I just wrote a long posts in my Word document and then hit the delete button by mistake.
Anyway
- Flea's weekend away sounds lovely.
- Heather enjoyed seeing her granddaughters perform. Bea will be a star some day.
- Beth's son's continued work on getting healthy and encouraging you and DH to follow. What did you decided to do about the sagging mattress?
After last week's heat wave (high 90's) the weather has changed and it is actually chilly!

Oikos protein yogurt 140 calories, 20 grams protein, 3 grams sugar, and 3 grams fat. The nice thing is its really creamy, and doesn't have the watery top like some Greek yogurts.

she probably would. We walk them early enough that the pavement isn’t that hot yet. That is also why we brought the buggy

Kylia in Ohio - Weight still bouncing between 140-141. So plateaued there which is better than going up. Now to get going the other direction while enjoying life. So thankful for this lovely group of ladies!
Rita in Roswell, NM –
MFP says I'm up a pound but my math shows me 1.48 pounds down. Either way, not bad. Lost 4 pounds in July. A pound a week, I think that is great!

Sue in WA - Not a bad week overall. I am down to 231.5, so down 0.5 pounds. I concentrated more on lunches and coming up with a plan to limit choices and let my breakfasts slide just a bit. Also ate a sweet snack after dinner 2 nights this week. However the lunch thing is coming along, needs some more tweaking though. Exercise this week also was down a bit due to an appointment and class cancellation. I am going to try this week going to a different YM located a litte farther from me but offering the classes I want, both on Tuesday and Thursday.
Lanette in SW WA State - Weight 3 pounds over desired range. Average daily steps 7480 – down from last week. Getting in a 15 minute sunrise walks on my private road most days. Still carrying weights for 10-15 minutes 2 or 3 times a day after meals. Back to the gym this past week for treadmill and some suitcase carries. Started back on SWSY. Getting plenty of Farmer's Carries with watering cans!

John got the antibiotics for me, while I prepped the duck and accompaniments. I feel a bit better already, but will have to take the second dose around 4.30 am. I'm often awake then.
Yes, Lisa, you could be right. I put it down to a sleepless night, worrying about old age, but I had horrible lymphodema and a headache. Not drinking enough water in a stressful situation is deadly for me. The girls were just the injection of energy, brightness, and optimism that I needed. The sun comes out when they burst into my world.
In the morning, John and I combined forces on the chair. He worked out that it required some brute force to flatten the legs' support to the base, so the screws would reach the holes. We got it to work between us, so now we have all four screws in. Now all I've got to do is the cupboard! 🤣 I've read the instructions. Lots and lots of screws. 😫
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Heather - All the sympathy in the world for putting heavy furniture together. Putting together that sunroom furniture just about broke me… and now I hate it, but I don't sit on it, Corey does, so… 🤷🏻♀️👀😂
Trying to stop the all-body sweat that broke out just unloading a few groceries from the car. It really was the last cool morning, they weren't kidding, and summer is pounding all over my aching head.
But it's beginning to fade, with a decongestant and a cool glass of tea, and I'm going to go get started putting dinner together. Trying out chicken breast again for the first time in a LONG time. We genuinely prefer chicken thighs—but he was able to find chicken breast for $1.66 a pound at 10Box, so worth a try again. I'll let you know if this recipe makes it edible, and keeps it from being dry and cottony…
Later, my dears,

Hi,
@auntiebk, my PCP wanted me to do PT, but I am a terrible patient, which is part of my problem that I have to live with. I simply refuse to go through the regime of appointments for the weeks or months and then inevitably end up right back where I was before I started PT. The money paid by my insurance companies is also depressing, tbh. I was in the pool today and did some light stretches, which helps, but continuity is not done as easily for me as others seem to be able to do. To be honest, when I surfed into the MFP and saw all the conversations, was overwhelmed. I am not sure I can even keep up with all of this. Kuddo's and hats off to those who do it. Anyway, time for me to get my grand ready to take to her mother since her nursing shift ends at 7. 13 hours with a 3-year-old toddler is tiring enough when my day starts at 5:30am, no idea what's for dinner tonight either. Ugh. TTFN.

