This lifestyle change is definitely a marathon…😁 So much has been going on. Things that are going well - I've started seeing a therapist. Stress was starting to get to me and having that neutral person has been so helpful. I've made some great progress on getting my hormones right. The NP that I am seeing has been great. Unfortunately, I cannot take Estrogen since I am high risk for breast cancer, but being on Progesterone has helped so much with the menopause symptoms - I am actually sleeping now! I have been consistent with logging, food prep and sleeping. Still working on consistency with activity and water.
The not so good - on August 8th we had to make the heart wrenching decision to help our Buddy cross over. He was our 14 year old Pittie mix and the best boy ever. My hubby rescued him from a busy roadway when he was a puppy - about 6 months old. We did our best to give him an amazing life and to let him go with dignity. it was hard and I miss him every day. It was so special to hold his face and look into his eyes as he went to sleep. We were so lucky to have him in our lives.
I am doing my best to juggle it all - taking care of me, work, home, my adult boys and my aging parents. My mom always said I was hard-headed, well raising her at this point is not easy and I know where I got my stubbornness from. Daddy is on insulin now, I'm learning a lot about diabetes and how foods affect him. I am also trying to teach him and mom how to eat. I was surprised at one of the doctor's visits when mom did not know what protein was. It's been a challenge but helping them seems to be helping me be more aware of what I am consuming.
I hope you all are doing great!
I will catch up more soon….

I am at 240.6 today which is lower than yesterday and earlier this week. I am staying in the very low 240s mostly which is slow progress. The good news is that today I went downstairs and back up with no pain and mostly like an adult alternating legs meaning I wasn’t favoring my bad leg very much. I have been avoiding stairs all together since my injury but for very short flights which I did like a toddler. I also tried sitting up from my chair without holding on this morning. So far no pain today. It was definitely the statins. Next week when I go to PT I will be asking them to help get me back to where I was before my camping trip. I was doing 3 Japanese walks, 2 strength training sessions and 1 aquafit. We are now doing 2 aquafit sessions a week. Up until recently I have been worrying that this injury was the beginning of the end. Exercise is so important to health and I wasn’t even able to do stairs or stand without holding on. I was getting sore halfway through walking around the grocery store. Now I have hope that I can get back to where I was and make progress again getting stronger. This was a roadblock that with my Dr I was able to get around and with PT hope to get back on the road to getting stronger again.
Thinking of taking a short walk today. So don't give up. Keep on until you find your way around, through or over those roadblocks.
@anneliz35 hope you have been having a good on track week .
@michellevt725 you are making excellent progress . We do have to make adjustments with the seasons, home situations and we just need to keep at it. Hope you get all the attention and self care you need.
@rorymason Whenever I hit a new lower weight I go back up soon after and spend time slowly getting down there again . That is what I am in the process of now. I have gotten into the 230s but I hop back into the 240s the good thing is they are lower 240s than before. So you will again get to 199 and may or may not go back up a bit but you are losing and soon enough 199 will be your high not your low.
@jenbroussard71 I was on an estrogen blocker after breast cancer . I realized after 3 years it was causing problems. My blood pressure was getting borderline and I had osteopenia. My Dr and I agreed to get off it. Menapausal symptoms don’t run in my family so I am glad to be back to normal. Glad you have improved your sleep. Sorry for your loss. Right now I am focusing on learning more about the latest in nutrition. So it is nice to hear that you are helping your parents with that. My Mom was an early health food nut but they know a lot more now and are discovering more. I am reading a book that focuses on metabolism and although I don’t have any blood sugar issues it deals with that too. What it is helping me with is burning fat.
