it seems slightly warmer and quieter in there. The garage is shaping up to be our gym. We weren't so worried about the cold, but it does get very, very hot in there in the summer. Hopefully this insulation will keep it a more consistently nice temperature for indoor exercise.
Next up, we're getting a quote on having all the windows in our main living area double-glazed to help reduce the need for our split system and to help keep the noise out.
It's not noisy here, but people do let their dogs out to bark for periods of time throughout the day (fortunately not all day like the previous place we lived)
In August, I feel like I've got to hurry up and finish the inside winter projects because spring is knocking on the door.

Thanks for the condolences for Zombu. Looking bak over the past month or so there had been some signs of something off-not jumping up on the bed (she slept there every. night), not eating as much, some strange meowing going on. That said, I don't think her pain was great. Luckily she and Lucy weren't really a mated pair so I think (hope) impact on here will be minimal.
My living room is filled with boxes. Getting ready to load car with some smaller things I can handle. Need to pack dishes and get boxes with pictures upstairs (they are in smaller containers). Throwing my bed linen in wash while the final stuff goes. Office is not cleaned out, but movers aren't taking any of that stuff, except my office chair.
Busy day today!

😀 Michele, When we decided to move to the house we're in now, we started packing immediately including renting a storage unit to put things in to get them out of the way. Jake used all the soft dog toys as padding for fragile objects. One day we noticed that the dogs seemed depressed and unlike their usual happy selves. We figured out that they were wondering about their toys so we took them to Petco to help choose some new toys and they perked up. If your daughter is stressed about the family plans to move, it's no wonder that she doesn't want company. Have you thought about driving up there, getting a motel and calling to say you want to take them out to dinner.
😥 Ginny, we experienced the stress and sadness of losing a precious cat in the midst of our move to the house I'm in now. It was a terrible time. Even when it's time for the cat, it's always too soon for the people.
🐶 Now that I'm finished with breakfast and ready to get up and do something, Annie is lying at my feet guarding the squeaker she just extracted from her newest toy. I don't want to disturb her.
😥 No new tomatoes since the first bunch of red ones, but there are so many green ones that I didn't order any tomatoes in my grocery order trusting that there will be more ripe ones on my plant soon.
🙃 I am a slow learner. After so many mishaps dripping a bit of my chocolate Isagenix shake on my shirt while eating breakfast, I started tucking my napkin at the neckline.
😀 This is a slow time for yard waste so I'm going back to shredding papers now that there's more room in the garbage can.

These are crepe myrtle from the neighbor next door to the home where I grew up. I copied this from Facebook so I can't make it any smaller. I am not sure I would want to they are so glorious! I became Facebook friends with her after one of my visits to St. Louis! I don't grow crepe myrtle here because I am too far North!
It made my day to see these!

Hey, kids…
Just dropping by to say "Hi," Corey's up and he's in the sunroom with his coffee and most recent book. It's beautiful today, enjoying it while he can, and then the heat will sink back in by the end of the week. I've got windows open all through the house…
Kay - Congrats on hitting that milestone in weight lost! I'm at that place now where I'm letting my body make the decision, just trying not to go too wildly off the track, and it's a wonderful place to be, mentally. Clears a lot of emotional baggage. It really helped to move from a digital scale to a dial scale. Especially since without my glasses I can barely see the numbers on the dial. I just know if I'm close to where I was last time, but can't sweat every ounce. I only put my glasses on on Monday mornings…👀👓😜😂
Machka - Well done on clearing so much. Sounds like a lovely way to keep from having to take things elsewhere to donate.
Allie - You really love your brother, don't you. I'm glad you get time with him without Jean now, I'm sure you enjoy it.
Margaret - I LOVE crepe myrtles. The barbarians who lived in the little house chopped down a few that were seriously 40 feet high, with massive blooms each summer, and just gorgeous. They cut them right down to three-foot stumps. They've sprouted back up around the stumps and hopefully we can save them.
Well, when I started this, Corey was sitting down, but he just headed outside to get the mowing done. I did a bit of mowing yesterday early to get the very steep bits cleaned up, and then stopped for the day. After he's done mowing, I'll get a little water on the bits that need it, the flowers and his garden.
Overall, though, a lovely quiet Sunday, editing all morning and about to get some more writing done while he's outside. The vertigo is still there around the edges, never really goes away. 😐 I need to go do the Epley maneuver again, but the last one made me horribly nauseous. Just need to put my big-girl drawers on and do it anyway.
Hope your Sunday is or was quiet and peaceful or productive if need be.
Love from Arkansas,

Pip, my husband used to drink Coors so I showed him the picture of Ethel in the stroller. The first thing he said is "boy! that dog sure drinks a lot! and where is the beer's cooling blanket!" lol😁
Ginny, our fur babies never live as long as we would like. No matter their age, it seems it is too soon. So sorry.
Slept too late yesterday. I didn't have time to post the thought for today, so 2 for you today!
Thought for Today:
In Korea, a man always avoided military service by failing his health test…
Since he was in perfect health, the official in charge of conscription asked him how he avoided military service.
The man replied, “Why, I don’t know. I always bet the doctor $500 that I’ll pass this year, but he always fails me for some reason…”

Ginny, so sorry about your Zombu. Hard decision to make, but definitely the right one. Even tho your other cat wasn’t mated with Zombu, you may notice some depressin type symptoms, although with your big move coming up she may just be too busy exploring her new digs! Exciting times ahead for both of you!

Belated thanks dear Barbie. Your consistency is inspiring!
Belated welcome @VelvetHeart67 Sandy in TX and @Kellhark72 Kelli in Mo !
Debbie thankful your sis is in the hospital, that care home’s neglect is shameful.
Ginny tripping and falling can be such a shock. ((hugs))
Heather I don’t think there’s anything wrong with talking to Allan in your mind. We all grieve our own ways.
Rita that’s the first time I’ve heard of a Dr. suggesting cutting back on water consumption… and in the desert too?!?
Lisa well done in July! Love the Egg pat-a-cake pic.
Margaret grateful your handyman alerted you to that wasps nest. Nasty, vicious bugs.
Pip Ethel looks to be a champion!
Evelyn always good to see you pop in!
Tina well over $5/gal, yikes! However did you get so many blue sky pics in Ireland?
Annie twice now I’ve almost forgotten to pull on underpants before jeans, made me think of your dad (blush).
Lanette that “,,,sloppy drinker goes way down to the bottom of my list” sounds like a very sensible boundary, no matter how sorry you feel for his double grief.
Only through pg 1 but time to get moving!

Well yesterday though I ate well, it wasn't really enough. I will try a bit better today. I did lose another lb, but I think that was just from the low calorie day yesterday. Down 25 lbs.
"Life doesn't require that we be the best, only that we try our best"
So my best yesterday was a lean calorie day. Today is chicken themed! Chicken nuggets and raw veggie for lunch, and rotisserie chicken 4 oz with wild rice, and fresh spinach for dinner. Banana and prunes for breakfast.
For accountability:
I do like my minty, peachy, lemon and honey tea a day!

I was looking for is a challenge and I found one! My name is Neacie and I'm trying to get into shape for the first time in 20 years! Right now I can hardly walk for 10 minutes at a time due to hip pain. I'm not giving up this time. I will be doing stretches and walking a little bit every day!

I am 60, have severe arthritis in both hips and other issues, but I can relate. Been a member for a year, but had no idea there was support like this until I logged into the app on my computer. Have only ever been in MFP to log food. 🤣