Did Jillian Michaels Full Frontal DVD then beginners Yoga DVD, then took Ganon for a walk around the block, fed him breakfast, then went to WalMart.
Drkatie – fantastic weight loss! Great advice to go out for what you crave rather than having it in the house to binge on. I do that mostly with soda since I really don’t drink soda. The unfortunate thing is that I need to have treats in the house for Vince, like ice cream
barbie – we always stay in a hotel when we go to see Denise. We also always feed ourselves
margaret – I’ve never seen a crepe myrtel bush. Only CM tree. Beautiful. I hate CM trees, but the bush looks very nice
Vince said he got an email saying that our eye md is going to be leaving the practice. Strange...I didn’t get it, yet I have an appt in Sept. coming up.
Rebecca – thanks for posting your diary. How I miss being able to view other’s diaries! I used to get some good ideas.
Neacie – welcome and good luck on that challenge. Tell me more about it, what does it encompass?
Hera – we’re glad you’re here
Allie – can Delia get any cuter?
Deck update: we finally have a start date. They plan to start the 25th. It’s interesting, originally it was to be in early June. But with the rain delays, etc, I knew it wouldn’t be until aug or Sept. But at least it’s getting done
kylia – vada voom
Rita – so glad you weren’t seriously hurt
Heather – happy you got the antibiotics. Hopefully, you won’t bein much pain
Tina dear – hope you figure out what’s causing the pain
Plays: has anyone ever seen the play “Junk”? Vince thinks it’s really musical. I’m thinking it isn’t. If he won’t go with me to see it, maybe I can drag Jess to go (hey, there’s a silver lining to them staying here!)
Beth – I actually prefer to shop on a Sunday, early in the day. The stores are empty (well, sort-of) since everyone is in church so you can get help. Great that your son is helping you and your husband to eat better.
Ganon gets a reprieve tonight. It’s raining out so we won’t go for a walk. It’s SUPPOSED to rain tomorrow so we’ll just have to play it by ear if we go for a walk or not
I made a BIG mistake tonight. I’d asked Jess what she wanted for dinner, got all the fixins for enchiladas. I honestly thought they took longer to make. I asked her what time we needed to start them to have dinner ready by 6. She said 5. She didn’t come upstairs to start until 5:30 so I made dinner for me and Vince. I didn’t realize that they took so short a period of time to make. I know it hurt her that I’d made dinner, but I didn’t want her having dinner late because I know that Vince can’t wait and I really don’t like to have anything heavy late at night (which is why whenever we went out to eat late I always ordered soup or something like that). Well, Wednesday is another day and I’ll try to be better.
I made zucchini pineapple muffins the other day and it looks like I’m the only one eating them so I’ll take them to BK tomorrow.
Really trying to curb my stress eating. I think I’m getting better
Question – what does PT do for you that exercising every day doesn’t? Is it just that it basically forces you to make the time to do the exercises?
Well, since no walk, I think I’ll go work on the jigsaw puzzle. I got it from the Salvation Army so hope all the pieces are there.

😀 Michele, When we decided to move to the house we're in now, we started packing immediately including renting a storage unit to put things in to get them out of the way.
Yes, I like to pack early too when I move although I didn't for my most recent move and probably should have. The thing is, there are a lot of things which we don't need on a daily basis … ornaments & decorations, books, CDs/DVDs, most of our clothing, all the outdoor stuff, probably half the kitchen stuff at least. All of that can go into storage if necessary.
It does make me wonder how much of this stuff we really need at all!
But I have always found moving to be stressful because there is always a whole lot more to do that you ever imagined.
Well done on the weight loss!
I completely understand "busy, stupid busy!"
And you are beautiful.
I often put away 2 or 3 glasses of water as soon as I get back from the theatre or symphony because I can't drink during (although I have brought a small waterbottle in a few times) and I find it so dry in those places.
Heather — only showers, no baths till you get over this one.
Machka sorry to hear you’re having to setup work computer and work so late. Is there any relief in sight?
Barbara — what I did yesterday provides me a bit of relief. The thing is, I started a new position but dragged a couple projects with me. One reared it's ugly head the week before last and I hope I've beaten it into submission now and have handed it back to my former unit. I didn't expect it would come back to me in the first place and the timing was really bad. Hopefully it's gone now. The other project I don't mind and would like to finish. I'm quite close to getting it where I want it, but because I've started a new position and have been working on new work, I haven't had much time. So I powered through this past weekend and made progress on something that's been nagging at me for a long time. I'll give it a rest for the next couple weeks and focus on my new work instead which shouldn't be so time consuming.
Woke up in excruciating pain. When I came back from my trip, I had nearly no pain in my back and my feet were only slightly painful. It’s now 2 weeks home and both are the worst they've been. Obviously there is something in my lifestyle causing it. I’ll need to figure it out.
Tina — your bed? your chair/sofa? your car?
Question – what does PT do for you that exercising every day doesn’t? Is it just that it basically forces you to make the time to do the exercises?
PT shows you the exercises that you should be doing for whatever issue you're having, and how to do them properly.
The PT appointments are rarely long, and aren't overly frequent because they basically assess where you're at, and then show you the exercises … and off you go to do them at home.
Many physiotherapist offices also have a Pilates gym and you can make appointments to go to the Pilates gym if you want. The Pilates physiotherapist will have your file and will know what you need to be doing and will take you through the exercises.
My husband and I both went to one of the Pilates gyms under the guidance of a physiotherapist for about a year when he started getting more mobile after his accident because it was a good way for him to do the exercises regularly.
Here, physiotherapists are also the ones that are trained to do the Epley Manoeuvre - some of them, not all. You've got to take a course to be able to do it properly.

