Nutrients in % (Needs to be revised)

Why would most of the nutrients allow us to change our daily goals by entering the GRAMS, but items like Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Calcium, & Iron only allow entries based on percentage?
That make 0% sense.
Example: The RDA for Calcium for a man my age is 1,000mg. I typically consume about 400mg of calcium per day, so i know I'm 60% under. So— the MyFitnessPal app should say (under the column "LEFT") 60% — right? Instead it says -278%.
So now I havce to stop and do a math probelm to figure out what that mean? Seriously?
But I care less about an explanation for that, than why can't these four categories just be like all the others, where we can enter in our daily goal, and the app indicates how many mg you are above or below?
I've read all the myfitnesspal articles about how the % is derived, so I don't need a primer on that. Besides, it's irrelevent to this question.
Just make Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Calcium, & Iron like all the others—where we can enter the mg goal.
Thank you.
