How do I start strength training as a beginner?

I'm starting my fitness journey again and I want to focus on building muscle as well as losing weight but I have no idea where to start. I'm currently starting off with body weight exercises at home but I do have a gym membership.

I am in the same boat. I’m a mid 50’s female who has lost just over 20kg since early March via weight loss meds and walking on the treadmill. I haven’t had this sort of weight loss success ever in my life.
Setting foot in a gym for the first time was a daunting experience in itself. My Doc keeps recommending “strength training” to slow down muscle loss but I have been too scared to go near the weights cos I literally don’t know where to start.
I’m going to read through all the advice you have suggested and take some baby steps :)