Hello and Happy August;
Barbie, thank you for bringing us into August.
My goal this month is to exercise 3-4 days a week, track my intake, and stick to my budget. Today didn't go well. I have been in bed all day except for taking Rose out and getting her exercise. Rose has gotten kind of fluffy, so I am cutting back on her snacks and her food intake. My horrible headaches are back.
Lisa, I hope your vertigo goes away soon. I would hate it.
Lanette, your grand's hair got darker when they grew up. They are still babies, but they have an air of independence. They are so good-looking, and I bet they are smart too. Your grandson is muscular.
Pip, Ethel seems like an athlete. Ethel is a perfect fit for your family. How is Kirby doing?
Rebecca, your son is so cute and sweet. I am glad that he is in great spirits.
Debbie, I am worried about your sister, and I am glad that she is away from that non-caring doctor. Tell her to see what the advantages and disadvantages of the surgery.
Barbie, listening to or reading about all of the red tape you have to cut, made me realize how little prepared DH and I are. DH made sure his name is on my checking acct., but I am not on his. I purchased the house I live in, and his name is on the deed. I noticed that the mail is asking him if he is ready to sell this house, not me. The place in Chicago is in his name. When my dad died, it was a crap show. After I buried him, I went through the paperwork and realized that he had already purchased a burial site. So, my dad is buried in Palos Verdes, California, instead of Engwood, CA. We lost money because we didn't go through probate court. After all, my mom refused to. All in all, pat yourself on the back, Barbie, for doing so well, getting your paperwork done.
I am going to take Rose out for the last time. Have a great night.
XO,
Mo in Mississippi

Hello and welcome @hera1064,
You don't have to respond to us all. Just take it slow, and you will catch up. I work three 12-hour shifts, and I spend the first day sleeping, and then I read and catch up, and speed read. We all do it when life gets in the way. All I know is that we care for each other and we root for each other. What do you want us to call you? Or what is your name, and where are you from?

Yet another example of why you should not eat ultra processed food.
Yesterday, my cleaner asked me if I had always 'cooked from scratch', or only since I retired. I said 'always', but there were times, when I was on my own, that I did use pre-prepared food. John has been good for me, as he likes a real evening meal, with lots of veg. We eat at 6 pm.
Feeling a lot better today. Did my exercises first thing - 25 mins. The sun is shining, but there was an autumnal chill when I opened the window. I do push ups on the windowsill, back stretches, and raising my whole body up on my hands. I love greeting the day like that, and seeing who is out for a jog, or walking their dog. The man opposite has a husky!

Heather: I’m glad you’re feeling better this morning. UTIs are not pleasant.
Just a quick fly by this morning. The storm had blown through, and wind is minimal. It’s set to be our usual summer sunshine and clouds, but slightly above normal temperature. We will be well prepared for whatever transpires. The hotel grounds are beautiful and the exhibition is usually quite spectacular. Looking forward to enjoying it with DH, daughter and granddaughter.🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

I know that some of you have received these short texts designed to trigger a reply. Have a read through the article about why you don't want to reply or have anything to do with them.
Sadly these are the things we have to deal with in this day and age.
That seemingly innocent text is probably a scam
Many of us have received texts like these. Often super short, some flirty, some with a business tone, or sometimes just a simple ‘hello.’
You don’t know the sender, and they look like an honest mistake. But they’re not. All the messages are carefully crafted to seem plausible—so you don’t immediately feel suspicious—and short—to trigger your curiosity.
The intention of these messages are to get you to be confused enough that you will reply, perhaps by saying they have the wrong number.

