How often do you look at your friends/co-worker's feet?

I feel naked without polish but I don't think women without it look unkempt. Unless they have nasty *kitten* toes or yellow nails *gag*0

In the workplace, IF I notice, I'm more likely to discount the woman with the polished toes as rather frivolous. I might notice dirty feet or otherwise poorly maintained. But if everything's clean and well kept, polish certainly isn't required for a presentable business image. I think my attitude is not uncommon in the southwest US.0

I never notice whether someone has painted nails or not...it's just not really something I pay any attention to whatsoever. if they're painted...great...if they're not...great. my wife gets annoyed because she goes and gets a pedicure or something and then I don't notice. Sorry...try something a bit more obvious and not on your feet.
Personally I've never undrestood the point. If you're active at all, all of that $$$ getting a pretty paint job on your toes is going pretty much into the toilette. I think my wife's "paint jobs" usually last about 4 days tops with her activity level..then the paint starts peeling away and chipping away...which looks way worse than plain old toes.
^Most of this. I'm a woman who never understood spending money on mani/pedis. Toenails are so small and so far down that nobody really cares. In fact, when people don't paint their toenails, I don't pay ANY attention to their feet; when someone's toenails are a weird color - or any color that isn't natural - THAT catches my eye. My coworkers and I walk around barefoot sometimes after the lobby closes (I work in a bank - the last hour is drive-up only), and honestly, the only reason I notice that is because I don't hear shoes tapping on the floor when they walk around. The opinion of a total stranger - or 50 total strangers - isn't going to change how you feel. If you're that embarrassed by your feet, I'd say either paint your own nails or wear real shoes.0 -
I used to keep them painted, but this summer I could really care less. I have been "meaning" to paint them everyday, but then don't care. LOL
I have some cute flats that I can wear so my naked toenails won't even be seen, if I go somewhere that painted nails would be the norm.
As for looking at feet. I love shoes, so I look at feet for the shoes. If they have their nails painted I will decide if I like the color or not. If their nails are not painted, I don't feel so alone.0 -
Not "all women" comply.... and if someone has time to judge whether or not you've painted your toenails, they need a hobby.0

Peanut butter and toejam!0

The only time I pay any attention to someone's feet is if I notice a fabulous pair of shoes. Polished or buff doesn't really register unless it's something outrageous or really gross.0

- I love painting my nails. It's a cheap way to pamper myself. I do it for me.
- I like looking at the colors other women choose, but as long as nails are neat and clean, unpainted is fine too.
- I don't notice too many people who look at my feet (And I am a very observant person.)
- My boss definitely looks at my feet. He's obviously a foot or ankle man. He tries to be discreet about it so it's flattering and not creepy. One should aways try to impress the boss - within limits of course. :blushing:
- My husband could care less about painted nails or sexy heels/sandals in spite of the fact that I'm under 5' 3" tall. Again, I paint my nails for me. My husband is an *kitten* man so I'm always certain to wear thong underwear to prevent underwear lines. I do that for him because we all know that any woman in their right mind would not voluntarily wear those things.
My point - decide if you do your nails for yourself or someone else. If for someone else... is he (or she) worth it? Most people don't care about toenails. Besides, sandal wearing weather is almost over anyway unless you live in a tropical region.0 -
Can't cause they're wearing shoes, hah.
But I think I have nice feet so it's whatevs, and I don't mind people's feet so I don't really care.0 -
Most men don't give a hill of beans about women's toes as long as they're clean and there are five on each foot.0
-
Sounds ridiculous, but all women comply.
FALSE.0 -
1. I don't really look at all.
2. Roaches are hard to keep out sometimes, I'm sure they just needed to spray. Depends on the weather.0 -
I notice if they are really gross or really nicely done. I don't notice anything in between as they don't catch my eye..0
-
I always look! Never thought about it! But yeah, I will come to a conclusion of exposed feet. They are either cute, healthy (as you say) or damn fugly no matter what! Take care of those feet ladies... haha!
Eta: lmao, I'll add this is mostly at work when sitting in close spaces with others. Pedicures were a big deal at work. Unless, I'm stuck in a line waiting, I prob won't scope out exposed feet.0 -
"I mean, seriously, how often do you look at a man's shoes?"
Ok. I don't look at women's feet. i do look at their shoes. I have a shoe obsession, my mother is now feeding it so it's pretty much out of control.
And I always look at men's shoes. Always. I like a well heeled man.0 -
only if they are in the stall next next to me in the bathroom. start to wonder whose shoe it is.0

Who does this to you women? Is it your mothers? Society? Beauty magazines? TV? All of the above? You all worry about the most insane nonsense.
Proper first world problem this. :laugh:0 -
Never if I can help it, feet freak me out. Even my own!0
-
What I don't understand is why you have to go pay for a full pedicure to have painted toenails. Although I occasionally like to go have a pedicure, the majority of the time I just do mine at home.0
-
I do not look at other people's feet-- feet fetish free :indifferent: ... I hardly ever polish my nails (toes or fingers) but when I do-- I do it myself (most of the time). So if going to spa is the issue and you still want to have them done-- DIY, may be the way to go0

 Roaches? OMG!
I always have my toes painted. I look at them and I like how they look with pretty polish.
ETA: Can't you paint your own toes?0 -
I haven't painted my toe nails for years. I wear flip flops and sandals and never felt the need to paint them.
ETA I've never paid someone to paint my toe nails lol0 -
Now the reason I'm asking... I had a rather traumatic experience this summer at an upscale spa/nail salon - as in roaches running over my hands in the shellack manicure drying machine. And the place looked clean and beautiful. You just never know.
Now I am wearing sandals without a pedicure (clean, healthy, clear pink nails). No polish. Can't bring myself to go back to a salon.
I wonder if anyone really does look and judge. We as a society came up with this arbitrary and artificial idea that nails need to be painted. Sounds ridiculous, but all women comply.
Do I really need use polish if I wear sandals or be considered an "unkempt" woman?
umm.... not all women comply..... and since when does not walking around with perfectly painted nails make you an "unkempt" coman? Most of the women I know who get pedi's walk around with half chipped off nail polish complaining about needing a pedi, wouldn't that be an "unkempt" woman?0 -
You don't need to get a pedicure to have painted toenails. Just get a bottle of polish from store (just about every drug store, grocery store, dollar store, discount store, etc. sells nail polish) and do them yourself. Get scrubby wash gloves (also avail same places) and use them when washing your feet to keep callouses off. Apply lotion to your feet daily. It really takes very little effort to keep your feet looking nice.0

Feet GROSS ME OUT!!!!! but I honestly will check out a girl's toes if she's wearing sandals or Peep toe heels. Men's feet I just Look Away!!!!! I ALWAYS keep my nails manicured!0

They can't charge $20-30 if you just want polish. Besides the extras are really worth it.0 -
I don't look at anyone's feet, and I don't care what they think of mine!
I paint my toenails occasionally - when the mood strikes. I think professional pedicures are uncomfortable and creepy, so I refuse to get them. I have a bone spur on one of my big toes from an old broken bone. I also was born with hammertoes and super high arches - nothing I can do about that. My feet will never be 'pretty', but they carry me happily through all the things I like to do in life (hikes, backpacking trips, long daily walks). I would never quit wearing flip flops or sandals because someone thinks my feet look bad.0 -

I love shoes... I love feet. I particularly like pretty manicured feet.
I particularly hate, unkempt feet. This is unacceptable.