Heather - You always prepare such delicious meals. I remember the years when I was working long hours, I had a freezer full of frozen meals - usually Weight Watchers or Lean Cuisine and later Amy's. Even though they are supposedly "healthy" the prices have been driven up tremendously and I refuse to pay $6 for something I bought for $3 five years ago. Glad I now have the time to do my own cooking. So happy to hear you are feeling better and getting your exercise in.
Speaking of home cooking, I bought a bag of chopped kale I need to steam today and also nice looking broccoli to sauté. I'm getting my meals for the week planned out. Bought a package of chicken thighs on Sunday I need to either cook or put in the freezer.
Terri - have a great time. A bit of rain is predicted overnight here, I hope it happens and cleans the air. I think we could use a good downpour actually to really clear the air. Everything is so dry and dusty.
Mo - estate planning can be such a chore. Good luck venturing down that road with your DH. If a person has a will drawn up in one state, I'm not sure if it pertains to how property is handled in another state. Perhaps a trust of some type would take care of the requirements of both states?
Michele - I think physically therapy specifically teaches how to focus on building up muscles in certain areas of the body. I know I was taught certain exercises I'd normally never do, plus advice on how to do the exercises correctly and of course how many reps and sets. Plus they can use ultrasound and other things we don't do in our homes. Sounds like you are in the process of getting things figured out with J & C living in your home.
Yesterday was my SWSY (Strong Women Stay Young strength training program for you new ladies) day. I'm doing it Monday-Wednesday- Friday. I'm also incorporating the Farmer's Carry and Suitcase Carry as recommended by my physical therapist when I was in there for my back a couple months ago. At the gym on Sunday, I could pick up and walk with 20#. Just a few steps, but I could pick the weight up. 25# I could not lift with one hand. Right now my big plastic watering cans weigh around 15# filled up. Next time I'm in town, I'm going to get kitty litter in the plastic containers - 14# and 20# and start building up time and steps. I only have another month or two of carrying water for my plants and don't want to stop getting that exercise. I can tell it's helping to strengthen my lower back muscles.

Machka - Thanks for posting that. I just got one of those yesterday. Asked me to "please, please! make sure to go by and let the dogs out at noon." Thought about replying, as I wouldn't want someone's house to get messed up because they texted the wrong number - and realized, since it was a completely different area code than mine, that it was probably the beginnings of a scam.

Air quality is 76 today which is classified poor. Last week we were 171 which is unhealthy for all. A neighbor was surprised I was still wearing a mask outside. I am outside for yard work and walking DrewB. Until it gets under 50 mask for me. I saw few masks when it was in the unhealthy category. I even saw people out running. The man who did my staining says he doesn't bother because there is already so many other types of pollution.
I have the opposite attitude I will take the precautions that I can be it is cumulative. It is like putting sand on a scale and you don't know what will tip it over. So I wear my mask outdoors, try to not add pollution in my own home through cleaning products and products I put on my skin and hair (very little), eat organic as much as possible and staying away from over processed food if something on the label I don't recognize or is high in salt or added sugar I don't eat it, I store what I can in glass not plastic, put my microwave in the basement, drink filtered water. The last time I got sick was last summer and it was only for a few days.
I got a full night sleep last night. I went to bed half hour earlier, used my breathe strip, mouth tape, air purifier, took a homeopathy med for leg cramps, used my Epson salts as a bath scrub, and did stretching before bed, also hydrated well during the day.
I am going to make getting good sleep my top priority.
Lanette I had DrewB titered because she has an autoimmune condition…She was also over vaccinated that I believe lead to her condition. You are right the vets prefer giving the shots. You do take on some risk not giving the shot. I never have DrewB outside without me. I did my research on rabies in my area. Low…animals that are carriers…bats, raccoons, skunks. Watch for strange behaviors in these animals. Take steps to keep bats out of your home. For me the risk of making her condition worse out ways the risk of giving her the vaccine. Bedsides the titer showed she has immunity to rabies. It is cheaper to have the shot than a titer. For me it is cheaper in the long run because the treatment for her condition if I followed protocol is very expensive cortisol shots, blood transfusions, death. (not acceptable) I think I told you of the story of a dog who had her condition who died at age 6 following the current treatment. DrewB just turned 9 and is back to her perky self. Like me I dramatically changed her diet, stopped flea and tick, heartworm meds, (They are pesticides) lots of love, low stress lifestyle for her, walks in areas with low yard treatment.

MO if you have property in more than one state a trust is the way to go. Each state will have the property go through probate through the laws where the property is located. Putting them into a trust can prevent them from going through probate.
Hera yes PT can be a drag to do. Unfortunately it is often mandated before other measures will be taken. The good thing is sometimes if done as prescribe it can turn a condition around. When I had it I liked doing my exercises in a pool. The other big thing is my PT instructor noticed my shoe wear was also a possible culprit and he was right. I told this story before when I went I had super high deductible so I opted not to use insurance. With insurance it was $150 a visit. Paying it out of pocket it was $90 per visit.

Lanette - People are always telling me what a good cook I am, but I don't think it has anything to do with cooking. Everything I do is super easy, and is normally completed in the ten minutes at the end of a quiz programme called 'Pointless ' that John and I watch together. That is just before 'House of Games' at 6 pm, with Richard Osman. 😅 The prep is done in advance, probably after lunch. I believe the difference is in knowing what makes a good meal, and how to balance textures and flavours.
Today I am making a frittata. I cooked some new potatoes in the IP at lunchtime. I also cooked cauliflower and green beans. Before Pointless starts, I will make the veg frittata, with six eggs, adding scallions and feta, and it will still be lukewarm when we come to eat it. In the allotted ten minutes, I will lightly fry the cooked little potatoes in olive oil, for John. I will have one small one. I have my third of the frittata with Piri Piri sauce. We leave one third for tomorrow's lunch between us with good bread and salad.
Yesterday, my cleaner said she didn't have the patience to cook. I said I didn't think putting two duck legs in the oven very onerous. I think it's more a matter of imagination, planning, and logistics. My freezers and fridge contain all the basics, and we rotate our favourites. It's quite a red letter day when we find something new we want to add to the repertoire. Quite rare.
If I were on my own, I would go more vegetarian, as I love beans and pulses. John will eat them, but he prefers other things. He loves all kinds of veg though.
Today I went out to the deli and butchers. The deli guy was getting ready to go on holiday to Scotland, and was in a bit of a worried mood about orders and invoices etc. No eggs! The butcher had local eggs, and I had great fun in there, exchanging banter with the young guy. I bought escalopes, and told him that I use the IKEA meatball sauce with them. He was waxing lyrical about the Dime cake he used to buy with his mum, and his memories of the meatballs in the cafe. He never had the sauce though. Those little exchanges add spice to my day. 🤩
All this to say, it's not in the cooking. 😉 Like s e X, it's mainly in the head.
My DSIL is thinking of coming over with my brother during the weekend of the 23rd/24th. I hope they can make it. I will have to find out what he is able to eat these days. I know it's still a problem for him.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Windows tip: If you realize you made a mistake on a document of whatever type, use ctrl-z which will undo the mistake. So if you delete a post, just hit ctrl-z and it will miraculously re-appear! Works on spreadsheets too. Not sure about PowerPoints. I haven't tried it there.
Went for a walk with Lucy this morning as usual but cut it short. My asthma kicking up and my knee and back began hurting from yesterday's fall. Should be good to go in a couple of days. Felt like fall this morning with a cool breeze. Won't last though. Predicted 105 degrees for high today. It is usually hotter here at the park.
Going to be taking care of a rancher's dogs for a week while they go on an Alaskan cruise. I am meeting them today to get the key and meet the dogs. Should be interesting. Their son will be there in the early morning and evening to take care of the cattle. I am just responsible for the dogs. Easy-peasy!
Thought for today:
There are hailstones the size of golf balls hitting the windows here.

"PT shows you the exercises that you should be doing for whatever issue you're having, and how to do them properly."
M – I have a book called “Stretching” by Bob Anderson. It tells you how to do the exercise and what body part it works. Why wouldn’t that help?
Mo – so sorry those headaches are back! You are so very right, we all care and root for one another
Denise asked that we come up on the 22nd, and leave on the24th after her church. The main problem is that hotels cost almost double on the weekend. So Vince texted her that we are having the deck rebuilt and they’re starting on the 22nd and we need to be here for that. Guess we shall see…. He did say to her “can’t we see PJ even one day this year?”
Have a dermatologist appt later today. Even tho it’s drizzling out, I’ll go take my walk just take an umbrella with me. I wasn’t going to take Ganon with me, but Jess said it was OK so I just might.
